Robert W. Nolan, 64, passed away on Jan. 6, 2012, in Phoenix, Ariz., doing what he loved best, golfing. He was born in Appleton, Wis., on Feb. 7, 1947. He attended Xavier High School and Appleton West High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Rita Kohl, on Sept. 4, 1965. His first daughter, Michelle, was born in 1967 and his second daughter, Lisa, in 1969. They raised their family in Weyauwega, where they have been until the present.
He was a salesman all his life. He sold Catholic magazines at 16 years of age. He then went on to sell shoes at Big Shoe Store in Appleton. He started selling for Mory Distributing, Sysco, where he sold meat to many fine restaurants, schools and supper clubs, The Pine Tree being one of his favorites. He had his own shoe store in Waupaca, Step-In-Shoe Store, in the 70s and 80s. He started selling potatoes for Loretzen Farms and went on to start his own business, White Lake Marketing, where he was known as Potato Bob.
Bob loved baseball, the Green Bay Packers, shooting pool, fishing, hunting, painting and most of all, golf. He loved spending time with his family. He will always be remembered as the Life Of The Party! Bob had a way of making friends with complete strangers and putting smiles on their faces with his witty sense of humor. This was never more evident than in his last hours before his passing.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Rita; his daughter, Michelle, and husband, Bart, along with their sons, Spencer Nolan Young, who is majoring in Graphic Arts at St. Norbert College in De Pere, where he shares the same passion for art as his Grandfather, Hunter Young, who excelled in high school football for the Shiocton Chiefs. Grandpa loved to see his H-Train run. He was so excited to go to Madison to see them play at State; daughter, Lisa, and husband, Keith, along with their daughters, Megan (fiance, Eric Ewert) and Emily. Megan will always be her Grandpa's "Pookie" as she was his first grandchild. He was so proud of her being such a great mom and loved spending time with his only great-grandchild, Brock. Emily, Grandpa's little "Emmerz", will be remembered by her grandfather as a strong lady and a free spirit like himself. He is further survived by brothers, Dave (Chris) Nolan, son, Jared, and daughters, Kara and Kelsey; Gary Nolan, sons, Ryan and Christopher; sister, Laurie (Randy) Miller, son, Cody, and daughter, Casey, who always had a special place in her uncle's heart; sister Cheryl's children, Scott and Randy Endres, and daughter, Heather Gryboski.
