    Mabel A. Schroeder, age 104, formerly of Greenville, joined her Heavenly Father, on March 6, 2009. She was born on October 22, 1904, in Appleton, daughter of Julius and Alvina (Patitz) Seifert. On September 8, 1925, Mabel was married to Elmer H. Schroeder. Mabel was a lifelong and faithful member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Greenville, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid.
    Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Harland and MarJean Schroeder, Greenville; two grandchildren: Karen (Joe) Berken, Combined Locks; and Rick (Becky) Schroeder, Fond du Lac; eight great-grandchildren: Josh (Jen) Berken, Waukesha; Heather (Mike) Geer, Appleton; Nick (fiancee Jen Grohall) Berken, Appleton; Stephanie Berken, Combined Locks; and Ryan, Nicole, Jared, and Eric Schroeder, all of Fond du Lac; two great-great-granddaughters: Finley Berken and Ava Geer and future great-great-granddaughter, Arianna Juarez; a brother, John (Phyllis) Seifert. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
    Besides her parents and husband Elmer, Mabel is preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby; six sisters: Hilda Tellock, Laura Palmbach, Esther Lueck, Viola Borchardt, Alice Kaphingst, and Norma Seifert; and three brothers: Wilmer, Reuben and Arno Seifert.
    Funeral Services for Mabel will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Greenville, with the Rev. Joel Heckendorf officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 12 Noon until the time of service.
    A memorial fund in Mabel's name is being established.
    The family would like to extend their appreciation and thankfulness to Peabody Manor, ThedaCare Hospice, Appleton Medical Center-4 south and Dr.'s Turk, Swanson and Wycoff for all their wonderful assistance in caring for Mabel.

    Arno O. Seifert, age 95, of Appleton, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at Appleton Medical Center. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and friends. Arno was born September 16, 1912, in the Town of Greenville, WI, to Julius and Alvina (Patitz) Seifert. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1929. He began his long-time career with the First National Bank of Appleton in September 1929. In the following years, he completed several banking courses offered through the Appleton Vocational School and later acted as instructor for banking courses offered by this school. In 1949, he graduated from a course offered by the Central States School of Banking through the University of Wisconsin-Madison. At the time of his retirement from banking in October 1974, he was Vice President in Charge of Loans His career was interrupted by service in the military during WWII. He served from September 1942 until May 1946, during which time he was assigned patrol duties in the Caribbean and North Atlantic areas. Following his discharge from the service, he was joined in marriage on October 26, 1946, to Muriel E. Anderson, daughter of Milo and Lula Anderson, at Grace Lutheran Church, Winchester, WI.
    Arno enjoyed sports, particularly hunting and fishing, but he also entered several annual handball tournaments sponsored by the Appleton YMCA. In his early years, his hobbies included gardening - he was especially very interested in experimenting with grafting of fruit trees. He established and operated a fruit orchard on his parents' property in the Town of Greenville. He later purchased a farm in Waupaca County where he raised and marketed Christmas trees under the name Seifert Tree Farm, an enterprise the family intends to continue under the name Seifert Family Tree Farm. Since 1954, Arno enjoyed the family vacations and holidays in the Sand Bay area of Door County. After his retirement, Arno and Muriel enjoyed traveling and they took many trips both within the United States and to many other destinations, including Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Canada.
    Arno was active in civic and religious activities in the Appleton area. He was a charter member of the Appleton McDowell Male Chorus, and was a member of the Appleton Kiwanis Club for more than 50 years. He served on the Board of Directors of the Gordon Bubolz Nature Preserve for many years. He also volunteered or served on the boards of his church and other nonprofit organizations in the Fox River Valley.
    Arno is survived by his daughter, Kristi Seifert (Peter Berryman), Madison, WI; son, Stephen (Kathi), Appleton, WI; daughter, Jean (Stephan) Weeks, Santa Barbara, CA; daughter, Lynn (Lawrence) Stranghoener, Plymouth, MN; and daughter Laurel (Todd) Wichman, St. Paul, MN; as well as ten loving grandchildren: Erin (Luke) Tyson and Andrew Seifert; Erik (Rae), Mark, and Daniel Weeks; Erika, Rachel, and David Stranghoener; and Karl and Marta Wichman; and two great-grandchildren: Eric and Hannah Tyson. He is also survived by his brother, John (Phyllis) Seifert, and sister, Mabel (Elmer) Schroeder, and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by Muriel, his wife of 55 years; his parents Julius and Alvina; six sisters: Laura (George) Palmbach, Ester (William) Lueck, Viola (Arthur) Borchert, Hilda (Erwin) Tellock, Alice (Emil) Kaphingst, and Norma; and two brothers: Wilmer (Mabel) and Rueben.
    Funeral services will be Saturday, December 29, 2007, at 11 a.m. at PRINCE OF PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2330 E. Calumet St., Appleton, with Rev. Gary Nokleberg officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Friday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and directly at the church on Saturday, December 29, 2007, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or the Gordon Bubolz Nature Preserve, 4815 N. Lynndale Dr., Appleton, WI 54913.

    Appleton - John Carl Seifert, 98, of Appleton, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Rennes Health and Rehab. The memorial service for John will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 E. Glendale Ave., with Rev. Aaron Rosenau officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. A full obituary will appear on May 6, 2018.

    Appleton - John Carl Seifert, 98, of Appleton, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Rennes Health and Rehab. John was born on May 11, 1919 to Julius and Alvina (Patitz) Seifert in Greenville. He was a veteran and served in the US Army, attending OCS and serving as a 2nd Lieutenant. On May 26, 1945 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Hanson in Hortonville. John worked as a personnel director at VA Hospitals in Battle Creek and Iron Mountain Michigan, Fargo, North Dakota, Danville, Illinois and retiring from the VA Hospital in Minneapolis. He enjoyed printing and had an old letter press and printed many wedding invitations and napkins over the years for friends and family. John was also a skilled woodworker and was always giving his projects away. He liked fishing and the summer trips up north and Door County will always be treasured. John was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and his faith was always first in his life.
    John is survived by his wife of 72 years, Phyllis, three children; Jim (Judy) Seifert, Dave (Jean) Seifert, Sue (Randy) Hanson, 8 grandchildren; Brian (Laura) Seifert, Tom Seifert, Christy (Matt) Walthius, Laura (Chris) Kelly, John Seifert, Amy (Adam) Hass, Katie (Colin) Millsom, and Kim (Matt) Bayliss, 11 great grandchildren; Emma, John, Molly, Aiden, Claire, Nathan, Evan, Kaelie, Cayden, Sebastian, and Elizabeth, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, and ten older siblings.
    The memorial service for John will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 E. Glendale Ave., with Rev. Aaron Rosenau officiating.     Fred Karl Kaphingst, Greenville, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Christmas morning, at his home. Fred was born in Appleton, on February 17, 1937, son of the late F. Emil and Alice (Seifert) Kaphingst. On October 20, 1956, he married Barbara Thorson at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Greenville, where Fred has been a lifelong and faithful member. He was also a lifelong Greenville resident and was a member of the Greenville Civic Club and the Greenville Lions Club. He and Barb also enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Minocqua, Wisconsin.
    On Christmas Eve, Fred and Barb celebrated with all of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years: Barb Kaphingst, Greenville; three children: Dave (Karen) Kaphingst, Neenah; Sue (Jim) Hoier, Hortonville; and Tom (Judy) Kaphingst, Shiocton; seven grandchildren: Angela (Collin) Kaas, Minneapolis; Katie (Curt) Becker, Winchester; Eric "Bud" Kaphingst, Minneapolis; Carrie (Chris) Roberts, Greenville; Michelle Young, West Allis; Amanda Kaphingst, Shiocton; and Alan Kaphingst, Shiocton; two step-grandchildren: Nicole Schwantes and Joe Hoier of Nichols; three great-grandchildren: Ella, Cavin, and Tyson; a step-great-grandchild: Addilyn; a brother-in-law: Waldemar Thorson; three nephews: Gary Kaphingst and his family, Todd Thorson and his family, and Tim Thorson and his family, as well as many other relatives and friends.
    Fred was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harold (Delores) Kaphingst, a sister-in-law Nola Thorson, and a son-in-law Marty Young.
    The Christian Funeral for Fred will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2007, at IMMANUEL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, on the corner of School and Julius Roads in Greenville with Rev. David Scharf officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday (TONIGHT) from 4 p.m. until 8 a.m. and again Friday morning at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

    Thomas A. Kaphingst, age 55, of Shiocton, passed away at Brewster Village, Appleton, on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. Tom was born on April 30, 1961, in Appleton to Barbara (Thorson) Kaphingst and the late Fred Kaphingst. He was employed as an electrician at Faith Technologies for over 20 years.
    Survivors include his children, Amanda Kaphingst and Alan Kaphingst; his former wife, Judy Kaphingst; his mother, Barbara Kaphingst; his brother, Dave (Karen) Kaphingst; and his sister, Sue (Jim) Hoier. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, W7265 School Road, Greenville, with Pastor John Qualmann officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N.
