    Obituary:
    Wanda Rose Appleton, 90, Seymour passed away early Saturday morning, Feb. 18, 2012, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. She was born Jan. 18, 1922, in Chicago, daughter of the late George and Anna (Sliwinski) Kusniesz. On Oct. 7, 1950, she was united in marriage to John J. "Jack" Appleton. He preceded her in death Jan. 2, 2001.
    Wanda was a member of St. Nicholas Parish in Freedom, and farmed with her husband for over 50 years on the Appleton homestead in the town of Freedom.
    Wanda enjoyed life. She bowled and attended farm meetings. She loved traveling with Jack during retirement and worked at the St. Vincent de Paul store in Appleton for 20 years.
    Survivors include her children, Julane (Ken) Smith, Freedom; Jeanne (Pat Martin) Appleton, Janesville; Jackie (Ralph) Jardine, Canada; Wayne (Lisa) Appleton, Kimberly; five grandchildren, Adam (Katie), Joe, Dan, Amanda, Alicia; a great-grandchild, Sophia; many nieces and nephews; and Tootsie, her daily companion and friend.
    Preceded in death by Jack, her husband of 50 years; parents; brothers, Ted and Frank; sisters, Mary and Sophie; nieces, Patty Appleton, Linda Appleton, Maureen Kusniesz
    Friends may call at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Fr. Dave Hoffman and Deacon Don Newhouse officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com
    Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to any of the following of Wanda's favorite charities: Shriners Children's Hospital, St. Jude's Hospital, and Habitat for Humanity or St. Nicholas Church.
    A special thank you to Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Meadow Wood Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice for all your care and concern.
