Obituary:
Laura Conant, 85, of Route 5, Black River Falls, died on Wednesday, May 1, 1991, at Black River Memorial Hospital in Black River Falls.
She was born in Peever, S.D., on Aug. 20, 1905, to Frank and Teresa (Haberman) Wencel. She married Leroy Conant in Ortonville, Wis. on Dec. 24, 1923 and he preceded her in death on Sept 9, 1958.
She was a resident of Brockway Township for over 20 years, previously living in the Hixton area. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Black River Falls and she loved to garden and raise flowers.
Survivors include three sons, Roy (Delores) Conant of Appleton, Robert (Diane) Conant of Neenah, and Raymond Conant of Black River Falls; a daughter, Margaret (Raymond) Nieman of Stevens Point; a brother, Emil Wencel of Fergus Falls, Minn.; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Leroy, she was preceded in death by a son, Vernon, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services for Laura Conant were at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, at the United Methodist Church in Black River Falls. The Rev. James Know officiated and burial was in the Sechlerville Cemetery.
Friends called at the Jensen Funeral Home in Hixton on Friday evening and at the church prior to services.
Casket bearers were John Rush, Harvey Schoolcraft, Merlin Bock, Larry Casper, Foster Wussow and Leroy Parker. Honorary casket-bearers were Ray Casper and Mike Bruley.

Obituary:
Robert LeRoy Conant, 65, Appleton, passed away unexpectedly at his home Friday, Dec. 21, 2007. He was born Sept. 22, 1942, to the late LeRoy and Laura (Wencel) Conant in Black River Falls, Wis. Bob married Diane Mielke on Feb. 16, 1974, in Menasha. He worked at American Can Company for 33 years before retiring. He also owned and operated a lawn and trucking service. Bob loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. He will be remembered by his family for his quick wit and teaching his children life lessons. He also loved and enjoyed being with his six grandchildren.
Bob will be sadly missed by his wife of 33 years, Diane; children, Renee (Thomas) Schmidt; Robert (Tracie) Conant; Ryan (Natalie) Conant; David and Gregory Conant; grandchildren, Alex, Miles, Tyler, Aiden, Seth and Justin; a sister, Margaret Nieman and brothers, Roy (Ella) Conant and Ray Conant. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vernon "Bud"; sister-in-law, Delores Conant and brother-in-law, Jack Nieman.
Funeral services for Bob will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at the Valley Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Berndt officiating. Interment will be at GreenLawn Cemetery, Neenah. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening.
