    Biography:
JOSEPH E. KOMP, one of Outagamie county's progressive and enterprising young agriculturists, who is devoting his attention to the cultivation of the Komp homestead in Liberty township, was born March 7, 1880, in Washington county, Wisconsin, and is a son of Herman and Katherine (Frieberger) Komp. Herman Komp was a native of the Fatherland, and came to the United States as a young man, moving immediately to Washington county, Wisconsin, where he purchased land. He married Katherine Frieberger, a native of that county, whose parents were natives of Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Komp resided on the Washington county farm until eighteen years ago, when they moved to Outagamie county, and Mr. Komp purchased land in Liberty township. He was actively engaged in the cultivation of this tract until two years ago, when he retired and moved to Stephensville. He and his wife had a family of ten children. Joseph E. Komp received his education in the district schools of Liberty township, and he has always worked on his father's farm, as has his brother, Edward, who was born April 3, 1882. In 1909 these two brothers took charge of the farm, renting it from their father, and they have been very successful in their operations, having a well-equipped and well-cultivated tract. The buildings are in excellent condition, and the land is well graded and neatly fenced. In 1909, Joseph E. Komp was united in marriage with Miss Lauretta Day, the estimable daughter of William and Elizabeth (Holleran) Day of Greenville township, and one child was born to this union: Milo, born September 1, 1910. Mr. and Mrs. Komp are consistent members of the Catholic Church at Stephensville. Mr. Komp is a man who always has the interest of his community at heart, and is willing to lend his support to any movement that promises the advancement of his township in any way.

Born in Stephensvillle, Wisconsin, she graduated from Oshkosh Teachers College and taught world geography for over 20 years at James Madison Junior High School in Appleton.
After retirement, her passion for dance led her to Adagio Dance Studio (TC Dance Club) where she enthusiastically participated in dancing competitions, accumulating awards and making friends with dancers of all ages and walks of life. Her Adagio family truly became an integral part of her life. Tributes coming in from dancer friends around the country demonstrate how many lives she touched and their great love for her. During her 100th Birthday Celebration (September 2013) DeLila gave one of her final performances, dancing a waltz to the music of "This is My Wish for You" with her long time teacher, mentor, friend, and dance partner, Terry Irwin.
DeLila was a member of St Mary's Church, an active participant in the Odd Lots Investment Club, and the Heritage Reading Group until the time of her death. She enjoyed sharing the cottage she and Rolly built on Archibald Lake with her children, grandchildren and their many friends. She was especially pleased she was able to paddle about the lake in her kayak until recently.
DeLila was predeceased by her husband Rolland Nock, her sister Bernice Grey and her brother Harold Komp. She is survived by her daughters: Barbara Nock Pickthall (Tom) of Missouri City Texas, Elizabeth Nock of Townsend Wisconsin ,and Susan Nock (Gregory Dyer) of New York City. Day, Stanley Thomas "Tom"
Stanley Thomas "Tom" Day, 67, De Pere, passed away Saturday August 1, 2009, at home, surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Stanley and Irene (Komp) Day was born June 10, 1942. Tom was born in Appleton; his father owned a cheese factory and then moved to De Pere to own and operate Day's Bar and Family Restaurant. Tom attended Nicolet Grade School, West De Pere High School where he was active in theater and played drums. He then went to Carroll College where he was President of his Fraternity, Delta Rho Upsilon. Tom was a graduate of the Masters Program at UW Oshkosh, majoring in guidance and counseling. After college, he began his teaching career at Seymour. Throughout this time, he dated Phyllis Bouchard and they were engaged on June 9, 1965, and were married June 18, 1966. They purchased their home in 1965 and have raised their children and grandchildren since that time. Teaching was his life and he enjoyed every minute of it. He taught in the Seymour School District, mostly at the Middle School. In 1967, he became the father of a bouncing baby girl, Kari - on whom the sun rose and set - then 8 years later the birth of his first son, Sean, and shortly after, the birth of his second son, Aaron. He had many vacations at Pelican Lake with the Bouchard family and his father purchased a home on the lake as well, where Tom would spend the entire summer. Tom, his brother-in-law, Allan and his father-in-law, Gordon, caught three muskies on Pelican Lake all in the same day and when they got home, they were featured on Channel 2 with Big Al Sampson filming the three muskies for TV. These vacations continued a tradition throughout the children's lives as it does today in the grandchildren's. They have made new friends and continued that relationship since they were all babies. This year, Tom wanted to go on vacation and so we did - Tom even got his perch! Tom led a full life, and mostly enjoyed his grandsons, family vacations and fishing on Pelican Lake, vacations to Mexico, his beloved teaching, his pets, Sparkie and Spritzer, watching Jeopardy, Soduko, and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Tom's family includes his wife of 43 years, Phyllis, their children: Kari Day, De Pere; Sean Day, De Pere; Aaron (Tara) Day, Green Bay; grandchildren: Quinton Thomas Day and Zavion Thomas Day; stepmother, Catherine (Renard) Day, stepbrothers: Gerald and Anne Renard, Seymour; Thomas and Tess Renard, Holman, WI; sisters and brothers-in-law: Alice (James) Todey, Green Bay; Barbara (Dale) Schmechel, Green Bay; Robert Thompson, Arizona; Mae Willems, De Pere. In addition, Tom is also survived by his godchild, Tina (Bouchard) Kemp, nieces and nephews, and his good friends, William "Bill" Menne and Nancy and Pete Blashka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Irene Day, brother, Donald, sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" and Richard Willems, godson, Timothy Willems, parents-in-law, Gordon and Helen (Schmechel) Bouchard, brother-in-law, Allan Bouchard, and step brother, James Renard.
Family and Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2009.
