    Obituary:
Carthy, Ardell C. Ardell was called to Heaven at the age of 83, after a brief bout with cancer.
Ardell will always be remembered by her children as being a "stay at home mom." She took pride in keeping her house clean, having meals together as a family and tending to the garden. She had an amazing "green thumb" which showed in her vegetable and flower garden. Mom spent countless hours sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed going with dad to the hunting land they had in Bowler, Wis.
Three years after Ardell's husband passed away, Peggy returned from the Caribbean and she and mom moved together to a new home. She again had a beautiful garden which attracted a variety of birds that enjoyed the food and water that mom made sure was there for them. The neighbors were friendly and gracious to her. Mom was able to travel and see a part of life that she never knew before. Peggy's friends became mom's friends and they visited with her regularly.
Ardell was a member of St. Pius X Parish for over 40 years and was a member of the Catholic Knights for over 50 years. For the last year and a half she belonged to St. Joseph Parish. Ardell was preceded in death by her loving husband, Emmet S. McCarthy on August 13, 1997, her parents, Ignatius and Mary (Goehler) Bourassa, 3 brothers, Willard (Myrtle) Bourassa, Kenneth (Ellen) Bourassa, Leo (Ivy) Bourassa; and her three sisters, Laverne Bourassa, Adis (James) VanGompel and Elberta (Leonard) Vorpahl.
Ardell is survived by one sister, Delores Wittman and five children, Patricia (Robert) Treiber, Eagle River, Wis.; Peggy McCarthy, Appleton, Wis.; Stephen McCarthy, Shorewood, Wis.; Cathy Byrne, Appleton, Wis.; and Colleen (Tom) Thornton, Appleton, Wis.; Seven grandchildren, Shawn VanGompel, Kay Treiber, Molly Byrne, Jessica (Ben) Churchill, Michael Thornton, Anne McCarthy and Emmett McCarthy; and two great-grandchildren, Amanda Krenke and Gabrielle VanGompel.
We would like to thank all of Peggy's friends who work for Outagamie County, many of whom called her "mom" or "Mrs. Mom," for their kindness and friendship towards Ardell. She loved all of you and enjoyed every visit.
The family would also like to extend a special "thank you" to Lola and Larry Dorn who had many fun visits with mom over a "Red Dog" or two. To all the other nieces, nephews, friends, sisters-in law and brothers-in-law that visited mom or called her, we thank you for your gifts of kindness and friendship. A special thank you goes out to Helen Meidam for her friendship and compassion. And last, a heart felt "thank you" to Dr. Lee Vogel of the UW Health, Fox Valley Family Practice and the staff at Theda Care Hospice. You are angels here on earth. You allowed mom to die at home with her family and friends in dignity and grace. We thank you and pray for God's blessings upon you.
Friends and Relatives are invited to a memorial service at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 404 W. Lawrence St., on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. There will be visitation prior to the service starting at 9:30 a.m. also at church. All are invited to a luncheon following the service at Holly Hall, at St. Joseph's Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Theda Care Hospice.

    Obituary:
Dennis Vorpahl, Greenville, age 61, was suddenly called home to heaven while on vacation in South Carolina. Dennis was born in Appleton on August 24, 1949, son of the late Leonard and Elberta (Bourassa) Vorpahl. He was a 1967 graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School, and studied at Milwaukee's Layton School of Art, graduating in 1971. At that time, he returned to Appleton and began working with his parents and brothers in the family business - a furniture and upholstery shop. In the early 1980's Dennis opened his own business, Dennis Vorpahl Design Concepts. Over the years, Dennis had become one of the premier interior design consultants and furniture specialists in the Valley. He had a keen eye for design and art and for that reason loved painting and architecture. Dennis was a former member of the Little Chute Kiwanis, and was a current member of the Greenville Civic Club and the Montego Bay, Jamaica Kiwanis Club. Jamaica was one of his favorite vacation spots, and he traveled there often to help build and reconstruct homes. Dennis had a zest for life - he loved having fun and fishing with friends, telling stories, and sometimes doing crazy things, believe it or not.
Survivors include two daughters: Renee Vorpahl of Oshkosh, her children Alex, Chloe, and Jacob, and her fianc? Mike Peterson; and Erin (Jeff) Huettl of Hortonville and their children Hunter and Chase; two step-daughters: Karen (Bret) Pemble of Combined Locks and their children Brianna and Brady; and Vickie Johnson of Combined Locks and her children Kendra and Austin; three brothers: Robert (Althea) Vorpahl of Eureka, California; Steven (Angela) Vorpahl of California; and Timothy Vorpahl of Appleton; several nieces and nephews: Victoria Vorpahl, Joseph (Theresa) Vorpahl, Benjamin Vorpahl, Andrew Vorpahl, and Elisa Vorpahl. Dennis is also survived by his former wives: Laura Hinzman of Seattle and Kathy Vorpahl-Gillis of Cascade, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter: Kylie.
The Christian Funeral for Dennis will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 900 N. Mason Street in Appleton with Rev. Judy Deckert officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again Tuesday at the church from 9:30 AM until the hour of the service. Obituary:
Tim Vorpahl knew he had a bad "ticker" as he called it, and often said he was living on "borrowed time." On Monday afternoon, September 21, 2015, his Lord decided to bring Tim to heaven at the age of 53. He died suddenly, with no pain, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Tim was born in Appleton on April 16, 1962, son of the late Leonard and Elberta (Bourassa) Vorpahl. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Appleton, and was confirmed in 1976. It was from this grade school class of 1976 that Tim made, fostered, and retained many lifelong friendships. In 1980, Tim graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School, and while there enjoyed working behind the scenes on various theatrical productions. Tim was naturally handy with tools, and during the time he attended the University of Wisconsin - Fox Valley, his interest in theater staging continued. His talents were eventually discovered by the Walt Disney Company, and he was invited to travel abroad with Disney On Ice, working as the stage manager. Eventually, his heart yearned to be back home, working with his dad at Vorpahl Furniture - so that's exactly what he did. For many years, Tim continued to learn the furniture repair and upholstery trade at his dad's side. Following Leonard's death in 1997, Tim took over the family business, and proudly produced high quality home furnishings. His heart and soul stayed with that mission until his final day. Tim was aware that it was clear to all that he had grown up in the 1970's and 80's. He collected things like Star Trek movies, rock and roll posters, board games from his youth, Packer memorabilia, vinyl record albums, and valuable books. He was especially proud of his collection of vintage furniture.
Tim's sudden passing will leave a void in the hearts of many. They include his beloved daughter: Elisa Vorpahl (Mr. Lynn Johnson) of Sparta, Georgia; a brother: Steven (Angela) Vorpahl of California; and a sister-in-law: Althea Vorpahl of California. There are also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father Leonard in 1997, his mother Elberta in 2005, his brother Dennis in 2011, and his brother Robert in 2015. Just last month, Tim also had to say farewell to his longtime companion, Tango.
Pastor Judy Deckert will lead a service to honor Tim's life among us at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29. 2015, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton. He will be laid to rest along with his parents and his brother at Highland Memorial Park. Friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 4:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. For more information or to share a memory of Tim, please visit www.wichmannfargo.com.
I would like to thank my dad's legion of faithful friends who stuck by him and came to his aid when times got tough. He loved and appreciated each of you more than you can ever imagine. And even today, while fond memories of my dad flood my heart, my gratitude for each of you remains boundless. Thank you all so very much.
    -Elisa Vorpahl
