    Obituary:
    Russell J. De La Hunt, Kaukauna, age 86, died Thursday June 6, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Stockbridge on January 8, 1927 to the late John and Vivian (Parsons) De La Hunt. Russell served in the Navy from 1944-1947. He married Marion Reichel on February 6, 1951 at St. Mary's Parish in Kaukauna, where he was a lifetime member. Russell was on the renovation committee for the church and served as an acolyte for funerals. He also served on the St. Mary's Cemetery Committee and was a Parish council member. He worked at Gustman's as a mechanic until he started at Thilmany's Pulp and Paper Mill, working on turbines and retiring as a supervisor in the boiler room after 40 years.
    Russell was a master craftsman who enjoyed remodeling. He lovingly helped his children with their household projects. Many of his other works can be seen at St. Mary's Church or at The Environmental Center. He enjoyed golfing, tending to his flowers and feeding the birds. He was also a John Deere enthusiast and loved old tractors. Russell was a long time member of the Kaukauna Fire and Police Commission and the Outagamie County Housing Authority. Of his 25 years of service on the Outagamie County Board, Russell spent 4 as County Board Chairman. During his tenure he was very active in the Outagamie County Regional Airport and its development. He was instrumental in the acquisition of the land for the current Outagamie County Landfill. Russell was appointed by the Mayor and City Council to serve on the 1000 Islands Environmental Center Conservancy Committee. He was an active volunteer at The Center and served as the Chairman for multiple terms.
    Russell is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marion; children: Vivian (Michael) Flanagan, Wrightstown; Michael (Judy), Appleton; Sue (Tom) Merckx, Oshkosh; Tom (Todd West), Appleton; Jane (Kurt) Coenen, Appleton; Mary (Joe) Vander Wyst, Kaukauna; David, Kaukauna, and Leah (Joe McEwen) De La Hunt, Kimberly; grandchildren: Eric Roycraft, Alicia (Cory) Kaisler, Garret Flanagan, Alyssa (Trevor) Gutzdorf, Natasha and Kyle De La Hunt, Hanna Merckx, Alex and Emma Coenen, Maxwell and Riley Vander Wyst, Jordan and Molly De La Hunt; great grandchildren: Gavin, Aidan, Madeline, Elliot, Sophia and Evelyn; sister and brother-in-law Sylvia and Matt Moehn; and sisters-in-law: Elaine Juno and Roma Cole. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    In addition to his parents and his wife's parents, Russell was preceded in death by his infant daughter Mary; his brother: Duane; sister-in-laws Betty De La Hunt and Ardyth School and brothers-in-law: Louis School and Vic Juno.
    Visitation will be held Wednesday June 12, 2013 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH - ST. MARY CHURCH (119 W. 7th St. Kaukauna) beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 4:00 p.m. The Rev. Jerry Pastors will officiate. Military rites conducted by the William Verhagen American Legion Post 60 will immediately follow. Committal St. Mary's Cemetery.     Russell's family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at St. Elizabeth, 2 South and the staff at St. Paul Home for their excellent care. Also, a special thank you to his caregivers Brenda Leon and Russ Schultz who loved and cared for him as their own.
