    Schuette, Gladys E. A funeral service was held on Thursday, August 6, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 Washington Avenue, Grafton, for Gladys E. Schuette of Grafton who passed away peacefully on August 1, 2009, at the age of 86 years. Visitation was held at church on Thursday. Interment Community Lutheran Cemetery in Freedom, WI.     Gladys was born on June 28, 1923, in Freedom, WI, to the late Emil and Alma (Jahnke) Uhlenbrauck. She married Norman Schuette on August 5, 1951, and their marriage was blessed with six children. Before her marriage she worked for the Lutheran Childrens Friend Society in Milwaukee. Gladys babysat for many families of St. Paul Lutheran Church and also helped with the 3-year-old pre-school program. She enjoyed taking care of children, baking, taking care of her garden and being part of the Womens Guild at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
    Gladys is survived by her children: Neal (Debbie) of Grafton; Nancy (David) Hischke of Suring, WI; Dale (Lori) of Grafton; Gary (Terri) of Lacey, WA; Bob (Rachel) of New York, NY; and David (Wendy) Schuette, Round Lake Heights, IL; 16 grandchildren: Jason, Jared, Trenton, Rochelle, Robin (Joe), Luke, Jessica, Andy, Brad, Jaron, Christopher, Sean, Nicholas, Brianna, Nicholas and Benjamin; great-grandson, Logan; brother, Ken (Marva) Uhlenbrauck of Appleton; sister, Eunice Zimmerman; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Uhlenbrauck of Appleton. Gladys is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    She is preceded in death by her husband Norman, brother Melvin Uhlenbrauck, brother-in-law Raymond Schuette and sister-in-law Helen Schuette.

    Lois J. Meltz, 78, formerly of Appleton and Suring, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Feb. 28, 2008, in Phoenix, Ariz. Lois was born April 21, 1929, in Appleton, daughter of the late August and Ida (Hooyman) Jahnke. She resided in Appleton for most of her life, moving to Suring in 1990 and to Arizona in 2005. On June 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lawrence (Larry) Meltz, sharing 61 years together. Lois worked as head cashier at the Piggly Wiggly in Appleton for 20 years, retiring in 1986.

Friends may call at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and then directly at the church (Sacred Heart Room) from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service. A reception to celebrate Lois' life will be held at the Red Ox Supper Club, 2318 S. Oneida St., following the service.
    Lois had a heart full of love and she didn't hesitate to share that love with everyone around her. God had given all of us a gift by bringing her into our lives. Arlon was born to Ida Hooyman and August Jahnke on January 21, 1935, in Appleton, WI. He joined the US Air force in 1954 and served until 1975.     Arlon is survived by his wife of 22 years Janet Sharp Jahnke. Together they enjoyed traveling, sailing, fishing, and spending time with their extensive blended family of 8 children, 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
    A celebration of life will be held May 5, 2018 at the American Legion #192 275 Legion Road, Evans, GA 30809. A brief service with military honors will begin at 1:30pm. All are invited to join the family in fellowship at the conclusion of the service. The family declines flowers and donations but prayers, condolences, and memories are gladly accepted.

    Virginia A. (Belling) Sass, 92, Appleton, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at her home. She was born Sept. 25, 1920 in Appleton the daughter of Elmer and Helen Belling. She was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Navy Hospital Corps at Bethesda, MD and Great Lakes Hospital where she met Donald Sass. The two married on Oct. 20, 1945 and Don preceded her in death on May 30, 1983. Ginny was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church and active in the Choir, Library Guild, a money counter and Sewing Lady for many years. She was a former member of the Pythian Sister Zenith Temple #31. She was also a member of the St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer at the hospital for several years working mainly on the orthopedic floor. Ginny said, "I was the happiest when I was helping others".

Lee graduated from Appleton High School in 1947, and went on to serve his county in the U.S. Air Force until 1953. During his time in the service, he was in the 1946th AACS Sq in Berlin, Germany. Lee worked as an industrial electrician at Albany International for forty years, before retiring. He married JoAnn Elizabeth Hauert on February 26, 1954, and they spent 61 years together. Lee was a dedicated husband, and even during his illness, was more concerned with JoAnn's wellbeing than his own.
    Lee liked spending his time woodworking and listening to classical music, especially Wagner. During his later years, he became an avid reader. Lee enjoyed following the stock market closely and was proud to be successful and self-taught. One of his greatest passions was his sweets, especially donuts and pies. He had many fond memories spending time with his grandchildren and family at their cottage on the lake.
    He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Belling; children: Tim (Diana) Belling, Annette Livingston, Libby (Wlodek) Simon, and Jonathan Belling; grandchildren: Easton, Brice, Briley, Alex, Max, Megan, Sophie, and Andrew; sister, Carol Weiss; special cousin, Margaret Zahn; and sisters-in-law, Marian Hauert and Clarice Belling.
    Lee was preceded in death by his siblings: Eunice, Ginny, Jack, Donny, Deloris, Jim, and infant Beverly.
    A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton. Funeral service for Lee will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 325 E. Franklin Street, Appleton, with Rev. David Farina officiating. An additional time of visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Lee will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
    Lee's family would like to thank the ThedaCare At Home nursing staff for all of their wonderful care.

    Earl Robert Jahnke age 62 of Cadott, WI. passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 4th, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls.
    Earl was born on January 1st, 1950 the son of Floyd and Lola (Ziegler) Jahnke in Appleton, WI. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee from 1970-1972. Earl was united in marriage to Mary Gillis on March 17th, 1972 in Sherwood, WI.
    He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, hunting and fishing.
    Earl is survived by his wife-Mary Jahnke, Children-Chad Jahnke, Jayne Jahnke (friend-Bob Geist) and April (Chad) Schuebel; Grandchildren-Blake and Kirsten Jahnke, Morgan and Makenna Schuebel.
    Siblings-Bruce (Marge) Jahnke, Carla Brawner, Kristine (Jeff) Van Den Heuvel, Diane (Mark) Dietzler, Randall Jahnke, Barb (Kevin) Merckx, Ida (Mark) Johnston, Charles (Jennifer) Jahnke and Ted Jahnke.

    A local visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at the Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott, WI. and on Friday, Nov. 9,2012 from 4-8 PM at the Boettcher Funeral Home in Kaukauna, WI. and one hour before services Saturday at the Church.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neenah, WI. with Rev. Steve Dietzler officiating. Interment will be at Community Lutheran Cemetery.
