    See Image De Coster, Mark P. "Hot Dog ", Town of FreedomAge 70, died Friday, May 3, 2002, at his home with his family by his sid e. Mark was born October 29, 1931, in Little Chute, son of the late Leona rd and Ann (Hietpas) De Coster. He married Anna Schommer October 23, 195 4, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, where he was a long-time memb er. Mark was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country in the Korean Wa r. He belonged to the Jacob Coppus American Legion, Post 258, Little Chut e, for 47 years. For the past 25 years, he was the Officer of the Day a nd he was also on the firing squad. Mark belonged to the V.F.W. and w as a charter member of the volunteer fire department in Freedom. He w as a meat cutter by trade but he also had talents in his garden and artwo rk (painting), both of which he shared with his family and friends. Mark w as a generous man and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially h is grandchildren.Mark is survived by his wife, Anna; nine children: Dennis (Char) De Coste r, Freedom; Christy (Doug) Hinkens, Wausau; Mike (Carrie) De Coster, Freed om; Robert "Twink" De Coster, Freedom; Dave (Rose) De Coster, Freedom; Ken neth (Joann) De Coster, Hobart; Tom (Dawn) De Coster, Kaukauna; Kathy De C oster, Appleton; Jeff (Maggie) De Coster, Freedom; 18 grandchildren; thr ee brothers: Norbert (Ruth), Leo (Bev) and Jerome (Peggy) De Coster; two s isters: Evelyn (Willard) Carlson and Marie Sievers; brothers-in-law and si sters-in-law: Bob Van De Loo, Francis Demerath, Ann De Coster, Ray (Bett y) Schommer, Fran (Tom) Thompson, Hazel Schommer, Marcy (Henry) Seidl, Chu ck (Betty) Coppus and Helen Schommer; also survived by many nieces, nephe ws and friends.He is preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence De Coster, and two sister s, Lorraine Demerath and Della Van De Loo; brothers-in-law and sisters-in- law: Bob Sievers, Muriel De Coster, Gladys (Henry) Anschutz, Merle and Ja ck Schommer.Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at St. Ni cholas Church, Freedom, with Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating. Interment wi ll be in St. Nicholas Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Jac ob Coppus American Legion, Post 258, Little Chute. Friends may call at t he Verkuilen Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and at the church fr om 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the mass. A military service wi ll be held at 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. In li eu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.The family would like to extend a special thanks to Carol Peterson and Aff inity Hospice, especially to Peggy, Melissa and Sandy for their care and s upport.
