    LaViolette, David John
    Son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, David LaViolette, 95, Mountain (formerly of Appleton) died peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Sept. 11, 2004. David was born Jan. 16, 1909, in Neenah, the son of the late John and Sarah (Bertrand) LaViolette and has lived in Appleton for most of his life. On Oct. 5, 1935, David married Marie Hobbins and the couple enjoyed 63 years together until her death in 1999. He worked for Appleton Chair Company and then spent 45 years as a loyal employee of the Wisconsin Telephone Company. He was a Lineman, Foreman, and Safety supervisor. Dave's commitment to God and family came first. He was a hero to many. He had many hobbies including gardening, hunting, curling, watching football, golfing, and playing cribbage. David was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Appleton, a charter member of the Appleton Curling Club, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
    He will be missed by his son, David (Barbara) LaViolette; six daughters, Helen (Bob) Pfefferle, Marguerite "Muggs" (Tom) Armstrong, Sara (Pat) Sirmon, Mary (Wayne) Bass, Ruth (Greg) Hollahan, and Renee (Omar) Turbi; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Kaufarnus.
    He is preceded in death by his wife, Marie; a daughter, Joann; his parents; three brothers, John, Frank, and Joseph LaViolette; and a sister Katherine.
    The Mass of Resurrection will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton, with the Rev. Michael O'Rourke officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for Leroyer Hospice, Langlade Memorial Hospital, 112 E. Fifth Ave., Antigo, WI 54409 has been established.
    The family wishes to express their thanks to a special friend and caregiver, Robert Armstrong, Father Kelly of White Lake, and Leroyer Hospice of Antigo, Wis. for their care and compassion.
