    Obituary:
Jerome Stoeger, age 87, passed away April 1, 2013. He was born January 22, 1926, to the late Fred and Vera (Johnson) Stoeger. He was a WWII Navy veteran serving on the USS Santa Monica as a hospital corpsman. During his down time aboard ship, he honed his card playing skills (especially Pinochle) and passed that love on to his children.
Joe was a graduate of Superior Sign School in Chicago and worked for over 30 years in the sign painting business. He also worked for St. Elizabeth Hospital, Xavier, and ACES before retiring.
In his earlier years, Joe loved fishing. Any kid willing to rise at 4:30 a.m. experienced the joy of fishing with dad in the row boat on Little Lake Butte des Morts.
Joe had a great sense of humor and loved playing pranks on his brothers and sisters and getting pranked by them. Nearly every April Fools' Day his kids played the same telephone prank on him and he fell for it every time - or so they thought!
While Joe was a sign painter by trade, gardening was his passion. He was an avid gardener his entire life. Joe grew thousands of plants each year (from seed). He sold plants from his self-designed, hand-built, backyard greenhouse. That's where you could find his variety of vegetables, fruits ("famous" tomatoes), and multitude of flowers including snap dragons, pansies, impatiens, and petunias (his favorite being the purple wave petunia).
Jerome is survived by Susan Locke, Appleton; his children: Judy Blaesing, New Lisbon; Rick (Bonnie) Stoeger, Janet (Todd) Hermsen, Kathy (Jim) Byrne , all of Appleton; Linda (Jeff) Rupp, Coppell, TX; Jeff (Denise) Stoeger, Hamilton, MT; and Carla (Doug) Dusso, Aurora, CO; their mother, Gwen Stoeger, Appleton; his grandchildren: Sean and Josh Stoeger, Jessie (Tom) Mager, Brian, Katie, and Adam Hermsen, Kevin (Jennifer) and Sarah Brunette, Nick Rupp, Chase and Zach Stoeger, Ashlee (Eric) Burke, and Andrew and Stephanie Dusso; his great grandchildren: Scott Mager, Claire Schultz, and Ava Brunette. Jerome is further survived by a brother, Fred; three sisters, Marion (Bob) Maas, Joan (Dick) Schmidt, and Mary Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Alice Vercauteren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jimmy and Herbert (Ruth); a sister: Mildred (Fran) Klein; sisters-in-law: Doris Stoeger and Lorraine Sammons; a brother-in-law: Gene Vercauteren; and one granddaughter, Jenny Stoeger. Also his pets: Lassie, Pinky, and Cutie Pie.
Per Jerome's wishes there will be no service. A private family memorial will take place at a later date
Since he couldn't pronounce the complete word "Grandpa," grandson Kevin dubbed him "Pa" and it stuck forever. Also sharing a close bond with "Pa," granddaughter Sarah knows she will always be "his little doll."

    I am…
    I am here
    I am there
    I am everywhere around you
In the sunshine that warms you
In the wind that blows around you
In the rain that washes away your pain
In the rainbow that says everything's okay
    I am here
    I am now
    I am forever
Keep me in your soul as I do you
A loving hug, a thoughtful gesture
My world is not your world now, but the love doesn't die
It changes its form before our eyes
Soon we will be for all eternity
I am in you, you are in me.
