    Baumann, Nicholas J., 484 Hi ghland Park Avenue, AppletonAge 84, was called to Christ Tuesday afternoon, December 16, 2003, while v acationing in San Diego, California, due to complications of cancer, wi th his family at his side. He was born December 20, 1918, to the late Hen ry O. and Elizabeth (Lawall) Baumann, in Appleton, where he was a reside nt all of his life. Nick married Jean Beattie in Scotland, July 20, 194 4, while serving in the U. S. Army as a Master Sergeant. He worked f or 44 years for Valley Iron Works/Voith Sulzer, until his retirement in 19 81. He enjoyed fishing and hunting at his cottage in Mountain, WI and h is many trips to Scotland and California. He was a member of St. Thomas Mo re Catholic Church, Oney Johnston-Edward Blessman American Legion Post # 38 and the Appleton Elks Lodge.Survivors include his wife Jean; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty a nd Lee West, Appleton; Terri and Ron Pike, Winneconne; Franki and Rick Rom enesko, Appleton; seven grandchildren, John (Leah) West and Bunty (Chri s) Cross, San Diego; Karen (Dan) Marquardt, Neenah; Kim (Bart) Seidler, Gr eenville; Dr. Richard Romenesko, Jr., Madison; Michael and Nicholas Romene sko, Milwaukee; eight great grandchildren, Sheena and Kirsti Cros s, J. T. and Gavin West, San Diego; Morgan and Mason Marquardt, Neenah; a nd Jakob and Mari Seidler, Greenville. He is further survived by three bro thers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Eileen Baumann, Appleton; Raymond and V irginia Baumann, Appleton; Henry and Clara Baumann, Appleton; three sister s, Blanche Strelka, Kimberly; Marie Bushman, Appleton; Elizabeth (Russ) Bu rns, Appleton; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Baumann, Marion Baumann, Ina DeCle ene; brother-in-law, Emmett Decker and Maxwell (Elaine) Beattie. He was pr eceded in death by his infant sister, Marie Therese and infant brother, Ge orge, a sister Gertrude Decker, brothers, Joe, Clem and Claire. He was al so preceded by his mother and father-in-law, Jean and Gavin Morrison, brot hers-in-law, Gene Bushman, Eugene Weyers, Bert Byatt, Vince DeCleene, Rich ard Strelka and sisters-in-law, Leona Baumann and Nancy Byatt.The funeral liturgy for Nicholas will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, Decem ber 20, 2003, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Stre et, with Father Gerald R. Falk officiating. Entombment will be in Applet on Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Saturday fr om 9:00 am until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fu nd is being established for the American Cancer Society.He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. A special th ank you to Father Gerald R. Falk, Dr. Anthony Phillips and the nurses of t he Martha Siekman Cancer Center, and to Dr. Karl Greene, Neuro Spine Cente r, for giving him extra time with those he loved.
