SOURCE: TILLY HELBERS-WEIJENBERG Hendricus first name in America was Henry, and last name is written as Weyenberg. Henry set up three of his five sons in business. Henry had a lot of money (we do not know what he did for a living) and owned extensive property. He sets one son up in a tavern, Duces Bar, and another in a meat market, Weyenberg's Meat Market, next door to it, the other son went into Weyenberg's Grocery and the fourth worked in the meat market before moving to Kimberly.


From Mike Northway;The Henry G. Weyenberg I speak of is:The son of Theodore. Henry G. was born Sept 6, 1845 in Buegen and died 28 March 1921. He was married twice. First to Anna Bergmans, the daughter of Peter Bergmans and Theodora Hartjes. They married 2 Sept, 1872 in Little Chute. Anna died 1 December 1900. He then married Elizabeth Carney (the former Mrs. Peter Shafer) on 15 Oct 1902 in Little Chute. She died 15 August 1912 in Little Chute.I am going to guess that you had this Henry and may not have realized he Remarried. From what the records I have and what I have been told, this Hen ry was a rather well known business man in the area. His children were a ll in business due to his "money". Duce Weyenberg owned a bar. One son own ed a Meat market and one owned a Grocery.I am mostly interested in second marriage, but also have an interest in h is first due to the Hartjes connection. His second wife, Elizabeth(Mrs. Pe ter Shafer), is the person who was supposed to meet my grandmother when she arrived on the Orphan Train in Oct of 1902. The way it looks is that Henry made her a better offer. One of marriage if she did not take this child. It had been arranged through the church(St. Johns) and sisters at the New York Foundling Hospital, that she receive this child.My mother and siblings, and actually my grandmother, all believed that the "lady" who was supposed to take her from the train was sick the day the train came. I ahve only recently uncovered that Elizabeth and Hnery were at the courthouse that very same day, applying for a marriage license. They married less than two weeks later. Both Henry and Elizabeth were probably too hold to take this child, he was 57, and she was almost 56. As it turns out, Elizabeth died only 10 years later. My great grandfather, Albert Hartjes, was at the depot the day the train arrived, because he and his brothers were memebers of the Little Chute Coronet band. The band was there to greet the train that day. Long story short, he ended up taking her home and lived untill 1966. She ended up in great home. I am not so sure she would have had Elizabeth been there to greet her. She would whave been made a Orphan again in 1912. Since you say you have a very long list of Weyenbergs, is there any one you know of that may possess a picture of him?

George H. Weyenberg 73, Little Chute, a member of the village board died Wednesday evening after a nine week illness. He served as Treasurer of board for 40 years and also operated a grocery store in Little Chute for 45 years. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Harry Valentyne, Kimberly; three sons, Henry, Florian and George, all of Little Chute; three brothers, Peter, Martin and Frank, all of Little Chute ; five sisters, Mrs. Charles Myerla, Holbrook, Neb. Mrs. Richard Peters, Kalamazoo, Mi. Mrs. Floyd Kessler, Appleton, Mrs. Lena Lucassen and Mrs. George VandenHeuvel both of Little Chute and 13 grandchildren.
George opened the first Grocery store in Little Chute. Weyenberg Grocery in Main street in 1912. The store was not only a grocery but also a meeting place for all the people from the village. They also had a gas pump in front of the store. The children of George and Mayme also helped out in the store. They also had a dog, Sport, who also was the mascotte of the store. In bad times, the customers could pay with strawberrys, eggs or potatoes. During the depression George helped a lot of people, some times people came in crying that they had no money to buy food, and these people never left empty-handed. They got potatoes, macaroni, sugar etc. George also gave out loans, and often they weren't paid back. During prohibition he sold sugar to the bootleggers, and made good money with it. George's sons ran the store later, until approx.1959.

My Grandmothe r (Sophia Huiting ) kept hundreds of Holy Cards from St John's. Most are from Verkuilen's Funeral Home on Main St. The date of issuance is of course 2-3 days after the death date.Grandma died the morning of the day I (Jim Huiting) drove up to see her one last time. That afternoon all of Grandma's children and grandchildren in the area met at Grandma's home for a surprisingly joyous occasion. A lot of stress flew out the window that day! Obituary:
Joseph Hietpas, 93, formerly of Little Chute, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at St. Paul Villa where he resided the past 2 years. He was born September 5, 1915, in Little Chute, son of John and Mary (Weyenberg) Hietpas. Joe attended St. John Grade and High Schools and then went on to one year of business college. He was employed at Kimberly-Clark Corp. for 38 years. Joe enjoyed and was active in amateur plays and musicals during the 1930s, 40s & 50s. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served aboard the cruiser U.S. Birmingham which was a part of Admiral Halsey's 3rd fleet in the Pacific Ocean. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. During the 1950's Joe sang for weddings for a number of years. He also sang with the barbershoppers and with St. John's adult choir for many years. He sang for funerals for more than 25 years. Joe was a member and past commander of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute, since World War II. Many of these years in the Legion he was a part of the firing squad for military funerals. He enjoyed golfing for more than 40 years and was a member of Fox Valley Golf Course. He was a director of the Bank of Little Chute for 22 years and was on the board of directors for St. John Cemetery Association for many years. He planted many trees in the cemetery over the years and took pride in keeping the roads and trees in good condition. For many years he kept records of military veterans as they passed away making sure they were added to the list to receive an American flag on their grave each Memorial Day.
Joe is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Albert, Frank and Angie; Sylvester and Rosella; five sisters and brothers-in-law: Ann and Ted VandenHeuvel, Sophia and Ted Huiting, Susan and Henry Kamps, Genevieve and Barney Lamers, and Della and Ervin Haessly.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine St., Little Chute, with Fr. James Hablewitz officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 3 p.m. Monday until the time of the mass. Military honors will be performed by members of Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258 following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Joseph's name.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to St. Paul Villa and St. Paul Hospice Services and Staff along with Dr. Brian Scott for their loving care and compassion for Joe.

Alice Olson, 101, Little Chute, died at Care Partners Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007. She was born Oct. 14, 1905, in Little Chute, daughter of Theodore and Helena (Weyenberg) Lucassen. Alice married John "Jack" Olson and he preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1952. Mrs. Olson was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She was employed at Tuttle Press, Appleton, and the Little Chute Five and Dime. Alice enjoyed following her grandchildren in their sporting events.
Alice is survived by a son, Thomas (Karen) Olson, Combined Locks; three grandchildren, Eric (Marsha), Appleton; Brad (Megan), Denver, Colo.; Greg (Courtney) Olson, Germany; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Brecken Olson; two sisters, Barbara Mueller, Pickerel Lake; Rosemary Loiselle, Kimberly; sister-in-law, Elverta Olson, Hilbert; many special nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Barbara, age 94, of Pickerel, Wisconsin passed away at her Eustis, Florida, home on February 17, 2011. Born December 24, 1916, in Little Chute, Wisconsin, of parents Theodore and Helena Lucassen. She attened grade school and high school at St. John's of Little Chute. On May 24, 1941, she married John (Jack) Mueller of Appleton, Wi. She worked in their Sheet Metal business as bookkeeper until their retirement in 1979. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2001.
Survivors include children: Steven J. Mueller (Christine) of Appleton and Karen Mueller Phillips (Ron) of Deerbrook, Wisconsin. Grandchildren include Max (Darcy) Mueller of La Crescent, MN and Daniel Mueller and special friend Alissa of Kaukauna, WI.
Barbara had many interests in her long life, active in sports especially hunting, fishing, bowling and golf. She was also an accomplished knitter, seamstress, flower arranger, gardener, card player and singer. She was a member of a card club of her High School friends for over 50 years. In her later years she was enthusiastic about bingo and traveling.
Preceding her in death were her 11 brothers and sisters, parents, husband and son-in-law.
A private family and friends gathering will take place in Appleton.

Obituary:
Sr. M. Leone (Dorothy) Weyenberg, age 94, entered Eternal Life peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Franciscan Woods nursing home in Brookfield, WI. Sr. M. Leone was born in Kimberly, WI. on June 6, 1917, daughter of Martin and Hattie (Verbeten) Weyenberg. Her mother died in 1918 and her father remarried Nellie Maas in 1920. She eventually became the big sister of seven siblings. She graduated Valedictorian of her Kimberly High School class. After working as a nurses aide at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, WI she entered the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters Community on April 19, 1940.
Sr. M. Leone graduated from St. Louis University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy and worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Racine, WI. Her most challenging years there were during the polio epidemic of the 1950's. She also served at Cardinal Ritter Institute and St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Louis and at St. Michael's Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.
Sister semi-retired to St. Joseph Hospital, Milwaukee in 1985 and became sacristan of the chapel until 1999 when she fully retired to the Wheaton Sisters Motherhouse in Wheaton, IL. Sister M. Leone celebrated her 70th Jubilee as a Religious in May 2010.
She is survived by her family of Wheaton Community sisters and her siblings. Sister, Lois Nollenberg, Shiocton, WI., brothers, Russell (Evelyn) Seymour, TX. and Donald (Betty) New London, WI. Sister-in-law Marilynn Weyenberg, Appleton, WI. and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Bernice, Mary Ann (Emmett) Vandenberg, and LaVerne (Clarence) Huisman, brother Robert Weyenberg, sister-in-law Bea Weyenberg and brother-in-law Donald Nollenberg.
A prayer service will be held at 4pm on Monday, February 27 followed by a wake kept by the sisters until 10:00am Tuesday. The funeral mass of Christian burial celebrating her life will be at 10:00am Tuesday February 28, 2012 in Our Lady of the Angels chapel at the Wheaton Sisters Motherhouse, Wheaton, IL. with Fr. Borkowski officiating. Private interment will be in Assumption Cemetery, Winfield, IL.

Russ served his country in the Marine Corp and was honorable discharged. He then moved to California where he raised his children and later located to Seymour TX.
He is survived by his loving partner Evelyn Leichilter of Seymour, TX; daughter Leslie Weyenberg; son Eric Weyenberg, both of CA; brother, Donald (Betty) Weyenberg, New London and sister Lois Nollenberg, Shiocton; sister-in-law Marilynn Weyenberg, Appleton; and also many nieces and nephews.

Weyenberg, Frank L. "Duce", Frank L. Weyenberg, Little Chute, 87, peacefully passed away with his family at his side on Friday March 14, 2008, at Theda Clark Medical Center from a brain aneurysm. He was born on May 23, 1920, in Appleton, son of the late Frank H. and Minnie (Peeters) Weyenberg. He met his wife, Cyrilla (Sis) Baeten, at a dance at the Nightingale. They were married at St. Paul Church in Wrightstown, on July 19, 1941. Frank was a lifelong member at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. He was a veteran of Coppus American Legion Post No. 258 for 63 years, Little Chute volunteer firefighter for 22 years and the Golden Agers. Frank and Sis ran Duce's Bar in Little Chute for over 20 years. He also worked at Kimberly-Clark, Research and Development, Neenah. Frank enjoyed spending time at White Clay Lake, fishing and playing cards. He really enjoyed talking with his many friends and neighbors.

Rev. Richard Thomas Peeters - Diocese of Green Bay Died February 19, 2001. Fr. Tom Peeters, a native of Little Chute, was bo rn May 22, 1916. He died Monday of this week in St. Vincent Hospital, Gre en Bay. Fr. Tom was born on May 22, 1916 in Little Chute, the son of Richard and A nna (Weyenberg) Peeters. He lived his early life, in spite of the da ys of the Depression. As he grew up he performed, in his early days, qui te distinguished for his performances in his school years. The family of R ichard and Anna Peeters grew during the years. The Peeters Family gr ew as the other nine children were born: Doris, James, Jerry, John (Fr. Am brose), Henry, Peter, and Robert. Son Carl died at the age of eight; Marga ret (Reider) died October 21, 1981. Richard Peeters, father, died Augu st 2, 1977 and mother Anna Marie Peeters died May 28, 1977. With faith in the Resurrection of Jesus, we offer our prayers for Fr. To m. He served as assistant priest at St. Mary Parish, DePere (1942). He w as then appointed to Chaplain Service in the U.S. Navy, assigned to the Ma rines on Guam. Fr. Tom returned to serve as assistant at Holy Rosary Paris h, Kewaunee (1946) and St. Mary Parish, Chilton (1947). Father return ed to the Chaplaincy in the U.S. Navy in August, 1950 and served in Kore a. While in Korea, he received a Letter of Commendation and the Bronze St ar for heroism and bravery under fire. He then served as Chaplain at the S an Diego Naval Station (1952-1953). Father returned to serve as Assista nt at St. Therese Parish, Appleton (1953). Father was appointed Past or of St. Mary Parish, Glenmore, with mission at Stark on January 25, 195 5; St. Mary Parish, Maplewood on June 18, 1959; St. Mark Parish, Two River s, September 8, 1966; St. Wendel Parish, Cleveland, February 19, 197 0. He served as Associate pastor of Annunciation Parish, Green Bay (1978 ). Father also served as Chaplain in the US Naval Reserved, retiring wi th the rank of Captain. He served as Port Chaplain of Green Bay and Direct or of the Seamen's Ministry for the Diocese from 1980-86. Father retired f rom active priestly ministry June 1, 1986. He then served as Diocesan Dire ctor of the Apostleship of the Sea from 1991-1992. Father Tom was a 54-year member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post N o. 258, Little Chute. James Martin "Jim" Peeters
Jim M. Peeters, 94, of Little Chute, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 30, 1919, in Little Chute, son of the late Richard and Ann (Weyenberg) Peeters. Jim married the love of his life, Ida Verstegen, on July 12, 1941, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. He was a lifelong member of St. John's and was an usher there for many years. Jim served in the United States Navy during WWII as a machinist. He was then a 65 year member and former commander of the American Legion Jacob Copus Post #258, Little Chute. He was very proud of Camp American Legion, which he served on the board for many years. He was employed by Kimberly-Clark for 40 years prior to his retirement. Jim also was a member of the volunteer fire department in Little Chute for 35 years, retiring as an assistant chief. Jim enjoyed playing cards, watching the Packers and Brewers, woodworking, fishing and going up to the cottage. He was very proud of his family and his accomplishments. He was a very faithful man, and his devotion to the daily rosary was unending, even until death.

Jerry married JoAnn M. Vanden Heuvel March 21, 1946, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly. Jerry was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving from 1940 until 1947 as a Warrant Officer in the Supply Corps. Jerry was in Manila Bay at the start of WWII and spent 6 years during the war in the Pacific Theatre. He was a graduate of the Henry Ford School while in the service. Jerry was employed for 21 years in the accounting department at American Can. He was also employed at Menasha Corporation for 18 years until his retirement in 1984. Jerry was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah, where he formerly served as secretary/treasurer. He was also the accountant for St. Margaret Cemetery. Jerry coached basketball at St. Margaret Mary School and was a former president of the Neenah-Menasha Little League. He was a redcoat volunteer for 11 years at Theda Clark Medical Center along with volunteering 17 years preparing taxes for the low-income elderly. Jerry was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Jerry was totally dedicated to his loving family, country, community and church.
Jerry is survived by his wife, JoAnn; 5 children: Tim (Claire) Peeters, Neenah; Patti (Rich) Chronquist, Marshfield; Becky (John) Arpin, Neenah; Jayne (Hal Moorehead) Peeters, Big Horn, Wyoming; Steve (Gretchen) Peeters, Orlando, Florida; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Doris Heiss, Appleton; two brothers: James (Ida) Peeters, Little Chute; Peter (Agnes) Peeters, Kalamazoo, Michigan; several in-laws; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Father Ambrose John Peeters, O. Praem., 83, a member of the Norbertine Community of St. Norbert Abbey, De Pere, Wis., and a Norbertine priest, passed into God's eternal kingdom on Monday, Sept. 24, 2007.
The Reception of the Body/Vespers of the Dead Service will be held at St. Norbert Abbey on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. Visitation will follow until 9 p.m. and will continue on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Abbey Church on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 4:30 p.m. Rt. Jane F. Christensen, 91, of Neenah, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Theda Clark Medical Center with her children at her side. She was born December 22, 1922, in Little Chute, daughter of George and Catherine (Weyenberg) Vanden Heuvel. Jane's first husband, Robert Massonet, died in WWII. She was then united in marriage to John Christensen. Jane was a 40 year member of Theda Clark Medical Center's Auxiliary. She worked in the gift shop and knitted baby caps, sweaters and booties for newborns. Jane enjoyed bowling and golfing and was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah.
Jane is survived by her son, Robert (Debbie) Christensen; a daughter, Mary Christensen; sisters: Ruth DeCoster and Virginia Stuyvenberg; sister-in-law, Dorothy Fetters; brother-in-law, Walter (Rose) Christensen; and "my little kitty", Ginger.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sister, Betty (John) VanBeek; brothers-in-law: Norb DeCoster, Gene Welhouse, Donald Stuyvenberg and Wayne Fetters; sisters-in-law: Florence (Chick) Oswall and Ruth (James) Wrase; and two precious cats: Muffyn and Krissy.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division Street, Neenah, with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Neenah Animal Shelter or The Salvation Army in Jane's name would be appreciated.
The Christensen family would like to express a special thank you to the Theda Clark Medical Center Staff and ThedaCare Hospice for making their mom comfortable during her last days.

Kaukauna - Virginia "Ginger" M. Stuyvenberg, age 89, of Kaukauna, passed away due to a short illness on Friday, August 24, 2018. She was born on April 12, 1929 in Little Chute, Wisconsin, daughter of the late George and Catherine (Weyenberg) Vanden Heuvel. She was married to Eugene Welhouse from 1949 until his passing in 1988. In 1991, Ginger married the second love of her life, Donald "Don" Stuyvenberg and together they enjoyed 21 years of happiness until his passing in 2012. Throughout their years together they enjoyed family gatherings, traveling and of course their dogs, Andy & Charlie.
Ginger worked at Zwicker Knitting Mill for 40 years. She enjoyed biking, golfing, walking, and knitting Afghans. She cherished time spent visiting with her neighbors who always looked after her.
She is survived by her 3 step-daughters, Sally (fiancée Greg Lauer) Kaney of Kaukauna, Sandy (Dan) VanGompel of Temecula, CA and Cindy (Dan) Haen of Kaukauna; step-son, Bill (Tina) Stuyvenberg of Wausau; grandchildren, Michael Kaney, Craig (Jamie) Brett (Tiffany) & Derek (Hannah) VanGompel, Amy (Tom) Peters and Nick (Jennifer) Haen and Liz (Armando) Liptak, Lauren and Anna Stuyvenberg. Along with her 14 greatgrandchildren, Ginger is further survived by her sister, Ruth DeCoster and special nephew George (Laurie) VanBeek; brothers-in-law, Gene Stuyvenberg and Larry Vanderpas; sisters-in-law, Betty Ludwig, Mary "Pete" Vanderpas, Nancy, Karen and Pat Stuyvenberg.
In addition to her parents Ginger was preceded in death by her first husband Eugene Welhouse and her second husband, Don Stuyvenberg; her sisters, Betty (John) VanBeek and Jane (John) Christensen and her brother-in-law, Norb DeCoster.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street in Combine Locks. Visitation will be held that same day from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be held at St. Mary Cemetery in Kaukauna. Joe Vanden Heuvel, age 90, of Kaukauna, passed away in a Darboy assisted living facility on Sunday, November 23, 2008. Joe was born in the town of Vandenbroek on May 6, 1918, son of the late Theodore and Ann (Hietpas) Vanden Heuvel. In 1941, Joe married the former Lucille Arnoldussen; she preceded him in death in 1982. Joe served his country as a member of the United States Army, and worked for many years at Thilmany Pulp and Paper in Kaukauna and retired in 1980. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball, and will always be remembered as a good card player. He was also a member of the Little Chute American Legion Post #258 and was a longtime member and volunteer of St. Vincent de Paul in Kaukauna.
Joe is survived by three children: Jack (Shirley) Van Den Heuvel of Appleton; Jerry (Sharon) Vanden Heuvel of Appleton; and Sue (Bob) Kneepkens of Neenah; five grandchildren: Tammy Van Den Heuvel, Kenneth Van Den Heuvel, Jim (Tamara) Vanden Heuvel, Joy (Matt) Lockery, and Kimberly Kneepkens; a great-granddaughter: Lauren Vanden Heuvel; two step great-granddaughters: Nikki Lockery and Brittany Lockery; and a sister: Blanche (Henry) Van Dera of Kaukauna.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucille in 1982, brothers Maurice and Jim Vanden Heuvel, a sister Grace Vanden Heuvel, and an infant brother-in-law.
The funeral liturgy for Joe will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH (St. Al's Site) 2401 Main Avenue in Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Military honors will follow the mass. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

VanDera, Blanche M., nee Van Den Heuvel, formerly of Kaukauna, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2013, at Eden Hospital, California. She had resided with her daughter Ellen & son in-law Claude who cared for her for several years and were at her side when God took her home. Blanche was born August 6, 1920, and grew up in Appleton. She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna (Hietpas) Van Den Heuvel. Blanche married Henry Van Dera on June 7, 1945 and they made their home in Kimberly. In 1954, they moved to the farm where she had grown up and farmed until 1970. In July 1978, they moved to Kaukauna to enjoy their retirement. Blanche and her husband enjoyed the summer months in Kaukauna and winter months in California. Blanche was a member of St. Aloysius Parish. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her favorite retirement pastimes were cooking, baking, and enjoying her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Blanche will be deeply missed by her children: Joseph (Beverly Avchin) Van Dera, Mill Valley, CA, Roger (Sharon) Van Dera, Kaukauna, Ellen (Claude) Davis, Hayward, CA, Grace (Joe) Quinlan, Oak Lawn, IL, Denis (Debbie Ferrari) Van Dera, Sunol, CA, Timothy Van Dera, Kaukauna; seven grandchildren: Shari-Jo, Jessica, William, Leah, Amy, Ashley, and Sarah; five great-grandchildren: Phillip, Megan, Jasmine, Sophia, and Alyssa; sisters in-law: Loretta Nackers, Jean Van Dera, Kaukauna, and June Van Dera, Appleton; a brother in-law Peter Van Dera, Freedom; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul J. Huiting, 84, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012, in Cathedral City, California. He was born on May 10, 1928, to the late Theodore and Sophia (Hietpas) Huiting, in Little Chute. Paul went to St. John Grade School and graduated from St. John High School. After enduring Wisconsin winters for more than he wanted to, Paul moved to California, spending most of his adult life in and around the mountains of Southern California. Though he dearly loved and missed his family, California truly became "home."
Paul is survived by his two sisters, Germaine Schumacher and Marianne (Verl) Parker; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ted (Muriel) Huiting; a brother-in-law, Harold Schumacher.
Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal St., Little Chute, with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in at St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home until the time of the service.

Dad was born into one of the most difficult s ituations imaginable: His father had just taken out a loan to start up a a uto repair/resale shop on Wilson St in Little Chute, the Depression stru ck and then Ted Sr. died just 2 months after dad was born. Grandma Soph ie raised 4 children by herself w/o SS and never lost the home on Washingt on St ; safe to say they did not have a pot to pee into. Both the John Hie tpas and Geo Weyenberg families helped out. At age 10, Dad went to live wi th Nick Hietpas (Grandma's uncle) at the Hietpas Dairy Farm on French Ro ad (just SW of the culvert crossing between "OO" and 96. This mea nt up at 5 every day before school. He was befriended by the Joe & Minn ie Brockman Family who had a farm (NW of the current "OO" and 141 overpas s) nearby. Dad and Maurice (Uncle Maurice) remained long-time friends. Aft er finishing school, Dad continued to work at Hietpas's then was draft ed in 1951. He served as a forward observer with an Artillery battali on of the 7th Div in Korea (imagine a 6'4' blond Dutchman with a radio ant enna - sniper practice!). After the war, Dad got married to his Army buddy 's sister - Mom - and went to work for Dick Oudenhoven Construction. Alo ng the way, Dad built his own home on French Road across form Hietpas's Da iry. About 1967 Dad help start the Golden Yolk Egg Ranch financed by neigh bor and ex-co-worker Paul Kerkoff. Dad ran the Farm from 1967-1995 wh en it was dismantled. In 1991, Dad sold the French Road home and after Gra ndma's death, moved into the home he was born in. Dad has always been a pa ssionate hunter & fisherman, he and Mom have had a trailer on Berry Lake f or over 30 years.!BIRTH: Outagamie Co Records; ; ; Birth 48/619; ; Middle name listed as Ju nior on birth certificate and dad was nicknamed Junior. Theodore J. "Ted" Huiting, age 74 of Little Chute died unexpectedly Sunda y, October 10, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh peacefully with his f amily by his side after a short illness. He was born January 6, 1930 in Li ttle Chute son of Theodore and Sophia (Hietpas) Huiting. Ted married Muri el G. Schmitz November 4, 1953, celebrating 50 happy years of marriage tog ether mostly in a home Ted built by hand. Muriel preceded Ted in death Ju ne 8, 2004.
Mr. Huiting was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Ch ute. Through his life, he was a farmer, mason, and managed the Golden Yo lk Ranch. Ted was a true handy-man, there was "nothing he couldn't fix a nd nothing he couldn't break." He spent his life surrounded in "Paradise ", residing in Little Chute. He was a passionate fisherman and hunter w ho enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mr. Huiting enjoyed "t he trailer" at Berry Lake with his family. Ted was a member of the Jacob C oppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute. He was a U.S. Army veter an of Korea, having served from 1951 to 1953 with the 7th Armored Divisi on in artillery. He made friends for life and enjoyed the longtime friends hips with his card club. Priscilla "Perce Kamps" Meulemans, 88, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016 due to Alzheimer's.
She was born on January 30, 1927 in Little Chute to Henry and Susan (Hietpas) Kamps. Perce was a graduate of Kimberly High School. Because of the death of her father, Priscilla started tending bar at the age of 16 for her mother, then Sue's Bar . She continued working for her brother Jerry who took over the bar calling it Jerry Kamps Bar until he retired and she was 72 years old. Priscilla was a dedicated bartender and was honored to serve many of the World War II veterans when they returned home. It was at this time that she met her husband Gordon Meulemans who was a veteran and they were married on May 14, 1949. Priscilla was a faithful member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Combined Locks. She and Gordy enjoyed winters in Yuma Arizona with their many friends.
Priscilla will be missed by Gordy her loving husband of 67 years, her son Keith (Susan) Meulemans, two grandsons; Matthew of Nashville, Tennessee, and Graham of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is further survived by her brother Jerry (Rosemary) Kamps, a sister Theresa Lamers, a sister-in-law, Isabel Sheleski and a brother-in-law, Don Reitzner, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Perce was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Vonny Reitzner, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rose and Evarist Meulemans, brothers-in-law; Joseph (Edna) Meulemans, Bernard (Nancy) Meulemans, and Harry Lamers.
The funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace St., Combined Locks with Fr. Andrew Kysely officiating. Obituary:
Duane John Hietpas, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 7, 2016 after a brief illness. Duane was born on June 8, 1935 to the late Sylvester and Rosella (Kamps) Hietpas. After graduating from Kimberly High School in 1953, Duane joined the Navy where he devotedly served his country from 1954-1957 and saw the world.
Following his service, Duane fell in love with Mary Vanden Hogen whom he would marry at St. John's Parish in Little Chute on June 16, 1959. Duane and Mary would share almost 57 wonderful years of marriage together and would have four children; Kathy (Rick) Johnson (children Maddy, Erik and Paul) of Milwaukee, Mike (Julie) Hietpas (children Matt and Katie) of Sun Prairie, Karen (Bob) Armstrong (children Mitch (Erin), Maggie, and John) of Waukesha, and Dan (Stacy) Hietpas (children Alec, Peyton, Parker and Hayden) of Darboy.
Duane worked at United Groceries/Roundy's in Little Chute for 28 years until it closed in 1986. He then worked for Riverside Paper at the Kerwin Mill in Appleton until he retired in 1997.
Duane was an avid Kimberly High School sports fan rarely missing a basketball or football game for almost 60 years. Duane was an encyclopedia of Kimberly basketball and football facts, including teams, records, and players. For many years Duane and Mary were members of the Kimberly Booster Club and he was also part of a committee that planned the details of the new Kimberly High School. Known for having one of the nicest lawns and maintaining the shiniest cars in Kimberly, Duane also loved to golf (scoring a hole-in-one at Grand View in Hortonville) and closely follow his children and grandchildren's many sporting events.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law George and Anna Vanden Hogen, sister and brother-in-law Jim and Darlene Haber, brother-in-law Jim Hartjes, and nephew Steve Hartjes.
Besides his wife, four children and twelve grandchildren, Duane is survived by brother Al (Pam) Hietpas and sisters Grace Hartjes, Mary Jo (Tim) Paltzer, and Brenda Griener. Duane is further survived by brother-in-law's Father Paul Vanden Hogen and Jerome (Maureen) Vanden Hogen, and sister-in-law's Rita (Ves) Vander Heiden, Sister Paula Vanden Hogen, Sister Paulyn Vanden Hogen, Judy (Dave) Simon, and Dorothy (Bob) Nelson.
The funeral service for Duane will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, 620 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly, with Father Jim Vanden Hogen officiating and Father Paul Vanden Hogen concelebrating. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Duane's name.

On September 27, 1937 I entered this world as Darlene Mary Hietpas, the daughter of Sylvester and Rosella (Kamps) Hietpas.
I was raised in Kimberly and graduated from Kimberly High School in 1956. On September 24, 1957 I married Jim Haber at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. Jim and I lived in Kimberly our entire married life and raised our 6 children here. While my children were young, I stayed home and took in babysitting. Following that, I worked for my son-in-law Tom at The Sleep Shop in Appleton for many years but my life was devoted to my family. I am so proud of my children, I taught them to love, be strong and be generous and it is with great pride I see my grandchildren caring on the same traits.
I spent many hours in my chair watching the Brewers (I especially loved Hank), Packers, the Kimberly High School girls, boy's basketball games, and football games.
Jim passed away on July 12, 2011 and since that time I needed my family and they have not failed me.
To my sister, Brenda Grienier, who became my driver, lunch date, caregiver, and companion, thank you! Without you, I could not have stayed in my home and I am so thankful for that.
To my sister-in-law-No, my sister, Mary (Duane) Hietpas who was my rock, spiritual leader and baker, thank you!
To my sister Mary Jo (Tim) Paltzer, who became my scheduler and cleaner, thanks for taking control.
To my sister, Grace Hartjes who has always been my best friend and confidant. I thank you for the years you stood by my side, encouraged me, and supported me.
To my brother Al (Pam) Hietpas who kept me up to date on the Kimberly Papermakers and was a "sister sitter". Thank you!
Thank you to my neighbors, Dave and Julie and Nate & Anna for keeping an eye out for me, I appreciate your kindness. To my little "cookie monsters" thanks for the smiles!

I thank my family and friends for a wonderful life. I love you all very much. After battling my entire life with many, many surgeries and with two cancers…on January 22, 2015 I am free!

Kimberly - Alan J. Hietpas, age 74, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Tuesday May 15, 2018 after battling recent complications from numerous chronic conditions. Alan "Al" was born in the family home in Kimberly, WI to the late Sylvester and Rosella (Kamps) Hietpas. He was a 3-sport athlete at Kimberly High School, graduating in 1962. Al attended St. Norbert College in De Pere [he was recently awarded the distinction of Golden Knight as a 50 year alumnus], where he lettered in basketball and was a member of the Alpha Delta Gamma fraternity, graduating in three and a half years with a business degree.
On a beautiful sunny day of April 16, 1966 Al would marry his high school sweetheart Patricia "Pam" Maas at Holy Name Parish in Kimberly. Almost immediately following their wedding, Al enlisted in the US Army, where he served for three years eventually earning the rank of Sergeant and being stationed in Marin County CA and Schweinfurt Germany. Al and Pam would share 52 wonderful years of marriage together and would have two children: Tref (Patty) Hietpas [children Connor (Michele Leslie), Logan (Zion) [child Lilia], and Korey] of Darboy, and Marc (Kristen Cogswell) Hietpas [children Rose and Autumn], of Oshkosh.
After his military service, Al and family moved to various locations as employment required -spending time in WI, IL, MD, and AR, but eventually settling back home in Kimberly after building their dream home on the Fox River near Sunset Park and working at Kimberly-Clark in Neenah as a "glorified supply sergeant" for 30 years, until his retirement in 2004.
Al was a very active member of Holy Spirit Parish. Volunteering numerous hours as a commentator, lector, server, painter, marriage counselor, and as a church representative for Grand Horizons, among various other activities as needed. He loved people and serving others.
Al was an avid golfer, playing 150 rounds last year while carrying a 13 handicap into this season. He and Pam were active members of Fox Valley Golf Club where he spent many enjoyable hours as a friend & competitor. He was President of Northeastern Wisconsin Golf Association Seniors. Al had an amazing level of recall pertaining to his golf game - he could remember specific details about any hole on any course he played in recent history.
Al was a huge Kimberly High school sports fan, rarely missing a game/event and attending with his brother Duane for decades. He was a vocal supporter of every "Kimberly kid", but was especially proud of his sons & grandsons [six State Championships in football] as Papermakers. Al was personally invested in knowing the players and their families, and he and Pam were not only members of the Kimberly Booster Club, but Al also served on the Kimberly School Board for 12 years and was a member of the community planning committee involved in the design of the new high school.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law: Ted Maas, brother: Duane Hietpas, sister and brother-in-law: Jim and Darlene Haber, brother-in-law: Jim Hartjes, and nephew: Steve Hartjes.
Besides his wife, two children, five grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, Al is survived by sisters: Grace Hartjes, Mary Jo (Tim) Paltzer, and Brenda Grenier. He is further survived by his mother-in-law: Jeanne Maas, brothers-in-law: Mike (Jeanne) Maas, Jeff (Bonnie) Maas, and sisters-in-law: Mary Hietpas, Marijo (Tom) Bunbury, Becky (Brett) Haskell, Annette (Al) Pannier, and Sue Gratke.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 620 E Kimberly Ave, Kimberly. Appleton - Bernice A. Ashauer, age 82, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 surrounded by family. Bernice was born on November 13, 1935 to the late Peter and Emma (Lucassan) Vander Loop. On January 20, 1953, she married Gerald Ashauer at St. John Nepomucene Church in Little Chute. They spent 57 years of marriage together until his passing in 2010. Bernice was a woman of strong faith. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville for the past 58 years and in her 40s became a member of the Franciscan Order. Also of great importance to Bernice was her family. She loved spending time taking local trips with them, whether that being to Bay Beach, Wednesday Dairy Queen treats, the train museum, or special birthday treats for the kids at a local establishment. The house was always filled with laughter and joy of the family and their friends. Bernice enjoyed time spent cooking, baking, gardening, and enjoying the arts especially crafts fairs and oil painting.
Bernice will be dearly missed by her children: Joseph (Linda) Ashauer, Christine Ashauer, Jeffrey (Cindy Lou) Ashauer, Cynthia (Marty) Timm, Cathryn (Mike) Timm, James Ashauer, and Jason (Sari) Ashauer; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by brothers: Robert Vander Loop, William (Dorothy) Vander Loop, and Raymond (Sandra) Vander Loop; sister-in-law, Barbara Vander Loop; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Shirley M. Schuh, Appleton, age 82, died Tuesday October 6, 2015 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born in Little Chute on August 13, 1933 to the late Henry and Martha (Lamers) Weyenberg. Shirley married Theodore Schuh on November 27, 1952 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Shirley and Ted were lucky to have gone on many trips together. She also loved golfing, playing Bridge and trips to the casino. Shirley enjoyed socializing with her friends while mall walking at the Fox River Mall and will be missed at her family's weekly Sunday breakfast together.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ted; daughters: Julie Schuh of Appleton and Jennifer Hausher of Kaukauna; grandchildren: Elizabeth and Emily Hausher and Ian Schuh; sisters: Nancy (Jim) Ourada and Lynn (Ron) Verhagen; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Joe Kronzer, Rita Tessen, Cecelia (Joe) Smet, Jim (Judy) Schuh and Gerry Smith. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister Carole Kronzer; father and mother-in-law: Fred and Catherine Schuh; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Virgina (Joe) Martin, Leland Tessen, Richard (Betty) Schuh, Dolores Smith and Harold (Pat) Schuh.
Visitation will be held Thursday October 8, 2015 at ST. THOMAS MORE PARISH (1810 N. McDonald St. Appleton) beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 12:00 noon. The Rev. Gregory J. Peeters, age 68, of Little Chute, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 16, 2017. He was born in Little Chute on February 11, 1949, son of the late James and Ida (Verstegen) Peeters. On March 1, 1986, Greg married Cindy Kufahl. He retired as a maintenance welder and mill fire chief in 2011, after 40 years working at various paper mills. Greg gave 30 years of dedicated service to the Little Chute Fire Department as an Assistant Chief and Training Officer, retiring in 2001. Greg enjoyed his retirement by spending time at the family cottage on Lindquist Lake, feeding the deer, and spending time outdoors in the woods and on the water. He also enjoyed traveling, biking, camping, woodworking and spending many hours outside doing yardwork. Time spent with his family was his greatest joy. Greg was a very proud father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Greg is lovingly survived by his wife of 31 years, Cindy; children: Candy (Scott) Wiater, Carrie (Dave Treviño) Peeters, Tony (Heather) Peeters, Nick (Alicia) Peeters and Jennifer (Steve) Chagdes; grandchildren: Kali (Jeremiah) Piontek, Gabriel Peeters-Treviño, Kasi, Ella and Lila Wiater and Brady Peeters; great grandchildren: Jayla and Violet Piontek, Eli and Kennedy Pillow and Hunter Westenberger; siblings: Mike (Sherry), Audrey (Jim), Sue (Jim), Ken (Babe), Barb (Joe), Clif (Deb), Sally (Jim), Rick (special friend, Cindy), Ann (Pete), Gary (Jenny) and Jackie (Bill); father and mother-in-law, Martin and Audrey Kufahl; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bruce (Sue), Dale and Keith (Beth); many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
