    Obituary:
Herman J. Woelfel, age 91, of Chilton, died on December 8, 2011 at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. He was born March 20, 1920 in the Town of Charlestown, son of the late Peter C. & Amelia (Bruckner) Woelfel. He married Marcella "Sally" Schneider on April 19, 1944 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton. The couple farmed together in the Chilton Township from 1944 until retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert, the Charlestown Branch of the Catholic Knights, the Knights of Columbus and the Eagle's Club in Chilton. Herman was an individual who loved the outdoors; the land he was able to farm, and the water he was able to fish. His passion for fishing was so great, it wasn't uncommon for him to fish Lake Michigan in the morning, and make time to get to Lake Winnebago in the afternoon. He and Sally also took time together to go bowling; this generally left ample time for Herman's children to make fudge or popcorn while they were gone, but he never made it back on time to share in the delicious snacks. Herman loved the gift of his life and was a hard worker who instilled the same ethical work standards and appreciation of daily blessings in his children which carried him through his life. He enjoyed listening to the Lawrence Welk and Ed Sullivan Shows, watching the Cubs or Packers while eating a bowl of popcorn and going for a drive daily in the car he loved. Above all else, he appreciated his family and the time he was able to spend with each and every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild. Herman always said a delicious home cooked meal tasted better when it was with one of his children. Survivors include his children: Linda Frish of Manitowoc, Karen (Dick) Sohrweide of Chilton, Rita (Glen) Jandrey of Chilton, Doris (Mike) Bennin of Chilton, Gladys (John) Michels of Chilton, Eugene (Kim Seefeld) Woelfel of Hilbert, Lois (Don) Schroeder of New Holstein, Sandra (Joe) Schumacher of Hilbert, Donald Woelfel of Stockbridge, Faye (Fritz) Wollershiem of New Holstein, Dale Woelfel of Kimberly, Paul (Wendy) Woelfel of Chilton, John (Heather) Woelfel of Little Chute; 31 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchild; 4 brothers: Alphonse (Cleta) Woelfel of Chilton, Peter (Patricia) Woelfel of Kiel, Marvin Woelfel of Rosendale, Steven (Judy) Woelfel of Racine; 3 sisters: Mildred "Chibby" (LaVerne) Daun of Chilton, Theresa Meier of Chilton, Lori Boll of Indiana; a brother-in-law: Henry (Odie) Schneider; and a sister-in-law: Eleanor Woelfel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Herman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Sally; a daughter: Diane Woelfel; a granddaughter: Shelly Woelfel; a son-in-law: Ronald Frish; brothers and sisters; and other various in-laws. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 12, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church (108 S. 6th St.) in Hilbert with the Rev. Michael Betley officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 11, 2011 and on Monday at the Church from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
