    Lyola A. Smith, age 93, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 25, 1922 in Wrightstown to the late Peter and Harriett (VanVreede) Berken. Lyola married Clyde Smith on January 17, 1942 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown. They moved to Appleton, where they raised their family and she was a member of St. Paul Parish, Combined Locks. Lyola will be remembered for her many gifts and talents, including beautiful needlework and crafts. She had the ability to do any task needed to keep her household running.
    She is survived by her seven children; Carol (Wayne) Reinhardt, Janice (Special friend Mike Friis) Schink, Mark (Terry) Smith, Kay (Robert) Mitchell, Barbara (William) Thiel, Judy (Bruce) Kallin and Debra (Bruce) Cherney, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Lyola is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Clyde, infant son, Allen and daughter, Diane.
    A memorial service for Lyola will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., with Rev. Andrew Kysely officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00am until the time of service at the funeral home.
    The family wishes to extend a special thank you to St. Paul Home Hospice, especially Melissa and the staff of Birch Wing, for your wonderful, loving care of Lyola.
