Herman, Ruth J.
Ruth J. Herman, 86, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at an area nursing home. She was born April 4, 1922, in Riverside, California, to the late Leonard and Kathryn (Buechler) Rougeau. Ruth was a 1940 graduate of Wrightstown High School, where she was Prom Queen. The same year she married Rawlin (Bud) Herman; he preceded her in death Jan. 27, 1979. Together, Ruth and Bud were blessed with four children, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Ruth has been an interior decorator all her life. She began working at Berger Boats in Manitowoc doing luxury boats and yachts, then with the Manchester Department Store in Madison in the furniture and decorating department. She also managed Cameo Interiors while still in Madison. Ruth moved to Appleton and worked for Ken Webber Interiors until retirement. Despite this busy life, Ruth loved to cook and found time to care for her flower gardens. She was also known for her great love of animals.
Survivors include her children: Sandy Herlache, New Orleans, LA; Gary (Linda) Herman, Green Bay; Chuck Herman (fiancee, Tina Langkau), Appleton; Steve (Robin) Herman, DeForest; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters and brother: Shirlee Stratton, Paradise, CA; Wesley "Hook" (Dolly) Rougeau, Indianapolis, IN; Lynette Konopacki, Neshkoro, WI.
In addition to her husband, "Bud," and infant daughter, Cheryl Lynn, she was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Kathryn.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. Funeral Service 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown. Online condolences may be sent to the Herman family at www.prokowall.com.
