    Obituary:
    Eugene Dercks aged 68 died pe acefully in his sleep Thursday morning March 26th, 1998 at his home. He w as born January 11th 1930 in Little Chute, the son of the late Nicholas a nd Rose (Jansen) Dercks. Gene graduated from St. John's High School in 19 47 were he excelled in many sports. He was a lifetime member of St. John 's parish, where he and his wife Clare were married September 15th 1951. A fter serving a year in service with the U.S. Army as a clerk typist, he wo rked for Kimberly mills for 39 years. At the mill, he was active as uni on treasurer for many years and worked as a core supervisor and mill sched uler. He was also on the Planning Commission for the village of Little Chu te. He retired in 1992 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, travelin g, his weekly cribbage games and watching all sports. Most of all he lov ed to spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren at home a nd at the cottage. Gene and Clare were blessed with five children and 11 g randchildren. He is survived by his wife Clare of 47 years and their child ren, Jim Dercks (fiancee Rochelle Yngcong), Steve (Dori) Dercks, Paula (To m) Zielinski, Dan (Amy) Dercks, and Beth Johnson. Grandpa Gene was very sp ecial to all as grandchildren: Nick, Michael and Charlie Dercks, David a nd Tara Schommer, Brad and Michael Zielinski, Emily and Katie Dercks, a nd Christopher and Kevin Johnson. He was also survived by his brothers a nd sisters, Julia Reichel, Ann Dercks, Harold and Dorothy Dercks, Russe ll and Myra Dercks, Irene Verhagen, Roger and Bernice Dercks, Tom and Mar garet Dercks, Delores and Duane Vanderloop, Joan and Lefty Geurt s. He is further survived by his wife's family; Millie Jansen, Ethel Nies z, Rosemary Pennings, Margaret and Bill Zornow, Joe and Cassie Penning s, Marilyn Pennings and Margaret Pennings and many nieces and nephews a nd special friends. He was preceded in death by two children of Joseph a nd Mary, his parents Nick and Rose Dercks, his wife's parents Art and Ro se pennings, his brothers, Paul David and Jim, his sister's Rosemary, El eanor and Lavern and his brothers-in-law, Cyril ?, Mark Verhagen, Art Penn ings, Jack Niesz and Bob Jansen. The family would like to extend a very sp ecial thank you to Norman Weinberger, Dr. Ryan and staff, Fr. Dave and F r. Jim and all the family friends and neighbors that made his last three y ears enjoyable. He will be missed by all who knew him but will remain fore ver in our hearts. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday Mar ch 28, 1998 at St. John's Church with Father David Ruby officiating. Frien ds may call at the Verkuilen Funeral home. A prayer service will be he ld at 7:00 p.m. Friday.

    James Arthur Dercks, age 60 died peacefully Sunday, November 24, 2013 after a short illness. Jim was born on February 14, 1953 in Little Chute, Wisconsin, son of Eugene and Clare Dercks. Jim married the love of his life, Rochelle Yngcong, on April 11, 1998 at a civil ceremony in Green Bay, Wisconsin and a Catholic mass of celebration in Roxas City, Philippines in January 1999. Jim was a member of St John's Parish.
    Jim began his high school years at St Lawrence Seminary and graduated from St John High School in 1971. He served two years in the US Army in Bamberg, Germany as a medic. After completion of his service to his country Jim received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oshkosh. He worked at the Kimberly Mill for 27 years. He was the financial secretary of the mill union. Jim was instrumental in the efforts to keep the mill open. Upon the mill closing he returned to school and earned his master's degree as a licensed advanced social worker specializing in substance and domestic violence abuse. At the time of his death he was employed by Attic Correctional as a domestic violence group facilitator. Jim's volunteer work was very important to him. Most recently he was a volunteer for the Offender Program for Outagamie County. Jim was an avid reader and traveler.
    Jim is survived by his wife, Rochelle, and their two Maltese dogs, Sammy and Goliath. He is further survived by his mom, Clare; his brother Steve (Dori) Dercks and their children, Nick, Mike (Katie) and Charlie Dercks; sister Paula (Tom) Zielinski and their children, Dave (Katie) Schommer, Tara (Christopher) DePrey, Brad (Angie) Zielinski and Michael Zielinski; brother Dan (Amy) Dercks and their daughters, Emily (fiance Adam ) and Katie (fiance Rob); and sister Beth (John) Straw and their children Christopher and Kevin Johnson and Joel and Tatum Straw. He is also survived by a very special Aunt Rosemary Pennings. He was preceded in death by his dad, Eugene, in March of 1998; and his loyal dog Chancey.
    Jim had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be sadly missed by his family and all of the people whose lives he touched.
    Funeral services for Jim will be held at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine Street, Little Chute, WI). Friends and family may call at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. Military rites conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 will immediately follow.     In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established to benefit Jim's favorite causes and the victims of typhoon Haiyan in Capiz, Philippines.
