    Metzler Henry New Franken Age 86 died Sunday morning, January 20, 2002 at a local hospital. Bo rn in New Franken on March 5, 1915, he is the son of the late Lorenz and N ellie (Reynen) Metzler. He married the former Rose Vandervest on Novemb er 5, 1936 and she preceded him in death December 9, 1977. On Novemb er 3, 1979 he married the former Virginia (Stodola) Wertel. Henry farmed t he homestead in New Franken his entire life. He was a member of St. Kili an Church, New Franken. Henry enjoyed auctions, playing cards, fishing, da ncing, connoisseur of good food, and times spent with his family. He dehor ned cattle for 66 years and was well known throughout the area. Surviv ed by his beloved wife Virginia; ten children and spouses: Donald and Arle ne Metzler, Green Bay; James and Barbara Metzler, Green Bay; Rose Mary a nd James Schuh, Freedom; Jo Anne and Hub Jauquet, Luxemburg; Lawrence a nd Faye Metzler, Green Bay; Gerald and Carol Metzler, Bellevue; Vernon a nd Patti Metzler, New Franken; Janet and Dale Walton, Green Bay; Glenn Met zler, Virginia; Stephen and Julie Metzler, New Franken; 30 grandchildre n; 29 great grandchildren; five step children and spouses: Elaine and Way ne La Crosse, Green Bay; Theresa and Tom Devos, Luxemburg; Phyllis and Jer ry Boehm, New Franken; Carl and Nancy Wertel, Green Bay; Betty and Rick Ka ngas, Green Bay; 13 step grandchildren; 16 step great grand children; a br other and sister-in-law: Killian and Evelyn Metzler, Green Bay; brothers-i n-law and sisters-in-law: Louis and Joe Vandervest; Sister Martin; Mable D ellis; Ceil Rubens; and George Stodola; many nieces, nephews and friend s. Friends may call at Malcore Funeral Home, 701 North Baird Street, Gre en Bay, WI 54302 from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Parish wake 7 p.m. Tuesday. Wed nesday visitation will continue at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Wednesda y. Funeral Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at St. Kilian Church, New Franken with Re v. Dean Dombroski officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shephe rd Mausoleum.
