    Francis J. Gilles, Jr., 87, Lena, died Thursday, June 14, 2012. He was born to the late Francis, Sr. and Ann (Maloney) Gilles March 18, 1925 in Lena. Francis served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He married the former Nona "Sis" McGuire in 1950. She preceded him in death October 30, 2011. Francis farmed in the Lena area until beginning work at Frigo Cheese in Lena. He then worked at Procter and Gamble in Green Bay until his retirement. Francis loved to read and loved current events and politics. He was a member of the Lena American Legion Post 342 for 50 years and also a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Lena. Surviving are one son, Patrick Gilles, Lena; five brothers, John, Mankato, MN; Merne, Lena; Mark (June), Sanfort, NC; Richard (Shirley), Lena; Leo (Rosalyn), Oconto; one sister, Agnes Gilles, Oconto Falls; four grandchildren, Cory (Liz), Andrea, Jenny, Jessica and one great grandchild, Owen. Francis was preceded in death by step-mother, Susan (Lisowe) Gilles, son, Ray Gilles, one sister, Mary Ellen Gilles, and two brothers, Joe and Robert Gilles.
    Friends may call at the Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, 438 W. Main St., Lena Monday, June 18th from 9 A.M. until the time of Funeral Services at 11 A.M. at the funeral home with Deacon Peter Gard officiating. Placed to rest at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Lena. Military Rites will be given by the Lena American Legion Post 342.

    Raymond J. Gilles, 57, Shiocton resident, died unexpectedly Monday evening June 6, 2011, at the Appleton Medical Center. He was born January 18, 1954, in Lena to Francis and Nona (Mc Guire) Gilles.
    Ray graduated from Lena High School in 1972. Following high school he attended classes at West Point and Ripon College, where he graduated with a degree in economics. Ray was employed at Mainline, Inc. He then was employed as Director of Customer Service at Carver Boat Corp. and most recently, Operations Manager at D & S Machine Service. Ray was a sports fanatic. He enjoyed all sports and played most of them, especially softball. Ray literally "ate" books. He could finish a book in an afternoon or evening like he was sitting down to dinner. Ray always had a smile for everyone and could follow it up with a story. His intelligence was amazing and his optimism was truly uplifting.
    He is survived by two children, Andrea Gilles, San Antonio, TX, and Cory (Elizabeth) Gilles, Oak Creek; one grandson, Owen Gilles; his parents, Francis and Nona Gilles, Lena; one brother, Pat Gilles, Shawano; many special Uncles, Aunts, Cousins and Nieces.
    Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., after 11 a.m. Saturday until time of service. Memorial Service 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Larry Seidl officiating. Burial in St. Charles Cemetery, Lena. Online condolences may be sent to Ray's family at www.prokowall.com.
