    Obituary:
James J. Ney, age 87, of Appleton, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014. He was born in Appleton on January 12, 1927, to the late Leonard and Theresa (Koskie) Ney. Jim attended St. Joseph Elementary School and graduated from Appleton High School. He was a WWII veteran, serving as a radio technician in the US Navy and received the Victory Medal. Jim attended the University of Wisconsin and earned his engineering degree. He was employed by and designed sub stations for Wisconsin Electric, working in Appleton, West Bend and Milwaukee. He retired in 1982. During retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, home improvement projects and spending time at the cottage he built. Jim was always willing to help others and was often teased that he had a miniature Fleet-Farm in his basement. He was called upon by St. Vincent de Paul to repair furniture for resale. Jim enjoyed breakfast in the "Wall Street" section at McDonalds on Northland where he met Carol. He was a member of the American Legion and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton.
Jim is survived by his life partner, Carol Kubs; siblings: George (Mary) Ney, CA and NH; Rose Mary (Joseph) Green, Freedom, WI; Patricia DeBerard, Venice, FL; Mildred (John) Fose; Indianapolis, IN; nieces and nephews.
The funeral liturgy for Jim will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH (410 West Lawrence St., Appleton) with Fr. Jim Leary, O.F. M. Cap. officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Jim's name. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
Thank you to Jim's family and friends for their many thoughts and prayers.
