Some may remember the Reader's Digest nationwide search in 1950 looking for "Pinkie" Pohlman. All those who knew and loved him, will remember his kindness, his helpfulness, his kidding ways, his love of baseball and football, deer hunting, Pekinese dogs and that he was an awesome story teller.
Orville is lovingly survived by his wife of 64 years, Lila; their children, Phyllis (Dennis) Verhyen, Greenleaf; Donald (Cheryle) Pohlman, Plymouth; Carol (James) Steffens, Oak Creek; James (Sharon) Pohlman, Appleton; and Thomas Pohlman, Hartland; 11 loving grandchildren, Tina, Laura, Sara, Joseph, Christopher, Tiffani, Teaira, Tasha, Jessica, Wesley, and Carlee; 15 great-grandchildren, Alissa, Brittany, Katie, Ashwin, Kendra, Nicole, Matthew, Cole, Emily, Aviah, Kaleb, Brooke, Carter and Braden; a sister, Mary Abendroth, Appleton. Orville will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Orville was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon, Le Roy and Lloyd Pohlman; two sisters, Arry VanLieshout and Amy Pohlman.
Funeral service for Orville will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 209 S. Allen Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church until the hour of service. Full military honors will follow the service at the church. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum, Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Orville's name.
Orville's family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Fox River Assisted Living for their special loving care of his last days.

    Obituary:
Dan Abendroth, a friend to many, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, August 21, 2018. Dan was 70. He was born in Appleton on August 7, 1948, son of the late Eugene and Mary (Pohlman) Abendroth and attended Appleton schools. Dan and Sachy have been married for many years, and were blessed by the birth of their son Nick, who preceded Dan in death in 2012.
Those that knew Dan will recall how he loved to find "treasures" here and there, playing cards and games with family, boating, and in his earlier years enjoying his pilot's license. Danny was a generous man, and was always the first to offer help when it was needed by others. He also had a great sense of humor, and was a great kidder - always teasing people. His greatest pleasures were working on projects around the house, mowing the lawn on his John Deere, and the company of his dogs Gabby and Sophie.
Dan had been employed by Miller Electric, and so enjoyed his time there. He was always treated well, even when his illness set it. Sachy and the family are grateful for everything that was done for him at work.
Dan is survived by his wife: Sachy Abendroth of Appleton; eight brothers and sisters: Eugene Abendroth of Chilton, Amy (Bob) Birch of Appleton, Michael Abendroth of Amberg, Ava Abendroth of Freedom, Mary (Carl) Springer of Appleton, Annette (Dennis Korth) of Neenah, John (Ami Brunka) Abendroth of Freedom, and Anne (Joe) Anderson of Appleton; and a sister-in-law: Sue Johnson of Mazomanie and her son Barry. Other survivors include Sachy's cousins: Julie (Mike) Allard of Appleton and Lora (Steve) Hoff of Martinsville, Indiana. Dan has countless nieces and nephews, including four special nieces: Heidi Johnson, Amy Gerrish, Stephanie Gerrish, and Abby Houppert; as well as dear family friends Stacey Schnetzer and her daughter Violet.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his son Nick in 2012, a sister-in-law Jerri Abendroth, a brother-in-law Thomas Johnson, and his in-laws; Gwyn and Patricia Johnson.
A memorial service for Dan will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Fox Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 265 S. Green Bay Road in Neenah. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Sunday from 2:00 PM from until the time of the service.
The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the people at the Cleveland Clinic who gave five wonderful years to Dan. They include Dr. Brian Rini and Laura Wood, RN. We will never forget what you have done for our family.
Danny, I love you with all of my heart. -Sachy
