Obituary:
Little Chute - Leo N. Biesterveld, of Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Little Chute, age 82. The Lord has called Leo home, he is in the arms of Jesus! He passed away peacefully with his loved ones at his side. Leo was a U.S. Navy veteran. He married Maurita McDermott in 1959 and they just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. He retired from Foremost Dairies (formerly M.G.) in 1997 and then drove for Gustman. Leo lived a blessed life and did everything fast and with no regrets, especially fast boats and motorcycles. Leo loved his family and was devoted to them.
Leo is survived by his wife Maurita; children: Julia (Kevin) LeNoble, Kevin (Donna) Biesterveld and Linda (Victor) Van Stralen; grandchildren: Luke, Nic (Rachel) and Charissa LeNoble, Adam (fiancée Stephanie Jansen) and Ryan (special friend Katie Weyenberg) Biesterveld, Reed and Nathan Van Stralen, Peyton and Garret Biesterveld; great grandchildren: Talen, Teagan, Dominic and Maxson LeNoble; and brother, Jerry Biesterveld. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Leo was preceded in death by his son, Rick Biesterveld; parents, Adrian and Stella; twin brother, Leon; and siblings: Rosaline (Bob) Fleming, Betty (Jim) Mathy and Joe (Gladys) Biesterveld.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 29, 2017 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH (500 W. Marquette St. Appleton) beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 3:00 p.m. The Rev. Adam Bradley will officiate. Military honors, conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, will immediately follow. Obituary:
SSGT Richard M. "Rick" Biesterveld USMCR (Ret.), 48, Combined Locks, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010. He was born in Appleton, to Leo and Rita (Mc Dermott) Biesterveld on Aug. 31, 1961. Rick graduated from boot camp at Camp Pendleton in 1981. Following active duty, he continued to serve in the Reserves and was deployed to Iraq in 2003. Rick loved his country and carried a great sense of pride from his years of military service.
Rick was a father to two beautiful boys that meant the world to him. The things that brought the most joy to his life were spending time with family and friends, riding his motorcycle and boat racing. He also enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing, following the Packers, and was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. He was employed at the Appleton Post Office since 1985.
Rick is survived by his children, Peyton and Garret; parents, Leo and Rita, Kaukauna; siblings, Julia (Kevin) LeNoble, Menasha; Kevin (Donna), Little Chute; and Linda (Victor) Van Stralen, Combined Locks; and nephews and niece, Luke, Nick (godchild) and Charissa LeNoble, Adam (godchild) and Ryan Biesterveld, Reed and Nathan Van Stralen. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, beginning at 2 p.m. until time of funeral at 6 p.m. at CHRIST THE ROCK COMMUNITY CHURCH (W6254 Hwy. 10-114 Menasha). Pastor David Vande Hey will officiate.

Rick was a person that could always be counted on whenever help was needed. He was a friend to many and a dear son and uncle. He will be greatly missed.
