Bayer, Muriel D. nee Drier "Mertz" - Muriel D. Bayer, age 69, of Appleton, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Appleton Medical Center. Muriel was born on January 18, 1938, in Appleton to the late Frank and Lila (Gagnow) Drier, Sr. She married James Bayer on September 14, 1957, in Menasha. Muriel was a member of the Retirees Club Of Neenah, enjoyed gardening, yard work, bowling and was well-known for her love of animals, especially her dog "Whitney." Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Jim; her daughter, Jennifer Bayer, Arlington, Texas; her sisters: Marilyn (Clayton) Kruetzman, New London; Mildred School, Green Bay; Marjorie (Merle) Hinchley, Neenah; her brother, Milton (Helen) Drier, Appleton; her sisters-in-law: Joyce (Frank, Jr.) Drier, Appleton and Marion (Maurice) Drier, Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Maureen (Robert) Blank. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at MT. OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 East Florida Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Joel Zank officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday directly at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. The family would to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Robert Fox and his staff, especially Kathy and Alice; and to the staff of the Dialysis Center for their loving care. A memorial has been established to benefit Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church.
