    Oliver P Mennen, 93 of De Pere passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016. He was born in West De Pere on December 3, 1922 to the late William and Louise (Aerts) Mennen. On November 29, 1947 he married Arlene Ruth Ziesemer. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2011. He graduated from Nicolet High School in West De Pere and also attended University Farm Short Course Program.
    Oliver served in the US Army, Black Hawk Division from 1943 to 1946. He dairy farmed for 43 years on Creamery Rd in De Pere and was a member of National Farmers Organization (NFO). He enjoyed the outdoors, attending auctions, NFO meetings and spending time with friends and family. In 1975 he was baptized and dedicated himself as one of Jehovah's Witnesses to teach the Good News of the Kingdom of God to all the inhabited earth (Mat 24:14)
    Arlene and Oliver had seven children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Arlene, his daughter Barbara, and his brothers Carl, Harold and Raymond.

    Aerts, Marvin H.Who would have ever thought when we woke up early Thursday morning we 'd be saying our final goodbyes early Friday morning? But that's how so me things go I guess. There's never a good time to be beckoned home - but w hen you're called, it's time to go.Marvin H. Aerts was called home Friday, March 17, 2006, at the age of 8 6. He was born April 8, 1919, in Stiles Junction, to Louis and Nancy (Prie s) Aerts. He was the oldest of 10 children. On Jan. 17, 1942, Marvin marri ed the love of his life, Fern Ives. They exchanged wedding vows in Green B ay and set sail on a life together. At the age of 24, Marvin left to ser ve his country in World War II. In the next few years their love produc ed four children, Janice, Homer, Joan and Jim, all of whom are alive and w ell today. Following the Navy, the Aerts put down roots in Green Bay, wi th Marvin working the next 32 years at nearby Northwest Engineering. He re tired in 1980 and was planning on taking his bride and leaving snowy Wisco nsin behind by spending more time in Arizona. Those plans changed sudden ly when Fern, our grandmother, was called home on Dec. 6, 1982. As we a ll know there's no good time to go home, as I know she would have given a ll her slot-machine winnings in the world to watch her grandchildren gr ow up with her. But she's had her eye on the 13 of us for the past 24 yea rs and I don't think she'll be stopping anytime soon. After Fern died, Mar vin's handsome looks didn't keep him on the market for long as he marri ed Chesterine Pranica the following October. They have been married ever s ince.
    As my brother and I (Stephen) were driving up to Oconto Falls Thursday nig ht to say our last goodbyes, my brother, Pat, was reminiscing about the ti mes when he and our sister, Kristi, would drive with Grandma from their la st home in Little Suamico down to Green Bay to pick up Grandpa from wor k. The three of us spent many summers at Grandpa's and Grandma's house. Be ing from Milwaukee and not seeing all of our cousins that often, summers a nd holidays meant one thing - Little Suamico, playing with our cousins a nd Grandma and "Gramps," as Mike used to call him. On the drive up we reme mbered driving with Grandma in her big old Oldsmobile Delta 88 down count ry roads looking for frogs by the bay, or they would take all of us grandk ids over to Nelson's to play pinball so we could try and win a 6-pack of 7 -Up. It's too bad Daniel doesn't have many memories of playing with Grand ma and Gramps as he was too young. The same thing for our cousins Rober t, Rodney, Ronald, Kim or Steven as they lived in California and just didn 't see them as much as the three of us, along with Pat, Jerry, Mike, Tyrel le and Daniel. Those were some good times, but I get the feeling that Gran dma had enough of this waiting around and was ready to head back to Arizo na to continue the journey they started 24 years ago.
    So early Friday morning as he was surrounded by his loved ones, I think Gr andma, with Tyrelle and John in the backseat, were there to pick up Grand pa one last time. I just hope they save room in the car for the re st of us ... I'm sure they will.
    Survivors include his wife, Chesterine; his children and their spouses, Ja nice (Neil) Staedler, Homer Aerts, Joan (Tom) Garrity, Jim Aerts and his f iancee, Sandy; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-g randchild; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Reuben (Edith) Aerts, Earl (Je an Ann) Aerts; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace (Norb) Desotell, E va (Jim) Schumerth, Nancy (Jim) Seyler; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Aert s, Jeanne Aerts. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Candy Aerts-Dun kerley; an uncle and aunt, Walter (Edith) Pries.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Fern; two grandch ildren, John Aerts, Tyrelle Woodworth; three brothers and one sister, Adri an Aerts, Victor Aerts, Maxine Aerts and Ken Aerts.

    Earl E. "Shorty" Aerts, 85, Allouez, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1921, in De Pere, son of the late Louis and Nancy (Pries) Aerts. Earl served in the United States Coast Guard from 1943 to 1946, stationed on the USS Mosely, a Destroyer Escort. While in the Coast Guard Earl earned Area Campaign Medals as well as Operation Engagement Stars for his service to his country. He married Jean Ann Jansen on Oct. 8, 1946, in De Pere. He was employed as a Boiler Technician at Nicolet Paper Company for 40 years, retiring in 1986. Earl enjoyed bowling, gardening, small game hunting, and had built the three homes his family lived in. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere.
    Survivors include his wife, Jean Ann, Allouez; four children, Barbara (Jon) Lutgen, Greenleaf; Gary Aerts, Allouez; Margaret Smits, Howard; and Mary Brick, Bellevue; grandchildren, Melissa Aerts and her son, Dakota, Milwaukee; and Natalie Smits, Howard; brother and sisters, Nancy (Jim) Seiler, Eva (Jim) Schumerth, Grace (Norb) Desotel, and Reuben (Edith) Aerts; sisters-in-law Shirley Aerts, Jeannie Aerts, Chesterine Aerts, Catherine Jansen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Reuben J. "Reub" Aerts, age 91, of De Pere, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016. The son of the late Louis and Nancy (Pries) Aerts was born June 11, 1924 in De Pere. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, and married Edith Plouff on August 20, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in De Pere. During his career, Reub was a salesman, the co-owner of Frontier Golf Course, co-owner of De Pere Liquor, and a fireman for the City of De Pere. Reub belonged to the VFW, and enjoyed carpentry, golfing, bowling, walking, buying Seroogy's Candy for Edith, as well as helping his neighbors and family. He was a long-time member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere.

    Nancy Lou (Aerts) Seyler, 78, Village of Howard, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 8, 2016 of natural causes. She was born on March 4, 1938 at home in De Pere to Louis and Nancy (Pries) Aerts.
    Nancy graduated from East De Pere High School, Class of 1956. She received her Associate Degree as a Laboratory Technician in Minnesota. In 1958, Nancy married James Seyler at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere. She was employed as a Lab Technician by St. Vincent Hospital and Prevea, retiring from Prevea Clinics.
    Nancy cherished the time spent with her family. In their younger years, Nancy and Jim loved to travel. She enjoyed playing BINGO. Nancy was a social butterfly, always going out for lunch. She made the best homemade caramels which could not be duplicated and will be missed by many at Christmas time.
    Nancy is survived by her children: Nanette Stupecky, Neenah; Mark Seyler (Janet), California; Lisa (Randy) Deviley, Suamico; Chris Seyler, Howard; her grandchildren, Jordan Stupecky and her fiancé, Jesse Fritsch, Justin Stupecky, Jessica and Holly Seyler, Alex Smith and Jimmy Deviley; two sisters, Grace (Norb) Desotell, and Eva (Jim) Schumerth; two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Aerts and Shirley Aerts; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jackie Seyler, John (Helen) Seyler, Mary Kummers (and her special friend, Bob Detrie), and Carole Seyler; and many nieces and nephews.

    De Pere - Loretta J. (Aerts) Thyssen, 96, De Pere, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 6, 2018. She was born April 21, 1921 to Fred and Frances (Verheyen) Aerts in the Town of Lawrence. She was united in marriage on October 4, 1941 to Raphael "Ray" Thyssen. They started their family in Spokane, Washington, eventually moving to De Pere.
    Loretta was a very creative and gifted seamstress, sewing many wedding dresses, prom and special occasion dresses, and baptismal gowns. She reupholstered furniture and decorated beautiful wedding and celebratory cakes. Loretta enjoyed playing cards, watching the Brewers, Packers and Badgers. Her home was a gathering place where many meals were shared by her children, beloved grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who she treasured her time with more than anything.
    Survivors include her children, Ralph (Annette), Wayne, Joan Anderson, Nancy (Ron) Moureau, Luann (Pete) Thomson, Grace (Greg) Boncher, Mike (Terry), Ellen (fiancé Frank Turriff), and Yvonne (Joe) Schauer; son-in-law Wes Kupsky; grandchildren, Michelle, Craig, Bill, Marty, Andy, Chris, Allan, Jennifer, Maggie, Mollie, Lora, Anna, Jessie, George, Melanie, David, Brian, Ben, Joe, Alyssa, Samantha, Kristina, Brandon, Lauren and Evan; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Loretta is further survived by her sisters, Marge Buresh, Rosemary McVey, Jean McVey, Gerry (Pete) VandenBogart, Pat (John) Geurts; and brother-in-law, Red Beyer.
    Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Raphael "Ray"; parents, Fred and Frances; daughter, Judy Kupsky; son-in-law, Lee Anderson; sisters, Janice Beyer, Ceil Cornelissen, Dorothy (Donald) Matzke, Betty Mae Jones, Alice Vande Hei; brother, Bill (Bernice) Aerts; and brothers-in-law, Joe Buresh, Don McVey, and Bernard McVey. She was further preceded in death by Ray's brothers and sisters.
    Family and friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, 1307 Lourdes Avenue, De Pere, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018.     Dorothy Nell Matzke, 92, De Pere, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday evening February 11, 2017. Dorothy was born in De Pere on April 2, 1924 to the late Fred and Frances (VerHeyen) Aerts.
    She married Donald Matzke in June of 1946, he preceded her in death on December 10, 1988. She and Don were lifelong residents of De Pere. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening but took great pride in making beautiful ceramics. Dorothy enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren excel in their many activities, she was always there to cheer them on.
    Survived by her children: Linda (Russ) Wiese, Greenleaf; Sandy (Tom) Eifler, Green Bay; and Leon (Judy) Matzke, Sturgeon Bay; her grandchildren: Andrea (Don) Socha, Daryl (Sara) Eifler, Brian (Shelly) Wiese, Brett (Rachel) Eifler, Amanda (Jamie) Johnson.
    Dorothy's great grandchildren: Kayla & Ryan Socha, Dalton & Hayden Wiese, Mya & Rylie Eifler, Beckett & Easton Johnson and Taylor Verhagen

    Janice M. "Jan" Beyer, 73 of Appleton passed away on February 4, 2016 at a local hospital. Jan was born on April 15, 1942 to Fred and Frances (Verheyen) Aerts. She was a graduate of West De Pere High School. On January 13, 1996 Jan married Redlin "Red" Beyer and they enjoyed over 20 years together. She was a long time employee of Shopko, working primarily in the Pharmacy. Jan was a very outgoing woman who was filled with love. She loved entertaining friends and family and playing cards. She was an excellent cook and loved baking. She enjoyed decorating her home and cottage and especially loved preparing for Christmas.

    Ralph W. Smet 77, of De Pere passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning April 2, 2014. He was born July 23, 1936 in De Pere to the late Robert and Henrietta (Verboort) Smet. On February 11, 1961 he was united in marriage to Darlein "Dar" Andre at St. Boniface Catholic Church in De Pere. Ralph is a U.S. veteran having served his country in the Marines. In 2001 he retired from Tec Systems. Ralph loved to plan and navigate car trips throughout the country, and has been coast to coast and corner to corner. He also liked woodworking, lawn work, bicycle rides with Dar, card games with his little group of neighbors and his grandchildren's extracurricular activities. Sunday Dinners with the family were very important to Ralph. Ralph was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, and Knights of Columbus Council #3955. He is survived by his wife Dar, their children; Todd (Julie) Smet, Michael (Patricia) Smet, and Patrick (Diane) Smet. Ralph's nine grandchildren, Ashley, Noah, Adam, Zachary, Justin, Nicole, Jennah, Trevor, and Ryan survive, as well as his siblings; Fr. Leroy Smet, Daniel (Karen) Smet, Dorothy (Tom) Scott, Steven (Lynn) Smet, his sister in law Caroline Smet, Dar's family and numerous nieces and nephews all survive him. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Gerald and John.
