Mrs. Herbert A. Wickesberg, (Emma Kippenhan), 715 E. Circle StreetAge 87, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be wi thher Lord at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 1987 at Appleton Medical Cente r,following a heart attack. She was born May 3, 1900 in Greenwood, ClarkCounty, Wisconsin. She attended school near Greenwood, and later mov ed toAppleton, where she worked and also graduated from Lawrence Conservato ry ofMusic. She taught music and played piano for various community occasion s.After her marriage to Herbert A. Wickesberg, she resided on a farm in tTown of Greenville for many years, later moving to an acreage on Mayfie
Road, and then to the Circle Street address in Appleton.She was an active member of E.U.B. Church, later of the Appleton AllianChurch. She was also a very active member of the South Greenville Grang e,Jolly Workers Homemakers Club, and 4-H leader. Survivors include a daught erand son-in-law, Jean and Charles Sommers, Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters:Mrs. Lydia Wulf, Pueblo, Colorado; Cilla Kippenhan, Appleton; threebrothers; John, Arthur, and Roland, all of Appleton; also survived by thr eegrandchildren; Deb and her husband Bruce Berendts, Minneapolis; Brad and h iswife Sherri Sommers, Des Moines, Iowa; Kathy Sommers, Clinton, Iowa; agreat-grandchild Mallory Sommers, Des Moines, Iowa; numerous nieces andnephews. She was preceded in death by her husband August, 1984, three
sisters and four brothers.The complete funeral will be Monday, November 2, 1987 at 11:00 a.m. at t heAppleton Alliance Church, corner of Durkee Street and Capital Drive, wiDr. Stephen Grunlan officiating. Interment will be in Highland MemorialPark. Friends may call at the Valley Funeral Home, 2211 North RichmondStreet, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m.until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.

Obituary:
Jean (Wickesberg) Sommers, 74, of West Des Moines passed away March 17, 2011. Jean was born in Appleton, WI to parents Emma and Herbert Wickesberg. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin and later received a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Drake. Pursuing her lifelong dedication to education Jean taught Home Economics, tutored with Children and Families of Iowa, and was a substitute teacher.
Jean continued to be a teacher to her grandchildren; always excited to read a book, write a story or sew a blanket for them. She is survived by children, Deb (Bruce) Berendts, Brad (Sherri) Sommers, Kathy (David) Marx; grandchildren, Mallory, Laura, Ben, Carissa and Dalton.
