Obituary:
Jean (Wickesberg) Sommers, 74, of West Des Moines passed away March 17, 2011. Jean was born in Appleton, WI to parents Emma and Herbert Wickesberg. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin and later received a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Drake. Pursuing her lifelong dedication to education Jean taught Home Economics, tutored with Children and Families of Iowa, and was a substitute teacher.
Jean continued to be a teacher to her grandchildren; always excited to read a book, write a story or sew a blanket for them. She is survived by children, Deb (Bruce) Berendts, Brad (Sherri) Sommers, Kathy (David) Marx; grandchildren, Mallory, Laura, Ben, Carissa and Dalton.
