    Schlimm, Mary Elizabe thMary E. "nee Appleton" Schlimm, 91, of rural Seymour, passed away Friday m orning, July 14, 2006. Her death occurred at the rural Appleton home of h er daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Jim Kieffer. Mary was surrounded by t hree generations of her family. Mary was born February 20, 1915, the daugh ter of the late Frank and Anna (Nienhaus) Appleton. She graduated from Fre edom High School and was a member of the first graduating class of the n ew school. She attended Oshkosh Normal School and graduated from Outagam ie County Normal School. Mary taught at the Elm Hill School, a one room sc hool, for several years. On August 24, 1938, Mary was united in marriage w ith Clarence H. Schlimm of Greenville, WI. The festive celebration was he ld under tents at the farm homesteaded by her parents, Frank and Anna Appl eton. After marriage, they farmed briefly in Greenville, moved to Applet on for a short time, then to the home farm in Oneida. Upon retirement of F rank and Anna in 1949, Mary and Clarence, with their children, farmed unt il their retirement in 1977. They celebrated 64 years of marriage togethe r. Clarence preceded her in death January of 2003. Mary was a spirited, in telligent woman, who faced joys and sorrows with faith in her God, hard-wo rk ethic and undaunted energy. She managed home and hearth while living wi th a lifetime of severe hearing loss. She and Clarence and their family fa ced many medical challenges. She loved vacationing at Lac du Lune, at La nd O'Lakes, Wis. The lodge there provided the perfect setting for the crea tion of wonderful memories through the decades, as the extended family int eracted in that lovely spot, which had been obtained by her father in t he 1930's. She inherited her father's storytelling skills, loved poetry, c ards, the Packers, Homemaker's Group and bowling. Mary was a long-time mem ber of St. Nicholas Congregation and visited parish shut-ins. She cherish ed her family, friends and neighbors. We loved her and miss her.Mary is survived by, her children, Professor Emerita Dorothy Schlimm-Sa nd (John Sand), Cambridge,Wis.; Mary Ann "Jo" Schlimm, Seymour; Nancy Carl son, Iron Mountain, Mich.; Fran (Jim) Kieffer, Appleton; Robert (Cindy) Sc hlimm, Seymour; grandchildren, Cristian (Misty) Carlson, Bullhead, Ariz .; Marisa Carlson, St. Paul, Minn.; Dr. Nicole Kieffer (Dr. Claudius Mah r) Evanston, Ill.; Margo and Lesley Kieffer, Appleton; Thomas, Daniel a nd Anna Schlimm, Seymour; and her great-grandchild, Dominuque Harris Carls on, Iron Mountain, Mich. She is further survived by, her brother, Robert A ppleton, De Pere, Wis.; her sisters-in-law, Alice (Leighton) Larson, Kimbe rly; and Catherine Schlimm, Greenville. Mary is also survived by, many nie ces and nephews, all of whom she greatly enjoyed throughout her lifetimShe was preceded in death by, her parents; her husband, Clarence; her brot her, Orville Appleton; her father-in-law, Harry Schlimm; her mother-in-la w, Helen (Hopfensperger) Schlimm; her sisters-in-law, June Appleton, Ire ne Appleton, Kay Appleton, Viola Schlimm, Sr. Melita Schlimm; and a brothe r-in-law Clement Schlimm.The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11a.m. on Tuesday, July 1 8, 2006, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, N4008 Cty. Rd. E, Freedom, wi th Father John Schuetze and Father Jim Hablewitz concelebrating. There wi ll be no public visitation prior to the Mass, per Mary's wishes. Interme nt will be in the parish cemetery. The Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymo ur, is assisting the family.In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, a memorial has been e stablished in Mary's name.Online condolences may be expressed at www.boettcher funeralhomes.com.

    Nancy L. (Schlimm) Carlson, age 64, passed away on Monday morning, July 27, 2009. Her death, attended by her family, occurred at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, WI. Nancy was born November 18, 1944, daughter of Clarence and Mary (Appleton) Schlimm. She was a graduate of St. Nicholas Elementary School and Freedom High School, Freedom, WI, also, having graduated from Green Bay College of Cosmetology and was employed in Wisconsin and Michigan salons. In later years, Nancy operated The Hollywood Supper Club in Florence, WI, and later employed at Pine Mountain Resort Restaurant and CJ Graphics in Kingsford, MI.
    Nancy was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph parish in Iron Mountain. She proudly and lovingly raised her granddaughter Dominique Berniqua Harris. Dominique is a student at Bishop Baraga Catholic School in Iron Mountain. Dominique describes "My Nana" as "the best in the world". They cared for each other for ten years. Nancy remains in our collective memory for her strong work ethic, her laugh and the grin we teased her about. She was a spirited sports fan and appreciative of family vacations at Lac du Lune. We love her and we miss her.
    Nancy is survived by her children: Cristian (Misty) Carlson, Bull Head City, AZ; Marisa Carlson, St. Paul, MN; and granddaughter, Dominique Harris. She is further survived by her siblings: Dorothy Schlimm Sand (John Sand), Cambridge, WI; Mary Ann Schlimm, Freedom, WI; Fran (Jim) Kieffer, Appleton, WI; Robert (Cindy) Schlimm, Seymour, WI; her godchildren, Brandon Carlson, Fountain Hills, AZ; Thomas Schlimm, Seymour, WI; and Cyndi Trevethan, Appleton, WI. Additional survivors include nieces and nephews: Dr. Nicole Kieffer (Dr. Claudius Mahr), Evanston, IL; Margo Kieffer, Appleton, WI; Lesley Kieffer, Chicago, IL; Tom, Dan and Anna Schlimm, Seymour, WI; Nicole (Mike) Lutz, Iron Mountain, MI. In addition Nancy enjoyed her numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends throughout her lifetime.
    Friends may call at St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish, 411 West B Street, Iron Mountain, on Friday, July 31, 2009, from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon with Father Daniel Zaloga officiating. Interment will be at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Freedom, WI on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 1 p.m. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, WI, is assisting the family with arrangements 920-833-2328.
