    Obituary:
William C. Hoffman, 66, Grand Chute, passed away on Thursday evening, April 24, 2008, at Appleton Medical Center following a brief illness. Bill was born on May 11, 1941, in New London, the son of the late Arthur and Mildred (Lucia) Hoffman. Following high school graduation, he attended UW-Stevens Point. Bill proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964, stationed in Germany for most of that time. On Oct. 5, 1968, he married Vicki Meyerhofer and the couple was blessed with two children. Bill was the owner of Store-It-Rite for over 20 years, retiring in 2005. He was an avid fisherman and horse racing fan, enjoyed Milwaukee Brewers baseball, crossword puzzles, playing cards and spending time with his grandsons. He was a wonderful person with a huge heart. His sense of humor and comic relief were always a pleasure to be around.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 39 years, Vicki; his daughter, Kim (Mark) Mettelmann, Kaukauna; his son, Shaw Hoffman, Appleton; grandchildren, Ian Mettelmann, age 5 and Nicholas Hoffman, age 4. He is further survived by his siblings, Carol (Bill) Appleton, Waupaca; Tom Hoffman, San Ramon, Calif.; Al (Bev) Hoffman, Clintonville; parents-in-law, Robert and Marie Meyerhofer, Appleton; as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Hoffman.
Funeral Liturgy for Bill will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at 11 a.m. at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH (312 South State Street), with Father Michael K. O'Rourke officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, April 28, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday at St. Mary's Church from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. There will be a short prayer service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's name can be made to the American Heart Association.
The family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Fuller and the nursing staff in Appleton Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit, especially Larry, Ric and Will for their special care and concern for Bill and our family.
