CHASTEEN, Robert Franklin, age 80, of New Paris, OH, passed away at the Dayton VA Medical Center on Friday, January 18, 2008. Born in Richmond, IN on October 16, 1927, to the late William & Bessie (Pennington) Chasteen. A veteran of WW II serving in the European Theater with the US Navy on board the USS Belet and the USS Hopping. Robert began his career at Wright Patterson Air Force Base where he retired after 30 years as an Aviation Electronic Specialist. He was a lifetime Member of the VFW, DAV & American Legion; a member of the NRA; former member of the Civil Air Patrol and REACT, enjoyed jewelry making and traveling the country with his wife. Survived by wife Erma R. (Fox) Chasteen whom he married May 1, 1967: sons James Chasteen & wife Patty of Pewaukee, WI and William Chasteen & wife Katharine of New Paris, OH; daughters Mary Brown & husband James of Heidelberg, Germany; Susan Boedeker & husband Mike of IA; Ruth Corning & husband Paul of New Holstein, WI; Nora Egan & husband Lester of WI; Pamela Milhollin & husband Brad of Parker City, IN; and Sharon Baughman of WV; sisters Winifred Joiner of Richmond, IN and Patricia Trocano of Union City, OH; brother Lawrence Rheinhardt of Richamond, IN; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 11 AM at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Alexandria.
