    GEORGE W. TRIMBERGER
    CHARLOTTE, NC - George W. Trimberger, Professor Emeritus of Animal Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University, passed away on October 9th at age 94 in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he had lived for the past seven years. He was at Cornell from 1944 until his retirement in 1975. Dr. Trimberger was an expert in dairy cattle, a pioneer in artificial insemination, and the creator of a type classification of Holstein cattle, a system that was adopted by other breeds and in 35 countries worldwide. He had 188 publications including four editions of Dairy Cattle Judging Techniques. Professor Trimberger coached 24 Cornell Dairy Cattle Judging teams who competed in nation-wide contests against other universities. Under his direction, the Cornell teams accumulated one of the best records in the U.S. Recognized as a talented dairy cattle judge, Trimberger officiated at many shows including 10 national or international competitions in the US, and six in foreign countries. Dr. Trimberger's expertise led to many international assignments in Eastern Europe, Cuba and Israel. His most important foreign work was in the Philippines and Nigeria. From 1955-57, he served as director of the Cornell Project to rehabilitate the College of Agriculture in the Philippines, an assignment he repeated in 1966-67 when he was in charge of developing a graduate education program. In 1975 (after retirement from Cornell) Dr. Trimberger served two and one half years as chief of party for the Veterinary Medicine Project and chair of the Animal Science Department at Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria on a Kansas State University Project. In 2001, 26 years after retirement, Professor Trimberger received an Outstanding Faculty Award from the Alumni Association of the Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. In addition, he received awards from the National Dairy Hall of Fame, the National Dairy Shrine, the National Brown Swiss Association, the New York State Purebred Dairy Cattle Association and New York State Holstein Association. George Trimberger graduated magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin in 1933, and then entered the University of Nebraska where he received an M.S. in Dairy Science in 1942 and a Ph.D. in Zoology in 1948.His wife of sixty years, Eleanor Brown Trimberger, passed away in 1998. He is survived by three children, Dr. Ellen Kay Trimberger of Berkeley, California, George M. (Mickey) Trimberger and his wife, Diane of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Pamela Trimberger Castro and her husband, Andrew of Westtown, New York; and by six grandchildren. In addition, George is survived by four of his six siblings, Mike Trimberger of Appleton, Wisconsin, Sister Christine and Sister Ann Marie Trimberger of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Mary Kopeck of Las Vegas, Nevada. The funeral for George Trimberger will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 18, at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church. A viewing will be held at Bangs Funeral Home on Sunday, October 17 from 4-6 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the George W. Trimberger Scholarship Fund, Cornell University, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Office of Alumni Affairs and Development, 272 Roberts Hall, Ithaca, New York 14853.

    Trimberger, Michael L.Age 91, of Appleton, passed away blessed and peacefully on Saturday Februa ry 5, 2005 at his home following a short illness. He was born on May 22, 1 913 in Neillsville, Wisconsin to the late George and Margaret (Mershberge r) Trimberger. On June 18, 1940 he married Marcella "Sally" Kolbe and th ey shared 64 wonderful years. Mike was the owner and operator of Mike's Fr iendly Service in New Holstein for 20 years.He is survived by his wife, Sally; his children, Paul (Judy)Trimberg er of Green Bay, Rosemary (Jack) Lasche of Boston, MA, Ron (Carol) Trimber ger of Door County, Peter (Charlene) Trimberger of Grafton, Joanne Atkins on of Eau Claire; his sisters, Sister Ann Marie Trimberger of Milwaukee, S ister Christine Trimberger of Milwaukee, Mary Kopeck of Nevada. He is furt her survived by 16 wonderful grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Micha el J. Trimberger; son-in-law, Phillip Atkinson; and brothers, George Trimb erger and John Trimberger.Services for Mr. Trimberger will be held Monday, February 7, 2005 at 2 p. m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton, with Father Larry Abler a nd Father Marty Fox concelebrating. Friends may call at the church fr om 1 until 2 p.m.He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered as a caring husband, fathe r, grandfather, and great grandfather.Mike's family would like to thank family members, friends, and caregivers.
