    Notes:

    Obituary:
Virginia M. Sitter, 93, of Appleton, died on May 11, 2015 at St. Paul Elder Services nursing home in Kaukauna. Virginia was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin November 25, 1921 to the late John and Martha Sitter. Always an excellent student, she worked her way through college, graduating from Marian University in Fond du Lac in 1956. Inspired by the Sisters of St. Agnes, who founded Marian, she became a medical technologist, worked at medical facilities in Reedsburg, Neenah, Fond du Lac, and Monroe, and eventually became chief medical technologist at Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh. In 1962 she received the award as Outstanding Medical Technologist of the Year for the State of Wisconsin.
As a professional, well-read woman who was interested in science as well as in art, music and literature, she had many occasions to travel abroad to conferences or on tours. Not only was she an exceptional baker and cook, always experimenting with new recipes, but she was also an extraordinary seamstress, designing clothing, specialty items and even window treatments. Countless people benefitted from her creativity and generous spirit. Her generosity was also manifest in her broad support of mission organizations and the people they serve throughout the world.
A woman of deep faith, she assumed leadership roles, first at her home parish of St. Vincent in Oshkosh and then at St. Bernard's in Appleton where she was a trustee, a lector, a member of the choir and an integral member of the ladies craft group, to name a few of her involvements.
Virginia was a connector for family members spread across the United States and had an excellent memory for dates and details significant in the various family circles. Preceding her in death are all of her siblings: John, "Jess," (Jean) Sitter, Sylvester (Mercedes) Sitter, Cecilia (John) Penzenstadler, Helen (Ray) Marx, Genevieve (Jack) Dalziel, and Loretta (Bernard) McCavitt. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral liturgy for Virginia will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine Street, Appleton with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. Bernard Parish. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of St. Paul Elder Services, and especially her dear friend, Sue Lee, who took care of her needs and saw her through to her journey's end.
