Fremont - Eugene DuWayne Schuelke, 88, of Fremont, died Friday January 12, 2018 at St. Joseph Nursing Home. He was born in Neenah, on September 16, 1929, son of the late Edwin and Leona (Spiegelberg) Schuelke. Eugene married Lorraine Grunwald on September 16, 1950. They farmed the Schuelke homestead together their entire married life. They enjoyed 58 loving years together before her death on March 1, 2009.
Eugene's passion for farming and love for tractors made him a familiar face at many auctions where finding a "deal" was a successful day. He was quite proud of his property, including a pond stocked with fish. Eugene was no stranger to having a little fun. He loved Polka music, dancing with friends, gathering for Packer games, and watching the Brewers.
Eugene is survived by his son, David (Christine), Fremont; his two grandchildren: Todd (Amie) Schuelke and Erin (fiancé, Pete Rohloff) Schuelke; three great grandsons: Jaxon, Parker Schuelke, Elijah Van Ark; Megan Conlon, who Eugene thought of as one of his grandchildren; and Evelyn Rupple who was a lifelong special friend of Eugene, who brought enjoyment to him these last few years. He was further preceded in death by a brother, Harlan, sister-in-law/Betty; and sister, Donna, Brother-in-law /Carl Fischer.
A memorial service for Eugene will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday January 16, 2018 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, N985 County Highway W, Fremont, with Rev. Peter Kesting officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday morning beginning at 9:00 AM until the 11:00 service.

Eugene's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at both the Washington Center and St. Joseph Nursing Home, for their loving care and compassion. Eugene loved his time at the Washington Center, where he was treated like family and grew so fond of the staff.
