Obituary:
Mary Margaret (Eisenreich) Gilliss, 62, of Green Bay, completed her journey to heaven on February 12, 2017 after a lengthy struggle with Lupus and an arduous, two year battle with Central Nervous System (CNS) Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Mary was born on March 26, 1954 in Green Bay, WI, to Larry and Peggy (Mahony) Eisenreich, who both preceded her in death.
Mary graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1972, and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Homestead, FL. While in the Air Force, Mary met and married Terry Gilliss (of New Rockford, ND), who preceded her in death. They had two daughters, Megan and Sandra. Following an honorable discharge, Mary and Terry went on to study at North Dakota State University, where Mary earned her Bachelor's Degree in speech pathology. She earned her Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, also in speech pathology. Mary spent most of her career working in the Pulaski School District as a speech and language pathologist and made many lifelong friends in the process.
Mary had an incredible zest for life and was passionate about many things including parks and nature, local Friday night fish frys, cooking, music, and she was an avid sports fan (particularly of the Green Bay Packers). Mary was active in the Catholic Church and volunteered her time serving meals at a local soup kitchen in Green Bay. Her smile, sense of humor, generosity, and kind heart will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Mary is survived by her two daughters Megan (Pete) Ware, Sandra (Jeff) Zwijack, two grandchildren, Mac and Julia, and five siblings, Bill (Chris), Jim (Jackie), Helen (Jim), Kay and John as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Mary's family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, on Wednesday, February 15. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 211 N. Maple Ave., Green Bay, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, followed by mass at 11:00 a.m Thursday.
A memorial will be established in Mary's name.
Mary's family would like to give a special thank you to all the kind and compassionate individuals who supported Mary throughout this difficult journey, particularly: Green Bay Oncology, Bellevue Retirement Community, Unity Hospice and The Jack and Engrid Meng Residence, as well as her many friends and family.
