    Obituary:
    Vet Ray DeLong, 64, Shiocton, lifelong resident of Outagamie county, died at 10 o'clock last night at his home after a 3-month illness. He was born Oct. 30, 1875, in the town of Ellington. Surviving are the widow; a son, Charles, Madison; two sisters, Mrs. Arvilla Nichols., Missouri; Mrs. Mildred Palmer, Illinois; two brothers, Clyde, Townsend, Wis.; Orie, Granton, Wis., and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 Thursday afternoon at the residence and at 2 o'clock Shiocton Congregational church. Burial will be in the Bovina cemetery. The body may be viewed at the residence after Wednesday noon.

    William R. DeLong (Bill) aged 93, died peacefully on March 26th in Wolfeboro NH.
    Bill was born in 1923, in Shiocton WI, to Ray and Laura DeLong. The family moved to Appleton when he was a young child. Bill attended Columbus Grade School and Roosevelt Junior High School. He was a member of the first sophomore class to enter the new Appleton High School (now Appleton West High School), where he lettered in football, basketball and tennis, and was captain of the tennis team. He was awarded the Spectors trophy and the Craftsman Shield.
    Bill served on the USS Hornet during the Second World War. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BS and ME in Engineering and an MBA.
    In 1948, Bill married Maggie Finch and began working for General Motors. 1959-60 he attended the Sloan Fellowship Program at MIT and in 1961 he joined GM Overseas Operations. He worked at Opel in Germany, at GM Ltd and Vauxhall in England, and at Holden in Australia. Bill was Director of Finance and Chairman of the Board at Vauxhall when he retired in 1986.
    Bill purchased farmland in Australia, and during his retirement he summered year-round, spending October to April in Australia and April to October in England. When Bill and Maggie moved to Alton Bay NH in 1997, Bill continued to spend "summers" in Australia, returning for the last time at age 90.
    Bill visited Appleton annually until he was no longer able to travel at age 91. He was a generous donor to many Appleton Institutions through the Fox Valley Community Foundation and the Appleton Education Foundation.
    Bill is survived by his daughters Macy DeLong, Leslie DeLong (Mark Solomon) and Merriss Ratliff (Nick), and grandchildren Alex, Philip, Bridget and Peter.
    Internment at the Rexford Cemetery in Shiocton will take place at a later date.

    William was born on August 4, 1923 and passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017.

    Obituary:
    DeLong, Donald Victor, Appleton - Age 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home, on September 30, 2002. He was born August 3, 1929, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to the late Victor and Irene (Schultz) DeLong. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1947. After graduating High School, Don played Class D professional baseball in the old Kitty League, and then joined the Army in 1951. On July 17, 1954, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Hartzheim. Don was a member of the American Legion Post 38 and the VFW. Don worked for many years at the former Kimberly Clark Paper Mill (n.k.a. Stora Enso) in Kimberly, Wisconsin. After retiring in 1991, Don went to work at the Outagamie County Airport. His last position as Security Screener was one that brought him great joy. He enjoyed being around all the people.
    Don is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and his daughters: Vicki (Joel) Ponedel, Lynn (Jeff) Graves, and Traci (Corey) Braun; his five grandchildren: Joey Ponedel, Nicole Ponedel, Paula Graves, Syndee Braun and Jensen Braun; and his beloved and faithful dog, Sami. Also, his sister-in-law Lois Bayer, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wayne and Marilyn Hartzheim.
    The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, October 3, 2002 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 West Lawrence Street, Appleton, with Rev. John Holly, OFM Cap. officiating. The inurnment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, October, 2 from 4 until 7 p.m.
    The family of Don would like to thank Janet Warner for being such a caring neighbor, and wish to extend a special thanks to Debbie, Nancy and Lisa from ThedaCare Hospice.
