Former Wrightstown Fire Marshall, Board Trustee Cornelius Verbeten, Dies
Cornelius Verbeten, 71 Wrightstown, former village Fire marshall and trustee died Wednesday afternoon in
Green Bay after a long illness. He was born Jan. 22, 1887, in the town of Buchanan. He served two terms on the Wrightstown village board, and was the last operator of the American house,
Wrightstowns only hotel. He had been employed by a Wrightstown feed company. Funeral services will be at 9:30 Saturday morning at
the Dewane Funeral home, Wrightstown, with burial in St. Paul cemetery there. The Rev. August Broekman, pastor of St.
Paul Catholic church, Wrightstown, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight.
The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight and Friday night. Survivors include the widow;
three daughters, Mrs. Martin Van Gompel, Little Chute, Mrs. Arnold Nienhaus, Sugarbush, and Mrs. William Durris, Jr.,
Winthrop, Mass.; five sons, Robert and Charles, Appleton, Benjamin. Wrightstown, Clem, Little Chute, and William,
Greenleaf; three brothers, Arnold, Wrightstown, Harold, Little Chute, Howard,Kaukauna; and four sisters,Mrs.

Mother of 2 killed in fall from Moving Car, Mrs. George Acker, 29, dies soon after being taken to Hospital.
A young Kimberly mother was killed early Sunday morning after she fell from a car driven by her husband. The accident occurred less than 2 blocks from her home.
Mrs. George Acker 29, 134 Sydney St.. Kimberly, died a few minutes after she was admitted to St. Elizabeth Hospital about 1:40 Sunday morning. Her death was the 3rd traffic fatality in Kimberly this year and the 22nd in Outagamie County since
January 1st.
Mrs. Acker suffered a skull fracture and sub-dural hemorrhage, She did not regain consciousness. A partial autopsy was performed Sunday morning to determine the cause of death, Coroner Bernard H. Kemps said.
The couple was returning from Appleton where they had attended the wedding and reception for Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Acker, brother of the driver. George Acker had served as his brothers best man.
Acker told Under Sheriff Lyman B. Clark and Kimberly Police Phil Midday that his wife had a headache during the evening and had taken a couple aspirin tablets. She felt ill Acker said and was about to turn down the window. Apparently she took hold of the door handle instead. The door opened and she fell to the pavement.
Was unconscious.
Van Grinsvan was sent to investigate. He found the couple trying to get the woman into the car and immediately called the Lindy's Ambulance. The woman died about 5 minutes after arrival at the hospital. Van Grinsvan said she never regained consciousness.
Under Sheriff Clark and Kemps took statements from the driver at the hospital.
Mrs. Acker was born in Milwaukee on June 20, 1923 and lived most of her life in Kimberly. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Verbeten. A graduate of Kimberly High School, she attended Mount Calvary College in Milwaukee. She was a member of Holy Name Church Kimberly and the Women Catholic Order of Foresters.
She is survived by her husband and 2 small children, Mary Ann 5 and William 2.
Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock.

Germaine F. Lamers, Kimberly, 94, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at St. Pa ul Home in Kaukauna. She was born June 11, 1911, one of six children bo rn to Ted and Jenny (Verbeten) Micke in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. Germai ne moved to Kimberly from Cloquet, Minnesota, at the age of 18 years. S he met and married John Lamers on Oct. 4, 1933, in Kimberly, and was devot ed to him for over 71 years. As their children grew, John and Germaine we re regular attendees at their school and sporting events. Her greatest j oy was her family and she devoted her entire life to fulfillment of the ro les, wife and mother. She was active in Christian Mothers and the Nation al Catholic Society of Foresters at Holy Name Parish. She and John were me mbers of Holy Name Parish for 71 years and were active in the choir. In h er family she will be remembered for her expertise in the kitchen; cannin g, baking, cooking, preserving everything that came from the garden. She l oved her card playing, especially sheepshead. Anthony "Tony" Micke, 90, passed away Mo nday, June 23, 2003, at Minnesota Veteran's Home in Silver Bay, Minn. He w as born May 28, 1913, to Theodore and Genevieve (Verbaton) Micke in St. Cr oix Falls, Wis. Tony served in the United States Army as a sergeant duri ng World War II. He was a Cloquet police officer in the 1940s and he work ed at the Naval Gun Factory in Washington, D.C. until 1959. He then work ed at Northwest Paper Company, Cloquet Post Office, Super Wood in Dulut h, and was a longshoreman for a few years. He retired from the DM&IR Railr oad and he managed the Cloquet Fare for All for several years. He also wor ked at the Cloquet Pine Knot newspaper. Tony was a 4H leader in the 196 0s in Carlton County and he was a member of the Cloquet American Legion Po st #262, Cloquet DAV, Cloquet VFW Post #3979, and Cloquet Cooties. Age 97, of New London, passed away on Saturday September 13, 2014 following a short illness. She was born on May 26, 1917, daughter of the late Cornelius & Isabelle (Lamers) Verbeten. In July of 1936, she married Arnold Nienhaus, he preceded her in death in 1960. In February of 1973, she married Larry Ruckdashel, he preceded her in death in 1996.
Lillian and her first husband Arnold owned and operated Nienhaus Grocery in Sugar Bush from 1954 to 1971. She worked at New London Copmmunity Hospital from 1965 to 1974. She owned and operated Mode O Day clothing store in New London from 1975 to 1980 and worked for over 20 years with Pat Witt for Pat Egan's lunch wagon at auctions till the age of 90 years. Lillian was an avid golfer at Cedar Springs Golf Course in Manawa for over 35 years. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion, former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lebanon and current member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London. She spent her winters in Apache Junction, AZ until 2001.
Survivors include 3 sons: Frank (Sheila) Nienhaus, Oshkosh; Arnold (Mary) Nienhaus, New London; Richard (Marsha) Nienhaus, Portland,Oregon; a daughter: Judy (Bill) Moeller, Hortonville; 13 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; sisters-in-law: Hilda Verbeten, Florida; also nieces and nephews who she was very fond of.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Arnold Nienhaus in 1960; her second husband, Larry Ruckdashel in 1996; a son Tom (Dorothy); also brothers and a sister. Lil always said she was a "Survivor" and she was till the end!
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London. A gathering of friends and family will be held directly at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Interment will be in Ruckdashel Cemetery in Sugar Bush.

VERBETEN, ROBERT C. Home: Appleton U.S. Navy, Radioman, 19Verbeten was on duty station at the Ford Island Naval Air Station wh en he and an officer heard a plane approaching. "We went to go outside. Wh en we got to the door, we saw the meatball on the side of the plane. The o fficer said, 'Robert, that's a Jap.' We knew right then we were at war."MOST VIVID MEMORY: Verbeten made his way to the mess hall, that had been t urned into a hospital. "There were men in there that had jumped off the da maged ships into pools of burning oil. Their skins were falling off the m. It was the most horrible sight I ever saw."

Verbeten, Robert C. AppletonAge 80, was called home by his Lord November 15, 2002. He was born to t he late Cornelius and Martha (Verhagen) Verbeten in Wrightstown on Decemb er 20, 1921. On May 14, 1929, he married Ruth Brockman in Appleton. She pr eceded him in death on March 31, 2002. Robert was a veteran of World War I I. While serving in the Navy, he was stationed in Pearl Harbor and surviv ed the bombing by Japanese air power. Robert worked for many years as a ca rpenter at Kimberly Clark, retiring in 1984. He was an avid golfer, enjoy ed playing cards, and especially enjoyed spending time at his cottage at P aya Lake. Robert was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association, t he William Verhagen post #60 of the American Legion in Kimberly, and w as a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Appleton. With her family by her side, Lois Eickhoff, 86, Kimberly, was called home by our Lord on Friday, May 13, 2011, at Crestwood Senior Living (Sheelin Cottage living center). Lois was born in Appleton, on April 12, 1925, daughter of the late Frank and Petronella Johnson (Verbaten). She was a graduate of the Appleton High School and over the years held various jobs.
For many years she was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Parish in Kimberly, volunteering as a lector, choir member and as a member of the cleaning committee. Lois enjoyed many things in life, her family being number one. She enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards, having coffee with close friends and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
Lois is survived by four children, Dennis (Lynn) Eickhoff, Darboy; Kirk (Linda) Eickhoff, Hilbert; Tim (Lindsey) Eickhoff, Hortonville; and Mary (Bob) Brumm, Kimberly; six grandchildren, Sarah Eickhoff, Eric Eickhoff, Joshua (Michelle) Eickhoff, Leah Eickhoff (Steve Helms), Tim Brumm and Nicole Brumm; and three great-grandchildren, Shanae LaPean, Ryan Eickhoff and Mariana Eickhoff. Lois also leaves behind a brother, Tom (Marion) Johnson, Greenville; a sister, Bernice Stuyvenberg, Kimberly; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank (Virginia) Johnson and Ralph Johnson; sisters, Margaret (Alfred) Metko, Ethel (Harvey) Reetz and Ruth (Al) Dombrowski; and by a brother-in-law, Richard Stuyvenberg.
The funeral liturgy for Lois will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 204 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly, with Fr. Robert Udulutsch, OFM Cap. officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Thomas Johnson, 86, of Greenville, died Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Appleton Health Center.
Tom was born April 17, 1927, in Appleton, the son of the late Frank and Patrenalla (Verbetin) Johnson. Tom was united in marriage to Marion Fickel on February 23, 1946, in Appleton. Prior to his retirement, Tom worked for Greenville Locker and Park and Market Stores. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and then the United States Army.
Tom had a great sense of humor; he was hard-working, dedicated, kind and loving. He loved reading and playing golf, and in the past was a fisherman. Tom was a guitarist and vocalist with the Melodaires here in the valley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Marion; his son, Steven (Geraldine "Gerri"), Waukesha; his daughter, Dianne (Allan) Fett, New Holstein; two grandchildren, Mathew "Mat" and Abigail "Abby"; and numerous nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by sisters: Ruth (Clair) Swick, Bernice (Richard) Stuyvenberg; brother, Ralph Johnson; Margaret (Alfred) Metko, Ethel (Ray) Verstegen, Lois Eickoff, and brother, Frank (Virginia) Johnson.
The funeral service for Tom will be Tuesday (today) at 7:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Dietzler officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. today until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park.

They were lifelong farmers in the Town of Freed om and together they enjoyed traveling and going to local polka dances. Mary Jane Hendricks, Appleton, age 88, passed away peacefully Saturday December 1, 2012 at St. Paul Home with family at her side. She was born in De Pere on January 11, 1924 to the late Herman and Catherine (Verbeten) Klister. Mary Jane married Leo Hendricks on June 1, 1944 at St. Paul Parish in Wrightstown. Together, they ran the family farm. Mary Jane was a member of the St. John Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth Society. She looked forward to attending Mass each Sunday. Mary Jane was a former member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 Ladies Auxiliary. Mary Jane was devoted to her family and her favorite hobbies included a bell collection, angels, flowers and music.

She attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau and was a member of St. Mary of the Angels in Green Bay.

Mark T. Verbeten, age 89, of Wrightstown, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016. He was born February 13, 1926 in the Town of Buchanan to Arnold and Mary (Nytes) Verbeten. He served his country in the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII before marrying Frances VandeHey in 1949 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2010. Mark touched many young lives through coaching little league baseball and elementary basketball. He and his brother were partners in Oudenhoven Construction Inc. Mark served on the Wrightstown Village Board, was involved in the planning of the Mid-Vallee Golf Course and was a member of the American Legion Post 436 in Wrightstown. As his faith was very important to him, Mark was Trustee at St. Paul Parish in Wrightstown among the many other activities he was involved in there. Throughout his life his example taught love and commitment to faith, family, and community.
Surviving Mark are his six children: Christine (friend Tom Kinate) Taylor of Appleton and her children, Nicholas (Lindsey), Elliott, and Claire; Paul (Peggy) Verbeten of Neenah, and their children, Anne and Abby (Brian) Wilson and their son Carter; Dave (fiancé Bonnie Richtman) Verbeten, Grays Lake, IL and his two sons, Justin (Jackie) and Patrick; Dan (Chris) Verbeten of Wrightstown, and their children, Corey (Tara) and their daughters Addison and Aubrey, Lindsey (Todd) Theunis and Michael; Kay (Robert) Root, Shakopee, MN, and their children, Amie, Mark, and Sam; Lea (Bruce) VandeHey, Wrightstown, and their sons, Aaron, Zachary, and Parker; siblings: Germaine Smith, Marie Thiel, Genevieve Ambrosius and Luke Verbeten; sisters-in-law Gertrude VandeHey, Lee VandeHey and Dorothy Zelzer; and a special friend Joanne Vande Yacht, as well as nieces and nephews.

Genevieve A. Ambrosius, age 88, of Brillion, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, surrounded by her family.
Gen was born on November 18, 1927 in the town of Buchanan, daughter of the late Arnold and Mary (Nytes) Verbeten. She was a graduate of Wrightstown High School, class of 1946. She was employed at the Drug Store in Wrightstown before her marriage. On June 7, 1949, Gen married Robert T. Ambrosius at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2002. Gen was a homemaker, but that didn't mean she stayed in the same spot for very long. Besides raising their children, she was the St. Mary's Catholic Church Coordinator for 16 years, was a member of the Christian Mothers, received the Marian Award for her volunteering, taught religious education, helped organize the Cursillo Retreats, was an organist for St. Mary's Catholic Church, cooked for the Priests and Sisters at the church, was a current member of Holy Family Catholic Parish in Brillion, and pretty much did anything to help. Gen and Bob enjoyed golfing, anywhere. They participated in couples golfing leagues and enjoyed traveling south during the winter. The couple also was very active in the Brillion Area Jaycees and JayCeets, the Brillion Optimist Club, held season tickets and were avid Green Bay Packer Fans, and loved to spend time with their family.

Verbeten, Earl W. “Dreek ”, 1010 Boyd Avenue KaukaunaAge 77, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2001 at his home, followi ng a brief illness. Dreek was born in Wrightstown on July 29, 1924, s on of the late Harold and Helen (Nytes) Verbeten. He married for former Be tty Kraft on August 7, 1946 at St. Mary Church in Kaukauna; Betty preced ed him in death on January 17, 1999. During World War II, he proudly serv ed his country as a member of the United States Navy and was a member of t he Electric City Post #3319 of the VFW. Many will remember Dreek as a 17 y ear veteran of the Kaukauna Police force. After his retirement, he to ok up work in the maintenance department at Kaukauna Cheese. Dreek was a k ind man who enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Boundary Lake, but h is most treasured times were those spent with his children and grandchildr en. Blanche Pynenberg, 81, Little Chute, was welcomed into our Lord's arms on March 8, 2007, after a short illness. She was born January 26, 1926, in Wrightstown, the daughter of the late Harold and Elaine (Nytes) Verbeten. On October 2, 1946, she married Gerald "Jerry" Pynenberg, in Seymour; and became a lifelong resident in Little Chute. Jerry preceded her in death on April 13, 1992. Blanche worked at Zwicker Knitting Mills prior to her marriage and also did part-time waitress work for many local restaurants during her marriage. In addition, Blanche, along with her husband, operated "Jerry's Store" in Little Chute. Many local residents probably remember going to their store to pick out penny candy. Even after Jerry's death, Blanche continued to keep the store open until failing health forced her to close. She had been a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute and had also been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Jacob Coppus Post #258. Blanche enjoyed playing cribbage and sheepshead, spending time at the family cottage on Boundary Lake, and playing croquet with her sisters. She especially loved times spent with her family, her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Blanche can be fondly remembered as always having a smile, no matter what.
Blanche is survived by two daughters: Donna (Dave) Wunrow, Seymour; Connie Van Wychen, Seymour; three sons: Ron (Sue) Pynenberg, Kimberly; Joe (Vickie) Pynenberg, Little Chute; Tim Pynenberg (special friend, Sharon Gassen), Neenah; grandchildren: Ben (Dawn) Van Wychen; Jacob (Rachel) Van Wychen; Donald (Amanda) Pynenberg; Craig Pynenberg; Jason (Cora) Pynenberg; Stacy Pynenberg; great-grandchildren: Spencer and Trevor Van Wychen; Austin, Donovan, Jasmine and Jordan Pynenberg.
She is further survived by a brother, Ralph (Evie) Verbeten; sisters: Lorraine Van Vreede, Florence (Jack) De Goey, Marian "Deede" (Lefty) Helein, Lois (Donald) Gonnering, Carol (Ron) DeBruin; sister-in-law, Doris Verbeten. She is also survived by her god-children and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Blanche was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Terry Van Wychen, a grandson, Cory Pynenberg; brothers: Marlon Verbeten, Earl Verbeten and Robert Verbeten; sisters-in-law: Betty Verbeten, Rita Geurts, Ann Pynenberg, Linda Pynenberg; brothers-in-law: Richard Pynenberg, Leighon Pynenberg and Harvey Van Vreede.
Funeral services for Blanche will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, with Rev. David Funk O.F.M. Cap. officiating. Flossie De Goey, Combined Locks, Age 86, passed away peacefully at St Paul's Home in Kaukauna early Saturday morning on April 18th. She was born on April 24th, 1928 in Wrightstown, WI. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Nytes) Verbeten. On September 2, 1950, Flossie married John (Jack) De Goey at St John's Catholic Church in Seymour. The couple lived in Combined Locks most of their married lives. Flossie worked at Look's Hardware store in Little Chute and was fondly known as the "Paint Lady". She loved to golf and spend time at the cottage. She also liked spending the winter months in Gulfport Mississippi. Flossie endured a long journey with Alzheimer's disease with Jack at her side daily. Flossie is survived by Jack, her husband of 64 years, Jim (Patty) of New London, Steve (Birdie) of Rochester MN, Patti (Dan) Verhagen of Freedom, Diane (Steve) Uphill of Combined Locks, 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is further survived by Lorraine VanVreede, Marion (Deede) Helein, Carol (Ron) DeBruin, Evie Verbeten, Doris Verbeten, Lorry (Don) Phillips, Ken (Sandy) De Goey, Janice De Goey and Donald (Geraldine) De Goey. Ralph G. Verbeten, Little Chute, age 83, died Monday March 18, 2013 at his home. He was born March 1, 1930 in Wrightstown to the late Harold and Helen (Nytes) Verbeten. Ralph married Evelyn Marquardt at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church on January 25, 1951. He was a Naval veteran. Ralph retired from the Appleton Papers, Combined Locks Mill after 40 years of service where he truly enjoyed being a "papermaker." He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cribbage and those that knew him knew he was the "lawnmower." Ralph also loved to spend time at their cottage on Lily River with family and friends.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn; children: Dan (Bonnie) Verbeten and Kathy (Dan) Wells; grandchildren: Nanette (John) Gerrits, Eric Verbeten, Nick (Kellie), Dana and Adam Wells; great grandchildren: Hunter and Spencer Gerrits, Andrew, Emma, Maura, Maeve and Bryce Wells; sisters: Lorraine Van Vreede, Florence (Jack) De Goey, Marian (Clyde) Helein, Lois Gonnering and Carol (Ron) De Bruin; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Doris Verbeten, Wayne "Boots" (Linda), Gary (Mary), Dale, Carol and Pat Marquardt and Helen Olson.

Gladys School, age 85, of Hollandtown, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Brewster Village in Appleton. She was born in Wrightstown on February 20, 1922, daughter of the late George and Marie (Verbeten) Lamers. She married Paul T. School on February 8, 1944 in Wrightstown; he preceded her in death in June of 2006. The couple lived in Hollandtown for most of their married life, moving to their current home in 1947.
Gladys was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. In her younger years, she worked as a staff writer for the DePere Journal, and was also a member of the Urban Klister Post #436 of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wrightstown.
Gladys was a daughter, sister, loving wife and mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and maker of a home extraordinaire. She was a woman who could truly "bake" someone happy.
Survivors include four daughters: Sandy VandeLoo of Eau Claire and her special friend Jack; Lois (Mark) Brown of Kaukauna; Peg (John) Roberts of Oregon, Wisconsin; and Paula (Alex) Zarenko of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; two sons: Jim (Theresa) School of Menasha and Mike (Wendy) School of Chippewa Falls; ten grandchildren: Laurie (Todd) Edelman, Rick (Sarah) VandeLoo, Michael VandeLoo, Jody Bangart and his fiancee Diane, Jill Hegy, Becky (Mike) Dreyer, Jerry Roberts, David Roberts, Kristina Zarenko, and Eric Zarenko; a step-granddaughter, Kendra Tolliver; eleven great-grandchildren: Emily, Megan, and Abby Edelman; Sam, Alex, and Noah VandeLoo; Marissa, Alix, Kinsey, and Tyler Hegy; and Trinity Dreyer. Gladys is also survived by five sisters: Judy Schaeuble of Kaukauna, Isabelle Brochtrup of Little Chute, Toni (Dan) Vander Loop of Kaukauna, Betty (John) Maney of Texas, and Ruth (Jerry) Gerhartz of Racine; several of Paul's brothers and sisters: Eleanor Oppelt, Rita (Roland) VandeHey, Louis (Arlene) School, Bob (Elaine) School, and Art (Marie) School; as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

The family also extends their gratitude to the many special friends and neighbors who cared for both Paul and Gladys over the years. Your kindness will never be forgotten by our family.
Gladys was a warm and generous woman whose home was always open to family and friends. No one was a stranger to her. She will be remembered as a fun-loving woman who also enjoyed making a little mischief from time to time! Mom loved playing a good hand of Rummy with anyone who dared to take her on. She was a huge part of our lives and we will never stop missing her.

On Friday, September 26, 2008, God held out his hand and took our Mom to heaven. Waiting for her was the love of her life, our Dad, Pat Schaeuble; her son, Terry; her grandchildren, Jeremy and Charlene; and daughter-in-law, Raine. Mom was born March 31, 1924, to the late George and Marie Lamers. She grew up on a farm with her sisters: Gladys School, Isabel Brochtrup, Toni (Dan) Vanderloop, Betty (John) Maney and Ruth (Jerry) Gerharz; and her brothers, Roy and Bob Lamers.
She married Elton (Pat) Schaeuble on August 11, 1943. They farmed most of their lives. Raising eight children: Ron (Phylis), Nancy (Jim) Pegel, Terry (Cheyenne), Jim (Mary), Steve (Barb), Ken, Scott (Tammy), and Debbie (Mike) Wochinski. Many special people came to be part of our extended family, like John (Joyce) Peterson, Doug Gerlach and too many others to mention. We know everyone who met our mom was made to feel special by her kind and loving ways. To know Mom was to love her. She was kind and generous to everyone she met. She had the kind of energy that cannot be replaced. She will be missed by many friends and all her family. I'm sure she is with Dad and Terry, playing cards with her family and enjoying time spent with Bucky and Char.

Rodney M. Verbeten, 72, De Pere, formerly of Greenleaf, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 15, 2008. He was born on December 14, 1935, to the late William, and Coletta (Meulemans) Verbeten. On February 10, 1968, he married Anna Jane Fritsch. Rodney retired from the Brown Co. Highway Dept., he then went to work for Ed Gersek Trucking. He enjoyed woodworking and made pieces for his whole family. Rodney was a veteran of the United States Army, having served two years.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Jane; his children: Mary (Ken) VanWychen, Kathy (Mike) Keyzer, Daniel (Bonnie) Gilson, Susan (Daniel) Diedrick, Joseph (Lisa) Gilson; as well as 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Rodney's sisters and brothers further survive: Donna (Jerry) Wall, Mary (Dave) Feller, Sharon (Terry) Suttner, Douglas (Dorothy) Verbeten, Dean (Barb) Verbeten, Linda (Mike) Hanaway, William (Sharon) Verbeten; and his brothers-in-law: William Shilbauer and Joseph Zeller.

Van Gompel, Robert J. "Gumps" 73, Little Chute, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at his home with his family by his side following a courageous battle with lung cancer and Alzheimer's. He was born Aug. 6, 1934, in Little Chute, son of Martin and Ardena (Verbeten) Van Gompel. He attended school at St. John's and joined the Army in 1953. He was stationed in Japan and then served in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1956. Bob was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute and the VFW Post #3319, Kaukauna. On July 9, 1968, Bob married his soul mate Lorraine. He worked for Thilmany for 10 years and in 1967, he joined the Village of Little Chute Street Department and was employed there for 30 years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lorraine; his children, Jackie Wettstein, Peggy Christel, Sue (Roger) Sabel, Hope Van Gompel, David Wettstein and Mike (Gina) Van Gompel; his sisters and brothers, Joan Johnson Seymour, Sharen (Tom) Wolf and Kathy Van Gompel, all of Little Chute; Paul (Kathy) Van Gompel, Medina; Martin (Dace) Van Gompel, Waupaca; sisters-in-law, Carol Pingel, Gresham; Melinda (Gene) Taylor, Bradley, Ill.; Rose Mary (Robert) Deshand, Bourbonnais, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Jack (Stephanie) Eldred, Manitowoc and Roger (Shirley) Eldred, Chilton. Kathy D. Van Gompel, 67, of Little Chute, passed away Monday, December 9, 2013, at her home. She was born July 19, 1946, daughter of the late Martin and Ardena (Verbeten) Van Gompel. Kathy lived her life to the fullest, and always had herself a good time. She loved shooting pool, playing softball, working on puzzles, bowling, skiing and she was an avid reader. She enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers and loved to travel, especially up to the family cottages. Kathy's group of friends, "The Hens" were inseparable. They did a lot together and she will be truly missed.
Kathy owned and operated "Kathy's Kut 'N' Kurl", in Appleton, for many years and had a special place in her heart for all of her "Ladies" from the shop. Kathy's nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews were so very special to her, and they will all miss their favorite aunt Kathy.
Kathy is survived by her siblings: Joan Johnson, Martin "Todd" Van Gompel, Sharen (Tom) Wolf and Paul (Kathy) Van Gompel; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Van Gompel; nieces and nephews: Rick, Randy, Cheri, Julie, Brenda, Marty, Holly, Dave, Lee, Karen, Katie, Josh, Gabe, Mike, Hope, David, Susie and Peggy; many special great nieces and nephews; her Godchildren: Carrie Peeters, Lee Wolf, Julie Johnson, Chuck Romenesko, Amanda Scheuler and Jared Johnson; two aunts: Lilian Ruckdashel and Veronica Gloudemans; and many other family members and dear friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Karen Van Gompel; a brother, Robert Van Gompel; a sister-in-law, Dace Van Gompel; a brother-in-law, Richard "Nig" Johnson and a great niece, Emma Bork.
Memorial services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Inurnment will be at St. John Cemetery, next to her sister, parents and grandparents. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

Thomas W. Nienhaus, 77, Panama City Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 27, 2013. He was born December 12, 1936, in Greenleaf, WI, to Arnold Nienhaus and Lillian (Verbaeten) Nienhaus Ruckdashel. He married Dorothy A. Nienhaus May 15, 1965. He was the owner of Kustom Klean, a successful custodial company in Oshkosh, WI. After selling his business he worked at EAA in Oshkosh, WI. Thomas was currently retired, living in Florida. He resided in Oshkosh from 1966-1991, Neshkoro from 1991-2010 and Florida from 2010-present. He loved having coffee every morning with some dear friends, Big Jack and Little Jack. He also enjoyed playing cards and bingo with his friends at the PCB Senior Center. He will always be remembered as a great provider and his fun loving spirit. He will be greatly missed his only child, daughter, Merrie (Kevin) Pionke, Walkersville, MD; two grandsons; mother Lillian (Verbaeten) Nienhaus Ruckdashel of Greenville, WI; sister, Judy (Bill) Moeller of Hortonville; 3 brothers Frank (Sheila) Nienhaus of Oshkosh; Arnold (Mary) of New London; Richard (Marsha) of Portland, OR; nieces and nephews. Jeffrey Charles "Jeff" Verbeten, 60, of Port Republic, MD passed away on April 22, 2012 in Solomons, MD. He was born in January 1952 in Appleton, WI to Hilda Verbeten and the late Charles Verbeten. He was the beloved husband of Catherine Verbeten whom he married on November 19, 1975 in Landover, MD.
Jeff graduated from Kimberly High School in 1970 and went on to join the US Navy. He served his country honorably from 1970 to 1976. While in the Navy, he received the National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Award. Jeff went on to become a Communication Analyst for the Executive Office of the President of the United States where he worked for 30 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed shark tooth hunting, computer pinball, reading, and watching the Green Bay Packers.
Jeff is survived by his mother, Hilda Verbeten; wife, Catherine Verbeten; children, Elisa VanDevander and husband Brian, Joshua Verbeten and wife Alice, and Katherine Verbeten; grandchildren, Vanessa Verbeten, Michael Verbeten, Natalie VanDevander, Dylan VanDevander, and Madelyn VanDevander and siblings, Bruce Verbeten and Debby Verbeten. Alfred William "Al" Metko, age 77, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. Al was born to the late Alfred and Margaret (Johnson) Metko on November 6, 1935 in Mattoon, Wisconsin. On April 18, 1959, he married Audrey Schuh. Al worked for Miller Electric for over 41 years, retiring in 1996. He loved working with tools and had many. He also loved going up north to Gene's cottage, riding his 4 wheeler, golf cart or his tractor, and camping with his family.
Al is survived by his wife of 53 years, Audrey, his children: Maria Peterson, and her children; Mariah, granddaughter, Eden, son, Maverick; Joseph (Cara) Metko, their children; Joshua, Stacey (Jason) Beran, and granddaughter Ava; Eugene Metko, his daughter, Karissa; Vicki (Andy) Edlebeck, their children; Jackson, Spencer and Cody; Mark (Samantha) Metko and their children; Muriel, Martin, Charlie and George; Andy (Stephanie) Metko. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.

Erbin "Erb" Metko, 58, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Cherry Meadows Hospice. Erb was born on December 27, 1957 to Alfred and Margaret (Johnson) Metko. He married Ella Vaughan on April 18, 1987. Erb worked for 40 years at Miller Electric and he loved his job and coworkers, they were like family. He enjoyed fishing, music, going up north, and the weather. Spending time with his nephew, his daughter and grandchildren was always special and those times will always be treasured.

Erb was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Grant Vaughan, and brothers; Jerry and Al (Audrey) Metko, brothers-in-law; Dave Hammond and Bert Joseph Vaughan, and a sister-in-law Vicky Vaughan.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM at CHRIST THE ROCK, W 6254 Highway 10-114 Menasha. Appleton - Richard M. "Rick" Stuyvenberg, age 67, of Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, after a long courageous battle with COPD. He was born on July 25, 1950, son of the late Richard and Bernice (Johnson) Stuyvenberg. On October 29, 1993, Rick married Carol Liebergen at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown.
Rick was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. He then worked for 40 years as a pipefitter at the Combined Locks Paper Mill (Appleton Coated). Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting trains, his classic car and Harley Davidsons.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Carol Stuyvenberg; a sister, Patricia Stuyvenberg, Kimberly; a brother, Jack (Peggy) Stuyvenberg, Appleton; nieces: Katie Stuyvenberg, Abbey Stuyvenberg (Goddaughter), and Molly (Cody) Vande Wettering; a great niece, Saylor Vande Wettering; mother-in-law, Lois Liebergen; brothers and sisters-in-law: Paula (John) Van Dyck and their children who are all Rick's Godchildren: Alex, Eric, Ryan and Jennifer Van Dyck, Conrad (Lisa) Liebergen, Tim (Lou Ann) Liebergen and Mark (Jean) Liebergen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Bernice Stuyvenberg and his father-in-law, Clayton Liebergen.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. Full military honors will be performed by the Unites States Army and the American Legion Post #258 after the Mass. Interment will be in Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly. Jeffrey Leo Hendricks, Little Chute, age 65, died Wednesday October 21, 2015. He was born in Freedom, WI on July 12, 1950 to Henry and Agnes (Klister) Hendricks. Jeff married his high school sweetheart Darlene Nackers at St. Nicholas Parish on November 6, 1970.
After 35 years of selling Pierce firetrucks, Jeff went on to own and operate his own business, Hendricks Fire Sales/Service. In 1992 Jeff joined the Little Chute Fire Department where he proudly served until he retired in 2010, at the age of 60. Throughout the years, Jeff enjoyed many vacations with friends and family which included fishing trips, golf outings, and Disney excursions.
Family was the most important thing to Jeff. His commitment and dedication to his family was his first priority. He spent countless hours helping his son build houses, driving his daughters across the country for college, and helping all of his children with endless number of moves. Some of Jeff's happiest times were spent cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events and just spending time with them. His family meant the world to him and he was so loved by them.
Jeff is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Darlene; children: Traci Hendricks of Madison; Travis (Ashley) Hendricks of Middleton; Kelly (Jason) Rogers of Chicago; and Kerri (Troy) Kilgas of Kaukauna; grandchildren: Noah and Ava Hipwell, Addilyn and Mason Hendricks, and Anna and Brady Kilgas; his father, Hank (Jean) Hendricks; sisters and brother: Donna (Jerry) Smith, Vonnie (Mike) Garvey, Vicky (Joel) Schulz and Todd (Tanya) Hendricks; mother-in-law, Mary Nackers; brothers and sisters-in-law: Wayne (Jean) Nackers, Tom (fiancée Lynn) Nackers, Diane (Tom) Busse, Bill (Donna) Nackers, Sue (Dave) Vatland and Bud (Lila) Nackers; and Godchildren: Michael Garvey, Jodi Olmsted, Dan Nackers and Jackie Garcia. After a long, hard and courageous battle with Scleroderma, Joey was welcomed into our Lord's Kingdom. He passed away in the morning on July 30, 2015, at Appleton Medical Center with his family at his side.
Joey was born on May 19, 1956, son of Jerry and Blanche Pynenberg. He graduated from Little Chute High School. Joey met the girl of his dreams, Vickie Vande Burgt, the love of his life. They were united in marriage on November 5, 1977. Joey and Vickie were blessed with two children, Jason and Stacy, and three grandchildren: Jasmine, Jordan and Joshua.
Joey worked at Appvion (Appleton Papers) from June of 1974 until his disability forced him to retire in January of 2015. He loved his job and all of his friends that he made. Joey loved spending time at their Boundary Lake Cottage with his family and siblings. If he wasn't fishing, he was playing cribbage or more recently engaged in heated domino games. He was a good woodworker and made beautiful pieces of furniture for just about every family member. He was so proud of what he could accomplish, and we'll all cherish the items we have because they were make with love. Joey, when healthy, loved deer hunting with is brothers, sister, brother-in-law, son, daughter and nephews. So many stories from these escapades all to bring smiles. Just like Joey's sense of humor and joke telling. An amazing man who will be so deeply missed.
Joey is survived by his loving, devoted wife, Vickie; his son, Jason (Cora) Pynenberg, and their son Joshua Pynenberg; his daughter, Stacy Pynenberg, and her children Jasmine and Jordan. He is further survived by his sisters: Donna (Dave) Wunrow and Connie Van Wychen; brothers: Ron (Sue) Pynenberg and Tim Pynenberg (special friend, Sharon Gassen); mother-in-law, Marlene Allen (special friend, Wayne Robinson; brothers-in-law: Jeff Vande Burgt and Jay (Kim) Vande Burgt; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Green Bay - Nancy Anne (Schaeuble) Alsteen, age 73, went peacefully home to heaven on Saturday April 28th, 2018 surrounded by her family, in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Nancy was born on November 8th, 1944 to parents Pat and Judy Schaeuble. She graduated from college with a degree in Nursing and moved to Green Bay, WI and accepted a position as a nurse/medical assistant. Throughout her career she worked primarily in Dermatology eventually retiring after working more than 25 years in the field.
Nancy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family. She married James Alsteen and the couple had 5 children together. Her children were always very important to her and she was very proud of them.
Nancy was actively involved in her church for the majority of her life. She enjoyed singing, spending time outside, and being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving, caring, and genuinely compassionate person.
She is preceded in death by first husband James Alsteen and her second husband James Pegel. Her parents Elton & June (Lamers) Schaeuble, grandparents Marie & George Lamers and Charles & Alma Schaeuble, brother Terry Schaeuble, sister-in-law Raine Schaeuble, niece Charlene Schaeuble, nephew Jeremy Schaeuble, great-niece Khloe Schaeuble, as well as many aunts and uncles.
Nancy is survived by her 5 children: JulieAnne (Tim) Bresser, Christine (Tim) Pattermann, Ken (Carrie) Alsteen, Dan Alsteen, and Nick (Jenna) Alsteen. Her 14 grandchildren: Kailey Alsteen, Sammie Younger, Cole Younger, Allison McDonald, Isabella McDonald, Edward Pattermann, Abbie Rogers, Maddie Alsteen, Finn Alsteen, Lizzie Alsteen, Gavin Alsteen, Jack Alsteen, Monroe Alsteen, and Jake Alsteen. Her 4 great-grandchildren: Micah Alsteen, Aurora Trzebiatowski, Avrielle Younger, and Liliana Samperisi. Siblings: Ron (Phyllis) Schaeuble, Cheyenne Schaeuble, Jim (Skip) Schaeuble, Steve (Barb) Schaeuble, Ken Schaeuble, Scott (Tammy) Schaeuble, Debbie (Mike) Wochinski as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9-11 am followed by a memorial / celebration of life service at St. Francis Catholic Church (433 County Rd CE, Hollandtown, WI) on May 19 th . Father Willy Vandeloo will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nancy's life. The family would like to thank the staff of 6th floor ICU at St Vincent Hospital as well as Unity Hospice for the excellent care they gave Nancy.
