    Obituary:
    Sister De Carmel Loehr, age 86, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Friday, January 1, 1993, at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, January 4, 1993, at the Holy Family Convent Chapel. Her brother, Rev. Alfred M. Loehr will be celebrant of the Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem. will serve as con-celebrant. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, Manitowoc. She was born Lucile Loehr December 18, 1906, at St. John, Wis., the daughter of the late Anton and Katherine Kalt Loehr. She entered the convent in 1928 and professed her vows in 1931. Sister earned a BA Degree from St. Norbert College, DePere, and a Master's Degree in Education from Marquette University, Milwaukee. Sister De Carmel served as an elementary school teacher and/or principal at Appleton, Francis Creek, Green Bay, Rhinelander, Waukesha, and Whitelaw, Wis.; Mingo Junction, Wellston, and Woodsfield, Ohio; Ayshire, Iowa; Petoskey and Ironwood, Mich.; and Santa Barbara, Calif. After retiring from the teaching profession, she served as a secretary at the Catholic Social Services Office in Dover, Ohio. Since March of 1969 she resided at Holy Family Convent. Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a brother, the Rev. Alfred Loehr, Green Bay; and a sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Harold Buhl, Chilton. Friends may call at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 1-5 p.m. on Monday, Janaury 4, 1993. A prayer service will be held at the Convent at 1 p.m. on Monday. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting with funeral arrangements.

    Services were held Monday in Holy Family Convent Chapel at Manitowoc, Wisconsin, for Sister DeCarmel Loehr, 86, who died Friday in the convent where she had resided since 1989. A former Dover resident, she was a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity. Burial was in the convent cemetery. At Dover she worked at the Catholic Social Services office. She had served as an elementary school teacher and/or principal at schools in Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan and California. Surviving are a sister and a brother in Wisconsin.

    A Memorial Mass for Sister DeCarmel Loehr, 86, will be celebrated Saturday at noon in Sacred Heart Catholic church at New Philadelphia with Fr. Ed Keck officiating. She died January 1 in the motherhouse of the Franciscan Sisters of Charity at Manitowoc, Wisconsin. In 1991 she celebrated 60 years as a member of the religious order. After 46 years in education, she spent 14 years in retirement in Tuscarawas County working as secretary for Personal and Family Counseling Service from 1975 - 1980 and was secretary/receptionist for Catholic Social Services from 1980 - 1988. She also tutored several students from Sacred Heart School and enjoyed gardening and cooking at her home with Sister Claudine Smith at St. Francis Convent in New Philadelphia. She was a member of Sacred Heart Altar Society and Christian Mothers and Senior Citizens. After the service a luncheon will be served in Sacred Heart Parish hall. A memory book will be printed for distribution to family and friends.
