    Obituary:
    Magdalene E. VanRyzin, "Maggie," age 83, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Maggie was born in Stratford, WI on June 8, 1929, to the late Michael and Elizabeth (Kauer) Hartl. On November 18, 1950, she was united in marriage to Gordon Goetsch. Together the couple had 3 daughters and a son. In June of 1974, she married Phelan VanRyzin. The couple shared 33 years together until his death in 2008. Maggie was a waitress all of her life and took great pride in her work - she was loved by all that knew her. She worked at Babe Van Camps, The Left Guard, Norms Steak House, Skalls, and the Old Grog. She later owned and operated the Old Grog, then sold it after 10 years. Maggie then went on to work at Spats for many years, retiring in 1975. She loved people and had a great passion for reading. She also enjoyed embroidering, traveling, dancing, cooking - her specialty was pumkin pies, and especially her sisters trips. She was a member at St. Bernard Catholic Church for over 30 years.
    She will be missed by her two daughters: Katherine Pawlowski, Appleton and Patricia (Wayne o) Martin, Appleton; 13 grandchildren: Sandon Pawlowski, Jennifer Pawlowski, Angelica Pawlowski, Carrie Pawlowski, Andrew Tupper, Chadwick Goetsch, Jonathon Goetsch, Michael Goetsch Jr., Cory Martin, Jason Martin, Tanya Grafen, Tammy Martin, and Kristy Martin ; 9 great grandchildren; a brother Michael (Delores) Hartl, Stratford; 3 sisters: Anna Ellenbecker, Bruce, WI, Delores (Jack) Fors, Indianapolis, and Betty (Leon) Grendzinski, Wausau; 2 daughters-in-law: Claudette Goetsch and Dena Goetsch, and her loving companion and friend Muffin. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Gordon, second husband Phelan, daughter Christine (James) Tuchscherer, son Michael Goetsch, sister Mary (Carl) Treml, brother -in-law Francis "Hack" Ellenbecker, and her loving companion and friend Mesha.
    A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 18, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St. Appleton, with Father Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Highland memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
    The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Elizabeth Hospital and Affinity Hospice for the compassionate care shown to Maggie.

    Obituary:
    Christine A. Tuchscherer, 54, Menasha, passed away unexpectedly at her home Saturday, May 5, 2012. She was born July 1, 1957 in Appleton to Magdaline (Hartl) Van Ryzin and the late Gordon Goetsch. Chris married James Tuchscherer and he preceded her in death on April 14, 2003. Chris worked at ARA Food Service as a kitchen manager and recently doing food service at Brewster Village. She was a loving sister and friend who had a passion for crafts, making quilts, video and computer games. She loved to read and spend time with her many pets. Her and James spent many weekends at the cottage and riding the Harley. She always had that beautiful smile and laughter that touched the people around her.
    She will be greatly missed by her mother, Magdaline Van Ryzin; sisters: Katherine Pawlowski, Appleton and Patricia (Wayne) Martin, Appleton; Nephews: Chadwick Goetsch, Appleton; Jon Goetsch, Michael Goetsch and Andy Tupper all of Shawano; Nieces: Angelica Pawlowski, Menasha and Carrie Pawlowski, New Berlin. She is further survived by other family and close friends, especially Sara Robinson and Karen Newhouse.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tuchscherer; father, Gordon Goetsch, brother, Michael Goetsch; step-father, Phelan Van Ryzin; mother-in-law, Margaret Tuchscherer; pets: Ollie, Buddy, Harley, Bobbie and Micki.
    Funeral Services for Chris will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends may visit the family from 4 - 7 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
