Rita Zondag, 81, Kaukauna, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 7, 2008. She had battled cancer for 30 years. Rita was born in Dreumel, the Netherlands, on June 19, 1926, the daughter of Peter and Berdina (Verbruggen) Vink. She attended a Catholic college in Valkenburg, the Netherlands, studying the French, German and English languages. She became a buyer for Daalderop, an international pewter and appliance manufacturer. On June 14, 1955, she married Harry Zondag in St. Barbara Catholic Church in Dreumel and together they immigrated to Little Chute. Rita enjoyed a 20+ year career as a teacher's aide at Park School in Kaukauna. The students knew her as the lady with the foreign accent. She became active in what is now the Kaukauna Community Health Associates. Serving as a treasurer, Tour of Homes organizer and model for Style Shows, she also knit hundreds of baby caps for newborns at Kaukauna Community Hospital, varying the yarn color with the seasons.
Rita was a member of Holy Cross Church. She sang in the church choir for many years at the 9:15 a.m. Mass and also on Christmas Eve. Mid-week Rita loved playing Bridge with her lady friends. Then on Fridays, after a fish fry, she would play with other friends and neighbors. She shared her love of games with her grandchildren. Rita became an accomplished golfer, winning a few trophies before a shoulder injury forced her to retire from the sport. She loved traveling, especially cruises on the Holland-America Line, the same ships that first brought her to America in 1955. Cruises took her to Hawaii, Alaska, the Panama Canal, Venezuela, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. Rita had a green thumb and could make any houseplant grow and thrive. She was an amazing seamstress, sewing many of her daughters' clothes and also their Barbie dolls' clothes. She was an accomplished artist, especially in oil painting. She also loved entertaining friends at their cottage, the "Dutch Retreat" on Lake Winnebago.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harry; two daughters, Dr. Betty Zondag (Charles de Garmo), Stuart, Fla.; and Jackie (Bruce) VanDeHey, Appleton; and three grandchildren, Dana and Danny VanDeHey and Chris (Janice) de Garmo, Washington, D.C.
Rita was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters in the Netherlands, and cousins Jakie (Verbruggen) Ebben and Casey Verbruggen, Little Chute.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Holy Cross Church, Kaukauna, with Father Marty Fox officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Rita's name for the Kaukauna Catholic School Syster (KCSS).

She was born in Dreumel, Holland on June 7, 1920, daught er of Henry and Caroline (Van Rhyn) Verbruggen. Jakie was a graduate of S t. John's High School, Little Chute. On May 3, 1947, she was united in mar riage to Richard Ebben. He preceded her in death in 1963.Jakie was a life-long member of St. John Nepomucene Church in Little Chut e, where she was a past member of the Elizabeth Society. She was also a me mber of the Little Chute Golden Agers Club.Jakie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, a good card game a nd playing bingo. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a beautiful smil e, which she shared so often. John H. Verbruggen, 91, of Little Chute, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 15, 2015. He was born on January 23, 1923, in Holland, son of the late Henry and Caroline (Van Rhyn) Verbruggen. John married Elizabeth "Betty" Ebben on February 1, 1949, and together celebrated 65 years of marriage. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. John began his career working with his father at Verbruggen and Sons Construction. He retired as the building inspector for the Village of Little Chute. He was a long time member of the Little Chute Fire Department, Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, and the Little Chute Kiwanis Club.
John is survived by his wife, Betty; his children: Mike (Paula), Chris (Terry) Eiting, Don (Diane), Jerry (Denise) and Ann (Chris) Minten; a daughter-in-law, Connie Verbruggen; grandchildren: Jon Verbruggen, Dana (Ryan) Hausmann, Jill Eiting, Jenny (Andy) Sebero, Kaiti Verbruggen, Pete Verbruggen, Erin (Ben) Dercks, Jeff Verbruggen, Laura Verbruggen, Ashley Minten and Tyler Minten; great-grandchildren: Vander, Vosten, Drew and Jordy; a sister, Joanne; brothers and sisters-in-law: Barbara Levandowski, Marv (Mattie) Ebben, Ike (Bill) Hammen, Fr. He was born June 13, 1927, in Little Chute, son of Henry and Caroline ( Van Ryan) Verbruggen. Casey married Mary Jane Vanden Heuvel May 11, 195 0, at Saint John Catholic Church, Little Chute. Casey was a member of Sai nt John Church. He was self-employed as a general contractor until his dea th. Casey was a part-owner of Ryan's Ballroom, Combined Locks, with his s on Bill. Casey was a great singer who received great pleasure from his gra ndchildren. Casey enjoyed spending time with his family at his cottage th at he built.
He loved the company of his dog Brandy for 17 years.

He w as born on April 11, 1955, the youngest child of the late Rich and Jakie E bben. Rick was a graduate of St. John’s High School, Little Chute, Cla ss of 1973. He was employed at Hi-Tech Plastics in Kaukauna. Rick’s greate st joys were being with family and friends, especially time spent at Arbut us Lake in Pickerel and hitting the open road on his motorcycle. He w as a man with a quiet demeanor and great inner strength. Todd G. Verbruggen, Kaukauna, age 55, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 15, 2013. He was born in Appleton on August 28, 1957 to John and Elizabeth "Betty" (Ebben) Verbruggen. Todd married Connie Gietman on September 16, 1989 at St. Paul's Parish, Combined Locks. His love for her was truly immeasurable. Together, they had two beautiful children, Kaitlyn and Peter, of whom Todd was most proud.
Todd was a perfect gentleman. He always thought of others first and made everyone feel special. Todd loved spending time with his family and friends, especially boating with them on the Todd-Tanic. He enjoyed tending to and spending time in his yard. He always had a joke to share, delivered with a smirk on his face and a twinkle in his eye. Todd truly cherished every moment with all his customers. They were the highlight of his career.
Together with his brother Jerry, he owned and operated Hollander's Pub and Grill (formerly Willie's Supper Club). Todd's earlier ventures included Thunder and Lightning, Pine Street Bar, and the Lincoln Inn.
Todd is survived by his wife of 23 years, Connie; children: Kaitlyn Christine, attending UW Oshkosh, and Peter John, attending UW Milwaukee; parents: John and Betty Verbruggen; siblings: Mike (Paula), Chris (Terry) Eiting, Don (Diane), Jerry (Denise) and Ann (Chris) Minten; mother-in-law: Barbara Gietman; brother and sister-in-law: Dr. Thomas (Lori) Gietman and Jenni (Rick) Roberts. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and many friends.
Todd was preceded in death by his father-in-law; Peter J. Gietman, Jr.; and cousins Lee "2-E" Verbruggen and Rick Ebben.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 19, 2013 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St., Little Chute) beginning at 12:00 noon until a time of memory sharing at 3:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will follow at 5:00 pm on Monday at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St., Little Chute) with Rev. Ronald Belitz officiating. The family will establish a memorial in Todd's name.

Lee Verbruggen, 50, Little Chute, died unexpectedly at his home Tuesday, February 12, 2008. He was born September 12, 1957, in Appleton, son of Cornelius and Mary Jane (Vanden Heuvel) Verbruggen. Lee married Robin Van Epern on September 10, 1983, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna. Mr. Verbruggen was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Lee was a 1975 graduate of Little Chute High School. He worked along side his father with Verbruggen Construction for many years. With his father and brothers he renovated Ryan's School into Ryan's bar, which became well-known for its exceptional character and craftsmanship. He ran Ryan's bar for 10 years. In 1994, Lee established Cornelius Concrete with his brother Dave, which he owned and operated for 14 years. Lee loved spending time with his family at Crystal Lake where he along side his father and brothers built the family cottage. He loved to play washer toss there. He was a wonderful uncle who provided many hours of entertainment for the kids. Lee enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, and was a proud member of "The Crush" softball team. He was an avid Packers fan.
