Appleton - Ralph Gordon "Spike" Managan, age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Brewster Village in the Town of Grand Chute with his family at his side.
Spike was born November 30, 1924 in Appleton, the son of Mabel (Heimke) and Maurice Managan, the 6th of 10 children, at 11:45 in the evening, almost becoming a December 1st baby. Spike grew up in Appleton, and following his education at St Mary Catholic Grade School, he worked as a chauffeur for a roofing salesman. He served his country in the United States Army during the final days of WWII, and was honorably discharged in March of 1947. On November 29, 1947, he was united in marriage to Adris "Shorty" Braeger. He enjoyed the good Lord's great outdoors while hunting and fishing with his sons, brothers, nephews and friends. Spike also served as Governor of the Appleton Moose Lodge, and along with his wife Shorty, helped to make the Lodge a success.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 70 years, Shorty, and their two sons, Ralph (Jo) Managan Jr., Fox Crossing; Patrick Managan, Appleton; a grandson, Tobin Managan, Fox Crossing; a sister, Ethel Buss, Appleton; and a very special niece, MaryLee Schabo, Appleton; as well as many relatives and good friends. Spike was preceded in death by, his parents and eight siblings.
