Obituary:
Theodore Elmer Wiedenbeck passed away on March 28 at the age of 88. Ted was born on March 11, 1930 in Kaukauna WI and was raised there until joining the Army Air Corp in early 1947. His military service includes participation in the Berlin Airlift and the Korean War. He received many awards and medals, including the Soldiers medal for heroism in 1952. He held a few jobs after retiring from the Air Force with 21 years of service. These include aerospace, transportation, petroleum, and casino operations. Upon his second retirement from the casino business in Reno, NV, he devoted his time to his five children, 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was a great baker of pies, cookies, and arguably the best cheesecake in the world. He spent 10 years mastering the art of model ship building and for fun added a few spectacular model doll houses. If he decided to do something, he did it at a level of excellence reserved for professionals, but never took any hobby so serious as to strip the joy and fun from it. He was a very humble and gracious person who was truly selfless in his endeavors and desire to help others. His genuine nature and sense of humor was mentioned by anyone who met him. We all felt loved by him and he never made anyone feel wrong, even if he disagreed. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond Street, Appleton with Rev. April Kain-Breese officiating. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park with complete military honors.
