Biography:
John W. Vandenberg was born in Holland and came to the United States when about thirty-five years of age, bringing with him his mother and a brother, Gilbert, and two sisters, Harriet and Anne. He settled first for a time in- Washington county, Wisconsin.
and then came to Freedom township, Outagamie county,buying wild land, which later was developed into the flourishing
farm now occupied by his son Lambert. The children were bornhere in the little log house and Lambert Vandenberg, although possessedof an intense desire for a good education, received only meageropportunities, what little tuition he secured being received in thelittle red schoolhouse in Freedom, which he attended during a fewmonths in the year when there was nothing to do on the farm. Hisprincipal school, however, was the school of hard work, and whenstill a little lad was given almost a grown man's work to accomplisheach day, but this probably instilled in him the traits of thrift,economy and perseverance and fitted him for the struggle that wasto come afterwards and which was eventually to lead him to success.At the age of eighteen years he left home and went to Iowa, wherefor two years he worked on a farm, and then returned home. Hewas married July 10, 1894, to Miss Elizabeth Scholl, daughter ofJohn Scholl of Freedom township, and to this union there have beenborn fourteen children, of whom three are deceased, the living being:John, Ellen, Joseph, Theodore, Johannah, Minnie, Vincent, Agnes,
Rosella, Elmer and Angeline. When he was first married, Mr.Vandenberg rented the home place for three years and then boughtthe property, on which he has carried On general farming ever since.He is known as a public-spirited citizen, and during the past fewyears has served his township as postmaster. He and his wife belong to the Catholic Church in the village of Freedom.

Gilbert and Mary (Vanden En g) Vandenberg's children were: Sylvestor, married to Ceil Vanden Bloome n; Clarence "Mike", married to Loraine Gonnering; Stella, Sister Germain e, Regina, married to Edward Hendricks; Leo, married to Marian De Goey; a nd Alvin, married to Leona Brown.Several of the sons of John W. and Mary (Sas) Vandenberg played in a Bra ss Band for many years around 1900. Years of observance of the best methods havebrought the occupation of farming up to the standard of one of thesciences, and the constant improving of farming machinery hasdone wonders in making the harvesting of large crops a certainty.John Vandenberg, one of the scientific farmers of Grand Chute township,
was born March 16, 1860, in Little Chute township, Outagamie
county, Wisconsin, a son of John and Mary (Vandenberg)
Vandenberg. The parents of Mr. Vandenberg were both born inHolland, in which country they were married, and came to Americain 1858, locating in Little Chute, where Mr. Vandenberg worked olthe canal for a few years and then bought a little farm in what iscalled Brookstown, which he cultivated until his death in 1903,his widow surviving him but a few years. They were the parentsof six children: Peter, a merchant of Marinette; John; Mary, the
wife of Henry Van Gompel, a farmer of Little Chute; Anton, afarmer of Brookstown; Henry, a farmer of Buchanan township; andGeorge, a motorman on the interurban line, Little Chute. JohnVandenberg secured his education in the schools of his native district,
and resided at home until his marriage, although he workedout among the farmers of Little Chute township. He then securedemployment in the Little Chute mill, where he continued to workuntil 1907, and in' that year purchased the farm which he' nowoperates, a tract of fifty-two acres which he devotes to general and
dairy farming. He is a member of the Roman Catholic Church,and belongs to the old Catholic organization known as Saint Johns.In politics he is a Democrat, but he has been too busy to engage
actively in any matters of a public nature.
On October 11, 1886, Mr. Vandenberg was married to MissKatie Verhagen, born in Brookstown, in 1864, daughter of Ienryand Hattie Van Hammond Verhagen, early settlers of Brookstownand natives of Holland. Mrs. Vandenberg was left an orphan at atender age, and she was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Vanroy, ofLittle Chute, with whom she made her home until her marriage.



ANTONE J. VANDENBERG, chairman of, the township board ofVandenbroek township, and one of the well known and successfulagriculturists of this locality, is'the owner of 104 acres of fine farmingland. He is a son of John Vandenberg, who was born in Hollandand came to the United States with his wife, Mary, landing atNew York City, April 17, 1858. He came direct to Little Chute,
Outagamie county, and secured employment on the NorthwesternRailroad at twenty-five cents per day, work at that time being veryscarce, and later was employed on the Government Canal at littlebetter wages, but in a few years, by the strictest kind of economyand frugality he had saved enough to enable him to purchase thirtyacres in Vandenbroek township, then known as Kaukauna township.He built a little log cabin on this property, but on account of lackof funds was compelled to work on the canal for a time longer. Hisfirst team was a pair of cows, with which he did his farming for thefirst few years, but he was a hard and consistent worker, and addedto his equipment from time to time as his finances would allow, lateradding ten acres to his home property and buying land in otherparts of the township, and he eventually became known as one of thesubstantial men of his township, serving, for a, number of years asclerk of his school district. His wife died on the homestead farm,in 1889, aged sixty-three years, and Mr. Vandenberg passed awaythere in 1901, when seventy years of age. Antone J. Vandenbergwas born January 24, 1864, on his father's farm, one of a family ofsix children of whom five were boys. He received his education inthe district schools of the neighborhood, and as a lad lived with hisfather, although he worked out a good deal to help the family, andassisted in erecting many of the buildings in South Kaukauna. Atthe age of twenty-five years he struck out on his own account, andwith his brother John purchased 200 acres of land in Freedom township,which they sold after improving it, and Antone purchased another
farm in what is now Vandenbroek township. On October 14,1890, he was married to Matilda Boyle, who was born in Freedomtownship, daughter of Barney Boyle, and after marriage purchasedhis present farm He has built a good, modern home and substantialbarns and outbuildings on this property, and later added to itby purchase, now owning 104 acres, all of which he has brought upto a high state of cultivation. Mr. and Mrs. Vandenberg have hadtwelve children, one of whom, Raymond, died at the age of ninemonths, while the others are: Arthur, Rose, George, Roy, Mary,Edward, Helen, Ethel, Anne, Ida and Toney. The family is connected
with the Catholic Church of Little Chute. Mr. Vandenbergwas on the side board for five years, has been clerk of his school distric tfor four years, and was elected in the spring of 1911 to the position
of chairman of the township board. For nine years he served
as a director in the Hail and Cyclone Insurance Company.

She is an old settler in Freedom having lived there about fifty years. Survivors are her husband Henry Romeneska and her children, Wm. Biography:
Lambert Vandenberg, one of the self-made men of Outagamie County, who h as become successful as an agriculturist through the force of his own indu stry, hard work and perserverance, backed by a strong determination to wi n, was born on the family farm which he now occupies, June 14, 1864, and is a son of John W. and Mary (Sass) Vandenberg. John W. Vandenberg w as born in Holland and came to the United States when about 35 years of ag e, bringing with him his mother and a brother Gilbert and two sisters, Har riet and Anne. He settled first for a time in Washington County, Wisconsi n, and then came to Freedom township, Outagamie county, buying wild lan d, which later was developed into the flourishing farm now occupied by h is son Lambert. The children were born here in a little log house and Lamb ert Vandenberg, although possessed of an intense desire for a good educati on, received only meager opportunities, what little tuition he secured bei ng received in the little red schoolhouse in Freedom, which he attended du ring a few months a year when there was nothing to do on the farm. His pri ncipal school however, was the school of hard work, and when still alitt le lad was given almost a grown man's work to accomplish each day, but th is probably instilled in him the traits of thrift, economy and perserveran ce and fitted him for the struggle that was to come afterwards and which e ventually to lead him to success. At eighteen years of age he left home a nd went to Iowa, where for two years he worked on a farm, and then return ed home. He was married on July 10, 1894 to Miss Elizabeth Scholl, daught er of John Scholl of Freedom township, and to this union there have been b orn 14 children, of whom three are deceased, the living being: John, Elle n, Joseph, Theodore, Johannah, Minnie, Vincent, Agnes, Rosella, Elmer a nd Angeline. When he was first married, Mr. Vandenberg rented the home place for three years, and then bought the property, on which he has carri ed on general farming ever since. He is known as a public-spirited citizen, and during the past years has served the township as postmaster. He a nd his wife belong to the Catholic Church in the village of Freedom.

Freedom -- Mrs. Matthew VanDyke, 53, died at 6:30 Tuesday night at her home after a four week's illness. Survivors are the widower, six sons, Oscar of Appleton, Sylvester of Kaukauna, Joseph, Theodore, Lambert and Edward at home; four daughters, Adeline, Barbara, Mary and Martha also at home; five brothers, Vernell, Gerald, Gilbert, Matthew Vandenberg, all of Freedom and Theodore of Kaukauna; one sister, Lobina, Prairie du Chien; one grandchild. Theodore Pennings. 68. 840 Kamps avenue, died at 3:10 Friday afternoon following a lingering illness. He was born in the town of Freedom Sept. 5. 1868. and lived on a farm there until eight years ago when he came to Appleton He was a member of St. Therese church.

PNEUMONIA FATAL TO FREEDOM LADY
Funeral Services for Miss Jennie Ebben were Held from Church Saturday
Freedom - Funeral services for Miss Jennie Ebben, 31, were held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning from St. Nicholas church with the Rev. Father Peters in charge. Members of the Young Ladies Sodality acted as pallbearers. Burial was in Freedom Catholic Cemetery.
Miss Ebben died Thursday morning at her home from pneumonia. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ebben; two sisters, Mary and Lena; six brothers, Henry, Herman, Gerhard, John, Raymond, and Aloysious.

Ed and Donna us ed to live on South Oneida St., in Appleton, renting from the esta te of my Aunt Evelyn Rickert Stadler. My parents lived across the stree t, so we saw Ed and Donna on many occasions. My mom used to babysit for B rad and Doug, their 2 oldest. Many, many years ago the John Rickert Fami ly celebrated a Centennial. I do not have a copy, but recall it was ve ry detailed, with many old pictures. It was an excellent history of the f amily and the area. I suggest you contact Ed or Donna to see if he h as a copy. I did not attend, but I believe they may have. If not, I am s ure Richard and Dorothy Rickert would have one, as he purchased the old Ri ckert homestead. Hope this helps. As far as Uncle Ted and Aunt Mary Vandenberg, we had good times at the ir home. Uncle Ted played the organ and sang the song, "If I Had But 50 C ents." Jay and Paul, I am reading the data on these individuals that appears to h ave come from Jay, an Ancestry.com tree and WFT Vol 82 Tree 1003.On closer inspection, the birth dates of the three Weber children indica te that she probably married Joe Weber before 1922 and Louis Meyer after 1 927. So I dug deeper and found that the three children were attribut ed to a Joseph B and wife Marie in the 1930 census for Richfield Twp, Wash ington Co., WI.This leads me to conclude that the Ancestry.com tree is for the wrong coup le and Jay and WFT are more correct. Therefore I am dropping the three ch ildren and establishing the 6/01/26 wedding date as being the Meyer weddi ng (as did Jay).I would also guess that the marriage to Weber took place in about 1919 bas ed on their ages and Weber's date of death, but that is a bit of a reach.Do either of you have any idea as to where I should look? Merle Vandenberg, 92, Kimberly, dearly loved by everyone who was blessed to know him, was born to eternal life Sunday, January 31, 2010, at St. Paul Villa, Kaukauna. He was born November 8, 1917, in Freedom, the seventh son and 14th child of Lambert and Elizabeth (Scholl) Vandenberg. Merle married Jayne VandenHeuvel May 9, 1953, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, and she preceded him in death on July 19, 2009, exactly 28 weeks prior to Merle's death.
Merle was a devoted husband to Jayne and a loving father to Lynne Bishop (Bill Ficken), Spooner; Guy (Deb) Vandenberg, Lino Lakes, MN; and Joy (Steve) Wind, Sleepy Hollow, IL. He was loved deeply by his grandchildren: Aiden and Blake Bishop, Kyle and Gavin Vandenberg, and Kaley and Casey Wind, as well as all his grand-dogs. Jayne and Merle had lived in the same house on Jefferson Place in Kimberly for 52 years.
They were members of Holy Name Parish, Kimberly, for many years, and recently re-joined St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, where Merle found great peace in attending daily mass. Merle was employed at the Bank of Little Chute (BLC Community Bank) for many years, and Van Zeeland Implement Company prior to that. In his later years, he took great joy in volunteering, first at Holy Name, then with Meals on Wheels, and St. Vincent de Paul. Merle was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served in World War II. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his God and his family, Merle had a great love for music, and he reminisced about all the bands he saw in his younger days. During their retirement, Merle and Jayne enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Spooner Lake in Northwestern Wisconsin. There they made fond memories for several summers with their children, grandchildren and new friends.
In addition to his family, Merle is survived by a sister-in-law, Ceil Vandenberg; three brothers-in-law: Harold (Marian), Roman, and Ben (Priscilla) VandenHeuvel; many marvelous nieces and nephews, wonderful neighbors of over 50 years, and many friends. We were truly blessed to have had him with us for so very long, but we will miss him tremendously. He was a genuine inspiration to all who knew him.
Merle was also preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Sarah Vandenberg; eight sisters: Elly (Jack) Hooyman, Jane (Joe Weber) (Louis Meyer), Min (Ott) Verstegen, Ag (Frank) DeBruin "Gramma and Papa Brown," Roselle (Mart) VanAsten, Angeline (Paul) Pairon, Florence (Pete) DeMunck, Myrtle "Snooky" (Jap) Liebergen; 7 brothers: John (Delphina "Dimps"), Joe (Laura), Ted (Mary), Vince (Nell), Elmer "Bummy" (Ena), Gordon "Butch," Aloys "Bud" (Ceil) Vandenberg; three brothers-in-law: Noel (Ellen Hammen), Gus (Nancy Holmes), Roger (Carole) VandenHeuvel; 10 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Bert Ebben officiating. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom. Visitation will be at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and again at the church from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of the mass. Military honors will be performed by the U.S. Army Air Force/Corps and members of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, Little Chute following mass at the church.

A Story of Nick & Gertie (From Jane Springstroh book)
Nicholas worked in a paper mill in Niagara falls (TRD Note - Niagara WI ?? ??- Needs check) for a short time before his marriage. After their marri age, they lived in Racine, WI and he worked at Case Plows factory for o ne year. They then moved to a farm at West De Pere, WI and farmed f or 41 years. They built a home at Gertie's present address and retire d. The home is a half mile from the farm. Their son, Douglas took over t he farm.
Nick became ill a few years later with a number of small strokes. It w as on Nov 1 of 1973 that he had a massive stroke and died on Nov 2, 1973.
Gertie kept busy making patch quilts and visiting with friends.

Loretta Malkowski, Sept. 6, 1908 - Oct. 13, 2004, Loretta S. Malkowski, 96, passed away early Wednesday morning at Vallejo C are Center after a long illness.
She was born in Freedom, Wis., on Sept. 6, 1908. She was the ninth of 15 c hildren born to Cornelius and Magdelen Vandenberg.
Mrs. Malkowski, her husband and daughter, came to Vallejo in May of 194 2. She was employed at various places including Community Hospital (Kais er Permanente), Levee's Department Store and Rough Rider Pants Facto ry in Napa.
After retiring, she spent 13 years working as Sacristan at St. Vincent Fer rer Catholic Church, arranging flowers and caring for the altar, etc. S he attended St. Vincent's Catholic Church and was a member of the Third Or der of St. Dominic, St. Elizabeth's Unit of the Catholic Social Service a nd a member of Hilltop Senior Activity Center. She enjoyed gardening and s ewing.
Her husband Frank Malkowski, her three sisters and 11 brothers predeceas ed her. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Herb) McCullum of Valle jo and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a rosary and vigil at 7 p. m. Monday at Colonial Chapels, Vallejo. A Mass of Christian burial wi ll be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Vallejo. Entom bment at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, Vallejo.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Biography:
A story of Clem & Margaret - Clem - I was born in 1912, the year the Model T Ford came out. At six yea rs of age, I walked 112 miles to a one room school located on the corn er of Mc Cabe'Road & Golden Glow Road (the schoolhouse now stands on Bob V andenberg's farm). The school had all eight grades and one teacher. T he teacher and pupils did the janitor work and we felt quite proud when o ur turn came to fire the stove and wind the clock. Our lunch buckets wou ld freeze in the hall and we carried our water from Pat Mc Cabes nearb y. We looked forward to a picnic at the end of the year. I walked to S t. Nick's for First Communion and Confirmation instructions. After eight y ears of grade school, I walked 312 miles to Freedom High School. After gr aduation I worked on the farm. In 1936 my father passed away and the ne xt vear we bought the farm. I knew Margie thru school, never thinking s he would be my wife. We lived through the worst depression in histor y. We struggled together and God gave us six wonderful children.My mother stayed with us for 17 years. She was a large woman and had diab etes and was confined to a wheel chair. I think 17 years is a record f or a mother-in-law living under the same roof as her daughterin-la w. I am proud of Margie for caring for and putting up with mother as s he was not an easy person to live with. Mother took turns staying at t he homes of other brothers and sisters in the area after Margie became i ll and the doctor told her she was trying to handle too niuch. We took o ur turn several more time through the years.After 38 years on the farm on County Trunk S, we sold the farm to a catt le dealer. We moved near Freedom on County Trunk UU across from Fox Vall ey Golf Course, where I learned to play golf and take life easy. We ho pe to stay here the rest of our lives.Margie and I play Scrabble and I enjoy reading. We visit the sick and t he old and lonely whenever possible. We've done some traveling since reti ring.

Before the advent of modern machinery we farmed the hard way, by han d. We cut the grain with a binder that tied a piece of twine around each b undle and dropped it on the ground to be picked up and put into shoc ks to dry. From there it was picked up by a fork by hand and loaded on to a wagon to be put into the barn and wait for a threshing machine to thr esh it. Soon this was done away with and threshed from the shocks. The s ame was done with the corn. Loaded onto a wagon and hauled to the silo fi ller that cut it up into 1411 pieces and blown into the silo to cure.Hay was hauled by a team of horses and wagon and put into the barn whe re we fed it to cows daily throughout the winter. The manure was wheel ed onto a pile and hauled onto the land and spread with a manure spread er which took the place of spreading it with a fork by hand.We grew all our own vegetables and apples for the winter and butchered o ur own hogs and beef for the family.When a barn was to be built, neighbors got together and had a raising b ee supervised by a carpenter. Neighbors and families did everything toget her. They had husking bees, barn raising bees, wood sawing bees, quilti ng bees, canning and sausage making were also done by all.When there was a death, neighbors got together and got the corpse ready a nd put the corpse in a coffin and they were viewed at home before the comi ng of the funeral homes. The graves were dug by neighbors and friends.For recreation there were always a few that could play a piano or a violi n. They played at square dances and at weddings. They danced in the hou se and sometimes on the thresh floor in the barn.This way of doing everything together was brought over from Europe when th ey migrated to this country and continued for 300 years until the adve nt of modern machining When everybody became independent.Those days everybody knew everybody for miles around. At that time they e ither walked or took a horse and rig. Now people don't even know their ne xt door neighbor.When my brother, Harold, and I took over the farm in 1935, we farmed the s ame way as always. Gradually farming methods changed drastically over t he years. Barn cleaners came into existence, bulk milk coolers, combine s, electric stoves, oil furnaces, clothes dryers, refrigerators, etc. Th is mad,--it much easier on the farm and in the house. One man could do wh at it took several to do in former generations.Harold married about a year later and went to work for another farmer.In 1975 we sold the farm and moved 2 miles south of Freedom on County Tru nk UU across from the Fox Valley Golf Course, where I learned to play go lf and take it easy. I read quite a bit and write letters to the People 's Forum which is run in the Appleton Post Crescent newspaper.

Conr ad on April 25, 1946, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. He had be en employed by Miller Electric for 34 years retiring in 1984. Quin w as an avid Packer and Brewer fan and enjoyed playing cards and spending ti me with his family. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and t he Freedom VFW Post #7692.Survivors include his wife, Blanche P. HOLD LAST RITES FOR NORBERT VANDENBERG
Kaukauna - Funeral services for Norbert Vandenberg, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Vandenberg, who was accidentally killed in a dynamite explosion Monday afternoon, were held at 9 o'clock Thursday morning from Holy Cross Catholic church. The Rev. P. J. Lochman was in charge of the services and interment was in Holy Cross cemetery. Norbert was born in Freedom and attended school there. Margaret A. Vander Velden, Little Chute, age 77, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 4, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born in Kaukauna on April 12, 1931, to the late Theodore and Catherine (Vanden Heuvel) Vandenberg. Margaret married Marvin J. Vander Velden on September 30, 1950, at Holy Cross Parish.
She was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. Margaret was a past president and currently serving as secretary of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Auxiliary. She loved playing cards with her card club friends, trips to Las Vegas and reading. She was an accomplished cook and baker as well as a huge Cubs fan. In her younger years, she also enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time at their trailer in Green Bay. Margaret cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren and attended every sporting and school event she was able to. She was a very special person who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 58 years, Marvin; five children: Dave (Joann), Kaukauna; Sue (Jeff) Maes, Kaukauna; Karen (Joseph) Portman, Little Chute; Jim (Barb), Kaukauna; and Jeff (Dana), Harrison; daughter-in-law, Mary Stewart; 15 grandchildren: Heather, Tandi, Lan, Val, Nick, Ryan, Travis, Amanda, Miranda, Megan, Michelle, Leah, Tracey, Katie and Tanner; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Bob) Weyenberg; sisters and brothers-in-law: Renata Vandenberg, Dennis (Gail) Vander Velden, Dean Walker and Joyce (Al) Dieda. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Michael and infant son, Paul; father- and mother-in-law, George and Agnes Vander Velden; and many brothers, sisters and in-laws.

Mary Catherine Weyenberg, age 79 of Town of Menasha, passed away while surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. She was born on February 10, 1937, the youngest of 13 children, to the late Theodore and Catherine (Vanden Heuvel) Vandenberg. Mary attended Holy Cross School, and was a 1956 graduate of Kaukauna High School.
Mary's only goal in life was to be a wife and mother. Her dream came true when she met and married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Weyenberg. They married in 1958 and spent 58 years together. Mary gave birth to six wonderful children. She was a full-time mom and grandmother.
The American Legion became a part of Mary and Bob's life. They made many friends throughout the state. Mary's greatest times were traveling with the caravan to national conventions. She attended 30, including Hawaii, California and Nevada. She was a member of Auxiliary Unit 38 of Appleton. She also was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Menasha. Mary was also a devoted Packer Fan, Wisconsin Badger fan and Chicago Cubs fan.
Mary is survived by her husband, Bob Weyenberg; children: Tim Weyenberg of Menasha, Lynn (special friend, Jay Smith) Klapps of Menasha, Gary (Debbie) Weyenberg of Dale, WI, Dan (Fiance, Annette) of Kimberly, Scott (Staci) Weyenberg of Kaukauna, Kelly (Patrick) Steffen of Kaukauna; she was blessed with seven grandchildren and survived by six: Matthew, Shane, Kayla, Justin, Delaney and Luke; great grandson: Seth; sisters-in-law: Betty Vandenberg and Janice DeKleyn; she is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mary was preceded in death by her 12 brothers and sisters and their spouses; granddaughter: Miranda Mae; parents-in-law: Clarence and Alma Weyenberg.
The memorial mass for Mary will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH (528 Second St., Menasha) with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name.
The family would like to thank Heartland Home Health Care for the care given to Mary.

An article in the Appleton Evening Cresce nt on April 17, 1908 was written as follows: "Little Chute has rival of Mr. Mead. Harry Schommer can write, draw and print with either hand. Olin Meade registrar at Lawrence University and official government weather obse rver at the Underwood Observatory is not the only star in the bright galaxy of right and left handed genius.
Harry Schommer, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Schommer of the Village of Little Chute can write, draw or print with either the left or the right hand with equal facitity and with both hands at the same time as well. He can write the same word with his left as with his right hand at the same time, and one can notice no difference in the chirography.
Young Schommer can also draw two pictures alike or different, at the same time, and use a pai nt brush in the same way. His accomplishment is t he more remarkable when it is known that up to two years ago he could not write with his right, having been left handed from childhood until his thriteenth year when he entered the State Graded School in Little Chut e.
