    Obituary:
    Lorraine E. Vandenberg, age 94, of Freedom, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, March 14, 2014 at the St. Paul Home, in Kaukauna. She was born August 13, 1919 daughter of the late John and Rena (Verstegen) Gonnering.
    On August 11th 1939 she was united in marriage to Clarence (Mike) Vandenberg at St. Nicholas parish in Freedom. He preceded her in death June 4, 1995.
    Lorraine had an incredible love and passion for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, family and friends. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, baking, and playing cards. Lorraine was a member of St. Nicholas parish in Freedom and a member of the Christian Mothers.

    John "Jack" Gonnering, age 7 3, died Sunday February 26th, 1995. He was the son of the late John and C atherine (Verstegen) Gonnering. He was born October 17th, 1921 in Freedo m. He was a retired farmer and livestock dealer in the Freedom are a. He was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church, the Knights of Co lumbus and the Holy Name society. Survivors include five sons: Jim and Ma ry, of Kaukauna; Richard and Laura, Michael and Patty, Gary and Ethel, Dav id and Marcella, all of Freedom; four brothers: William and Dorothy, Euge ne and Mary, Donald and Lois, Orville and Sharon, all of Freedom; three si sters: Lorainne and Clarence Vanden Berg, Rosie and Donald Stofel, Pat a nd Jerry Kittiko, all of Freedom; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildre n. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine and a sister, Adele Va nEperen.     Obituary:
    William J. Gonnering, Freedom, age 88 in two days, died after a short illness with his family by his side, on Monday February 10, 2014, at Rennes Health and Rehab Center. He was born February 12, 1926 in the Town of Freedom, to the late John and Catherine (Verstagen) Gonnering. He married the former Dorothy Greiner on May 18, 1949 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. Dorothy passed away September 4, 2006.
    Bill was a farm boy his whole life. His love of work helped him to be a successful, and well respected livestock dealer throughout the country. His work ethic taught his son and grandsons well. He was a great business man and had good sense of people. He was often willing to give others an opportunity to succeed. Bill was a member of St. Nicholas Parish his entire life and was very proud of his Catholic faith and heritage, especially his seven aunts who were nuns. In his early married life and living next to the church, he loved to spend time with any of our priests or religious.
    He was also a Charter member of the Freedom Lions Club. Bill loved all the wonderful things the Lions were able to do for the community. When he was able to make the meetings he certainly had his share of fun with the other members. Bill's business sense also came in handy as he served on the Board of Directors of Marine Bank and Bank One in Freedom for many years, and retired from the board in 1989.
    Bill cherished his family and is survived by his children: Jayne (Dan) VandeWettering, Sally (Tom) Michalkiewicz, Patti (Dave) Banks, and Bill (Peggy) Gonnering; grandchildren: Cory (Michelle) VandeWettering, Staci (Paul) Milheiser, Tyler Michalkiewicz, Emily (Jeremie) Clark, Ross Michalkiewicz, Adam (Amber) Gonnering, Megan (Nick) VanHandel, Travis (special friend Danielle) Gonnering; great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren: Lydia, Logan, Lynea, and Libby Lang; Adelyn, Cydnee, and Fletcher VanZeeland; Quinn Milheiser; Hayden Michalkiewicz; Kayla, Brady, Kennedy and Owen Clark; Evelyne and William Gonnering; Grace VanHandel; and two more expected in July. He is further survived by: a brother, Gene Gonnering; sisters: Lorraine Vandenberg, Rosie Stoffel, Pat (Jerry) Kittiko; sisters-in-law Lois Gonnering, Sharon Gonnering; additional in-laws: Rosie Greiner, Bill Greiner, Ronny and Vonny Greiner, Bob (Beaver) and Vionne Greiner, Jim and Sharon Greiner.
    Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

    The Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will be at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2014 at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Freedom with Fr. Dan Felton officiating. Family and friends will be received at church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
    The family would like to thank the 8th floor staff at AMC hospital, ThedaCare Hospice, and especially his 'Little Sweet Hearts' at The Renaissance Assisted Living in Appleton.

    Rosemary T. Stoffel, 86, Kimberly, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2014. She was born April 26, 1928, in Freedom, daughter of John and Catherine (Verstegen) Gonnering. On August 20, 1949, Rosemary was united in marriage to Donald "Butch" Stoffel, and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Rosemary retired from Wisconsin Telephone Company in 1984, after many years of service. She enjoyed Bingo and spending time at the family cottage on Chute Pond. She was a member of the Red Hats Society, TOPS, AT&T Pioneers and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW #2778.
    Rosemary is survived by her daughters: Mary (Bob) Sanderfoot, Little Chute, Nancy (Dale) Brux, Wisconsin Rapids, Tina (Jeff) Maulick, Freedom; her sons: Don (Kathy) Stoffel, Kaukauna, Dan Stoffel, Kimberly, Dave (Michelle) Stoffel, Freedom; grandchildren: Nicole (Ryan) Vanden Heuvel, Shannon (Kirk) Popp, Paul (Samantha) Stoffel, Craig Stoffel, Tori and Brad Brux, Tanner, Taylor and Hunter Maulick, Jason Stoffel, Leslie McGlin, Kyle and Claire Stoffel; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Gene Gonnering; a sister, Pat (Jerry) Kittiko; sister-in-laws: Lois and Sharon Gonnering; and many other extended family members and friends.
    Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Butch; a daughter, Joanne Stoffel; siblings: Lorraine (Mike) Vandenberg, Jack (Catherine) Gonnering, Bill (Dorothy) Gonnering, Dell (Earl) Van Eperen, Donald Gonnering and Orville Gonnering; and a sister-in-law, Mary Gonnering.
    Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, with Fr. Ricardo Basquinez officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.     Donald P. Gonnering, Freedom, age 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at St. Paul Villa. He was born April 21, 1932 in the Town of Freedom, son of the late John and Catherine (Verstagen) Gonnering. Don lived in the Freedom area his entire life. He was an US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. On May 3, 1955 he was united in marriage to Lois Verbeten and they recently celebrated their 57th anniversary. Don was a cattle dealer and auctioneer in the area for over 50 years. He owned and operated GK Auto Sales in Freedom since 2001. Don was the Freedom Town Board Supervisor, a member of Freedom VFW Post #7692, Freedom Lions Club, Fox Valley Golf Course, and a long-standing and faithful member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Don enjoyed golfing, Friday night fish, ice cream, and homemade pie. Most importantly, he loved spending as much time as possible with his family.
    Don is survived by his wife, Lois; a daughter, Deb (Tim) Schuh; two grandchildren: Greg (Tiffany) Kavanaugh and Stephanie (Dave) Linsmeyer; five great-grandchildren: Brady, Bennett, and Sydney Kavanaugh, Carsen and Dawson Linsmeyer; three sisters: Lorraine Vandenberg, Rosie Stoffel, and Patricia (Jerry) Kittiko; two brothers and a sister-in-law: William Gonnering, Gene Gonnering, and Sharon Gonnering. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Jack and Orville, and a sister, Adelle.
    The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Freedom with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. Friends will be received on Monday, May 28, 2012 at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. with a parish prayer service at 7:30 concluding the evening. Friends may call again on Tuesday directly at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Following the service full Military Rites will be performed by VFW Post #7692 at the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.

    Orville R. "Mayor" Gonnering, Freedom, age 73, died suddenly on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at home. He was born August 20, 1934, to the late John and Catherine (Verstagen) Gonnering in Freedom. On October 3, 1968, he married the former Sharon Joel at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. Orville was a member of St. Nicholas Parish and the Freedom Lions Club and worked for many years as a livestock dealer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as time spent with his dog, Sweetie. Family life was very important to Orville, he had great interest in his children and grandchildren and the many activities they enjoyed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
    He is survived by his wife, Sharon Gonnering, his two sons, Terry (fiancee, Tammy Erdmann) Filen and his daughter, Jennifer and John (Melanie) Gonnering and their son, Jack; his daughter, Sharon "Peachy" (Dave) Lillge and their two children, Jake & Emily. He is further survived by three brothers, William Gonnering, Eugene (Mary) Gonnering and Donald (Lois) Gonnering; three sisters, Lorraine Vandenberg, Rosie Stoffel, and Patricia (Jerry) Kittiko, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jack, a sister Adele, a sister in law, Dorothy Gonnering and two brothers in law, Mike Vandenberg and Don "Butch" Stoffel.
    Orville's Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2007 at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Freedom, with Fr. David Hoffman officiating. Friends will be received on Friday at Church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.     Gary Gonnering, age 64 of Freedom, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 7, 2016. He was born on Jan 2, 1952 to Jack and Catherine Gonnering of Freedom. Gary married his beautiful wife Ethel (Vosters) on September 22, 1977. Together they raised 4 children and were blessed with 5 grandchildren.
    Gary learned valuable business skills from his father and uncles. In 1981 he began his own livestock business. Six years later he added dairy to the operation when he and Ethel purchased a farm near Seymour on State Rd 55. He worked diligently for 27 years and succeeded in building a successful business, retiring 2 years ago. Gary was a active member of the National Republican Congressional Committee Business Advisory Council, proud supporter of our veterans, and Freedom Trail Blazers.
    Gary loved to spend relaxing weekends at the family cottage on Cloverleaf lakes. He would often be found relaxing in his armchair, tending to the grill, or watching over his grandchildren playing in the yard. Gary loved the outdoors. Fishing and hunting with his sons and friends, snowmobiling on the trails, dragging the '69 Chevelle at WIR with his sons, and giving his grand kids tractor rides were some of his favorite past times. Gary and Ethel enjoyed frequent drives to Door County to take in the scenic views and famed cherry pie.
    Gary's love for family, ability to organize, work ethic, confidence, and willingness to help, will be greatly missed.
    Gary is survived by his wife Ethel and their four children: Nathan (Michelle) Gonnering and their three children, Abigail, Ethan, Isabelle, Jennifer (Brad) Arndt, and their two children, Olivia and Evelyn, Matthew Gonnering, Whitney Gonnering. Gary's brothers: James (Mary) Gonnering of Kaukauna
