    EMAIL14. Peter G.4 Esler Jr. (Peter3 Essler Sr., Amable2 Essler (Asslien), An toine1) was born in the Town of Buchanan, WI, Feb. 7, 1873. At the ti me of the 1900 census of Outagamie Co., WI, he was working in a pulp mil l. In 1916 his occupation was listed as a pulpwood sawyer. He married twice. He married Katie Killian (Catherine) Feb. 24, 190 8. Katie was born Sept. 6, 1872. She was the daughter of Peter Killian a nd Eva Wintz, who were born in Germany. Katie was the widow of Louis Rei chel, with three children from that marriage. In 1910 Kate had 6 childre n, with 4 of them living. Peter Jr. was listed as the head of the house, m arried for the first time, with Kate as his wife. Also listed were the fol lowing: Harry Reichel, 18 yr. old step-son working as a machine tend er at a paper mill, Marie Reichel, 16 year old step-daughter; Alvina Reich el, 13 yr. old step-daughter; and Elmer Esler, the 11-month old son of Pet er and Kate. They were living on Elm Street in Kaukauna. Katie died Oc t. 9, 1914 at 42 years of age. He married Katharine Krell in Kaukauna, Sept. 27, 1916. She was t he daughter of John Krell and Mary Heinmen, both born in Germany. She w as the widow of a Senso. She was nicknamed "Slippery Kate" by the neighbo rhood kids, who seemed to get a lot of pleasure from picking her apples (w hen they had a tree of their own at home). While going through some old papers, a medal with a red, white and bl ue ribbon was found. Peter received it from the Outagamie Co. Council of D efense, State of Wisconsin. On it was written: "1917-1919. Peter Essler. G reat World War. Honorably discharged at Appleton on July 4, 1919. Victo ry Liberty Loan. Made from captured German cannon. Awarded by U.S. Treasu ry Dept. for patriotic service in behalf of the Liberty Loans." Peter's death on Mar. 15, 1953 was due to CA of the esophagus. The i nformant for the death certificate was his son Elmer P. Esler. Peter G. Esler Jr. and Katie Killian had the following children: 28 i. Elmer5 Esler was born May 17, 1909. Elmer died Mar. 1 8, 1992 at 82 years of age. 29 ii. Arthur Esler was born Dec. 13, 1911. Arthur died Sep t. 30, 1926 in Kaukauna, WI, at 14 years of age. Several of the neighborh ood children were playing games and two of them decided to climb up the me tal structure on the Island Street bridge, near their homes. One of the bo ys only climbed a short distance, but Arthur went all the way to the to p. He mistakenly touched high voltage wires and was electrocuted.

    Email from Tom 7/20/2004 Here is a condensed accounting of Peter Esler S r. and his children:Peter Esler married Maria Meier on Feb. 6,1872. Maria was born in Greenfi eld, Milwaukee, WI. in 1849. On Feb.7, 1873, Maria gave birth to Pet er G. Esler Jr, but Maria died five days later as a result of childbirt h. Maria was interred at Holy Angels cemetery in Darboy, WI on Feb. 14, 1 873. Peter Esler then married Francisca Reichel on April 14, 1873. Franc isca(Frances) was born in Baden, Germanyin Aug. 1855, the daughter of John Reichel and Thecla Muel. The first chi ld of Peter and Frances was born in the Town of Buchanan on Dec. 17,1875 b ut died 3 days later. Peter and Frances had 12 more children: Jack, Henr y, Lena, Catherine(Kate), Mary, Emma, Agnes(died as infant), Gertrude, Ann a, Jenny (died Feb. 11, 1905 at age 8), Sylvester(Coonie) and Grace. Moth er Frances died on March 1, 1913 from cancer of the liver. Peter Sr. di ed on Dec. 17, 1923.

    Obituary:
    Pearl M. Schultz, Greenville, age 93, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2007, at Appleton Medical Center. Pearl was born on March 31, 1914, in Kaukauna to the late Peter and Katherine (Killian) Esler. On August 22, 1936, she married Fred Schultz at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna and they shared 53 years until he preceded her in death in 1990. Pearl and Fred operated a dairy farm for many years and Pearl worked part-time at many area restaurants throughout her career. She was a member of the Greenville Homemaker's Club. Pearl enjoyed collecting business cards, traveling with her husband, and gardening.
    She is survived by her close friends, Glenn and Janet Kelly, Greenville; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Arthur.
    Funeral services for Pearl will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2007, at 6 p.m. at the Wichmann Funeral Home (537 North Superior Street). Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to help fund diabetes research.
