    I believe "James R. Curtin was Hanora Curtin (Coakley, Davis)s' father. She named her son, James Raymond Coakley, so I think the middle initial 'S' is a mystery that we need to clear.
    Hanora Curtin (b. August 2, 1859 in Hollandtown, Wisconsin) married William Coakley in 1883; William Coakley died in 1904; Hanorah remarried to Edward Davis in November, 1907). My dad was born in August, 1908. The family moved from Duluth, Minnesota between 1914 and 1920. Hanora (Norah) Davis is listed as widowed in the 1920 census of Oregon.
    I have information about who I 'believe' was my grandfather "Edward Davis", but it involves a 'secret' marriage (he was a member of the Freemasons and the Masons). He appears living with Norah at four addresses (boarding houses) between 1908 and 1914. He is listed two times in the Duluth Minnesota City Directory with middle initial 'D'. His occupation is listed as 'cruiser' in the directory and 'lumber scaler' on my dad's birth record.
    I researched this for several years and discovered an Edward D. Davis born in 1860. Reverend Marion Daniel Shutter wrote a bibliographical page about his life in "Minneapolis, Gateway to the Northwest" , 'deluxe supplement' , published in 1923. This "Edward D. Davis' had a wife named Jenny. For a long time I discounted this man as a possibility in my search, but he kept appearing at the top of my research.
    I finally found a 'photo' that matched with the sketch in the biography. It was taken in 1907 in Duluth, Minnesota. Edward D. Davis died in 1917 of diabetes.
    My Uncle James R. Coakley b, 1886 was a switchman for the D.M. & N Railroad. I think he is in the photo with my grandfather standing in front of a locomotive.I hope you find this interesting. I certainly did! Lois
