    Stier, Ronald J., Ronald, age 71, of Appleton, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born September 11, 1937, in Weyauwega, son of the late Harold and Florence (Soper) Stier. He married Shirley Klister on June 28, 1960. Ron was employed by Menasha Tissue Mill, Miller Electric and for 17 years he was employed by F. Dohmen Company until he retired in 1991.
    He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 46 years. He was a dedicated loving father and a good provider for his family and always enjoyed helping his children when needed. Ron was a jet engine mechanic while serving in the Air Force from 1957 to 1960.
    Ron is survived by his wife Shirley; two daughters and a son-in-law: Catherine C. Lohr of Menasha; Susan and Gregory Berg, Appleton; three grandchildren: Katelyn Lohr; Leah and Nate Berg; former son-in-law: Ralph E. Lohr; four sisters-in-law: Mary Jane Hendricks, Kaukauna; Rosemary Smith, Sussex; Kathleen (Robert) Ostrenga, Green Bay; Carol (Carl) Newhouse, Kaukauna; a brother-in-law: Hank (Jeanne) Hendricks, Freedom, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
    He was preceded in death by a son, James; four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
    Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., with Rev. Robert Karuhn officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the Sacred Heart Room at Sacred Heart Church Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
    The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff in ICU at St. Elizabeth Hospital, especially to Joel in ICU and Sister Goretti.
