    Wilbert L. Lau, of Neenah, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2011. He was born May 1, 1924 in Reedsville, son of the late Theodore and Elsie (Reimer) Lau. Willy married Henriette Flenz on October 16, 1948. She preceded him in death on February 21, 2008.
    Willy served his country in the US Army during WWII, being stationed in the Philippines. He retired from American Can after 40 years of employment. He loved woodworking, making caramel corn and popcorn balls, and especially spending time with his family.
    Willy was an active longtime member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church of Neenah where he served as an usher and as President of the Church Council.
    Survivors include four brothers and sisters: Mernebelle Behnke, Se Vera Lau, Waldemar Lau and Violet (Jerry) Havel; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews, including great nephew, Willy Thomas Brucks.
    He was preceded in death by two brothers: Elroy and Wallace; and two sisters: Evelyn and Alice.
    The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 1390 Breezewood Lane, Neenah, with The Rev. Richard Frost officiating. The visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Full military rites will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for the church.

    Behm, Evelyn C. Evelyn, age 82, of Appleton, was called to her heavenly home on November 12, 2008, after a prolonged illness. She was born May 16, 1926, in the Town of Rockland, daughter of the late Theodore and Elsie (Reimer) Lau. She was a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church, Appleton. Evelyn worked for many years as a waitress and Short Order Cook and also worked in housekeeping at Appleton Medical Center before she retired in 1993. She married the love of her life, Francis A. Behm, October 31, 1943, sharing 50 years together before his death May 5, 1994.
    Evelyn is survived by her three sons: Ken Behm, Appleton; Gene (Barb) Behm, Larsen; Bob (Lari Le) Behm, Appleton; two daughters: Mary (Ken) Welsh, Menasha; Lori (Bob) Frye, Appleton; two brothers: Wilbert Lau, Neenah, Wally Lau, Sherwood; four sisters: Mernie Behnke, Reedsville; Alice (Ray) Hernke, Little Chute; SeVera Lau, Milwaukee; Vi (Jerry) Havel, Appleton; former son-in-law: Rick (Linda) Brennecke, Appleton, 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren three great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by many friends, especially Jeanne Speering and Neil and Kathy Plamann who were always there for Ma.
    She was preceded in death by a daughter: Judy Lynn; a grandson: Travis Lee Schisel; two brothers: Elroy and Wallace; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
    Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2008, at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E. Glendale Ave, with Rev. Daniel Thews officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established.
    The family wishes to thank all the care givers that took care of Evelyn this past year.

    Mernabelle "Mernie" Behnke, age 83, of Waterford WI, formerly of Reedsville, died on Friday, January 6, 2012, at Waterford Sr. Living. She was born on December 12, 1928 in the Town of Brillion, daughter of the late Theodore J. and Elsie (Riemer) Lau. She married Francis Polifka on December 25, 1949. He preceded her in death in 2007. On October 30, 1976, Mernabelle married Lester H. Behnke at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. He preceded her in death in 2002. Mernabelle worked for various businesses in the area for 17 years, including Geiger's Restaurant and the Ariens Co., both in Brillion. She was a member of St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville and the Ladies Aid. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She also enjoyed doing various craft projects. Survivors include her children: Roger (Kathy) Polifka of Bremerton, WA, Rozanne (Timothy) Bird of Burlington, Steve Polifka of Milwaukee, John Polifka of Greeley, CO, Judy Polifka of Chicago, four grandchildren: Traci Polifka, Brian (Anna) Polifka, Laura (Chris) Schoeneck, Nathan Bird, two great grandchildren: Christopher Polifka and Avery Schoeneck, 7 step children: Joanne (Roger) Fischer of Appleton, Dianne (Jerome) Witkowski of Ripon, Suzanne (Ray) Bubolz of Reedsville, Rozanne (Ralph) Bohrtz of Greenleaf, Julianne (Scott) Free of Manitowoc, Luanne (Jeff) Gast of Wisconsin Rapids, Lorianne (Tom) Holdcroft of Greenville, and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, two sisters: SeVera Lau of Milwaukee, Violet (Jerold) Havel of Appleton, a brother; Waldemar Lau of Sherwood, and many other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her husbands, a step grandson Jordan Free, three brothers: Private Elroy Lau, Wallace Lau, Wilbert Lau, and two sisters: Evelyn Behm and Alice Hernke.
    Funeral service will be Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. The Rev. Timothy Nommensen will officiate. Burial will take place in the Westside Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in Mernabelle's name.     Alice Hernke, age 79, of Little Chute, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. She was born on January 16, 1930, in Brillion, daughter of the late Ted and Elsie (Riemer) Lau. On December 15, 1954, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Appleton, Alice was united in marriage to Ray Hernke, they spent 54 years together. Alice loved spending time with her family. She also volunteered with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Bereavement Hospice, Church Groups and sang in the church choir. She loved playing sheepshead with family and friends, as well as doing crafts and knitting.
    Alice is survived by her husband, Ray; five children: Cheryl Fisher, Dona (Ron) Dollevoet, Jerry (Dawn) Hernke, Wendy (John) Lind and Joan (Troy) Tollard, one step-son; Don (Red) Ott, 11 grandchildren: Tami Fisher, Alan Fisher, Daniel Fisher, Jenni Behling, Michelle Pluger, Aaron Dollevoet, Kurt (Nicole) Dollevoet, Tyler Lind, Jason (fiancee Kadee) Lind, Cassandra Hernke and Amber Tollard. She is further survived by eight great-grandchildren: Philip Fisher, Isabella Fisher, Brandon Fisher, Jordan Fisher, Kiersten Fisher, Hannah Behling, Megan Behling and Erin Wallace; five brothers and sisters: Willy Lau, Mernie Behnke, Severa Lau, Wally Lau and Vi (Jerry) Havel; a sister-in-law, Arlene Krueger, two god children: Mary Welsh and Ron Havel as well as many nieces and nephews.
    Alice was preceded in death by a sister; Evie Behm, two brothers: Elroy and Wallace Lau, five brothers and sisters-in-law: Francis Behm, Elwood Lau, Hank Lau, Lester Behnke and Melvin Krueger; a niece, Judy Behm; step-mother, Ina Lau and mother and father-in-law: Lillan Bratz and John Hernke.
    A funeral service for Alice will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2009, at St. James United Methodist Church, 100 W. Capital Drive, Appleton. Entombment will take place in Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Alice's name.
    A special thank you to Dr's Derksen, Douglas, Buchanan, Mortara, Kay Conrad and their staff, Theda Care at Home Hospice Team and especially her sister Vi, Rev. Tim Albrecht and Rev. Mark Klaisner. Through their support and care made our mother's remaining time with us special.

The funeral was held on Sunday at Reedsville.
