    1894 Kaukauna Sun dated 4/6/1894; Mrs Richard Powers of Brillion had a baby girl about three days ago. This makes 14 girls and 1 boy. It is said to be the largest living family of girls in the state of Wisconsin. Mr & Mrs Powers are young both about 40.

    News Mention:
    Frank Richardson, the Island photographer, runs a branch gallery at Brillion, making regular trips out there for business, but since his last visit he has been looking around for larger improved apparatus for securing negatives. While at Brillion on his usual visit, Richard Powers, wife and family came in to have a family group taken. Mr. and Mrs. Powers were a hale, hearty couple, with a rugged looking family consisting of fourteen girls and 1 boy-the largest family of girls in the state it is believed. Richardson sized up the party and was compelled to inform them that his gallery and camera were too small.

Margaret walked to her grade school in Askeaton, Wis., from the family dairy farm and rode in a horse pulled buggy or sled with her brothers and neighbors to high school in Wrightstown, Wis. She did teacher preparation studies before coming to South Dakota by train. Margaret taught in a one-room schoolhouse near Leola, S.D. She later moved to Aberdeen and taught for the Aberdeen Public School System for many years. Margaret continued with her professional education career by earning a bachelor's degree and later a master's degree in education from Northern State Teachers College. Margaret married Felix L. Ronayne in 1928 at Leola. They made Aberdeen their home to raise their family of four children. Felix passed away in 1972. Margaret continued to make Aberdeen her home and lived independently at 402 Fifth Ave. S.E. for many years. At the age of 100, she relocated to Lincoln, Neb., for care by her daughter and son-in-law Judy (George) Sholy. In her heart and mind she was visiting in Lincoln and fully intended to return to her home in Aberdeen. Margaret was very active in many civic and community organizations. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years and was past president of the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She was an honorary member of the Aberdeen Area Retired Teachers Association, was a member of the Irish American Cultural Group, was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital for hundreds of hours, a volunteer with the American Red Cross, was a judge of elections at one of the community voting precincts until very late in life, and she was an informed, active and interested Democrat all her life. Margaret is leaving behind never-forgotten friends and family in Aberdeen, Nebraska and in Wisconsin. Surviving Margaret are one daughter, Judy (George) Sholy of Lincoln, Neb., one son Patrick M. Ronayne of Garden Grove, Calif., four grandchildren, Mary Bridget (Bruce) Pendleton, an attorney living in San Diego, Calif., Megan Ronayne, an oncology nurse living in Oakland, Calif., Matthew Ronayne, a speech therapist living in Riverside, Calif., and Rachel (Ron) Peters, a teacher living in Long Beach, Calif., and two great-grandchildren, Quinn Pendleton and Kristin Pendleton. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, F.L. Ronayne, two sons, James E. Ronayne and John J. Ronayne, three sisters, Marcella Vaness, Eleanor Petrie and Lucy Neuhaus and three brothers, Thomas Hanaway, Richard Hanaway and John Hanaway.

    Lucille E. "Lucy" Nies, 92, Green Bay, died Thursday April 10, 2014, after courageously facing her battle with cancer and never complaining. She was born August 8, 1921, in Askeaton to Michael and Elizabeth (Powers) Kelly.
    On August 22, 1944, Lucy married William Nies at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Askeaton. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2005.
    Lucy was very proud of her Irish Heritage and she was a longtime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. She also belonged to Annunciation Parish where she volunteered with the Altar Rosary Society, and more recently St. Patrick Parish. Lucy was an excellent baker and also loved to read, share a beer, and play Sheepshead. She enjoyed her weekly visits to Kroll's and in the summer, she loved the parish picnics - for their booyah.Lucy is survived by her four children and their spouses, Mary and Jerry Miller, Kathy and Dan Marto, Tom and Linda Nies, Kelly and Matt Diker; five grandchildren, Jerry (Traci) Miller, Tricia Marto, Christopher (Kristyn) Nies, Justin Nies, Jacob Diker; and two great-grandchildren, Kiera and Keegan Miller.
    She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter, Brenda Marto; two sisters, Cecil Smith and Margaret Brennan; and four brothers, Clarence, Leo, William and Edward Kelly.
    Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 211 N. Maple Ave., from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.     Mary Phyllis Ambrosius, 88, De Pere, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday afternoon, August 8, 2017. She was born on January 10, 1929 to Arthur and Veronica (Powers) Stephan in Askeaton, Wisconsin.
    Phyllis attended Wrightstown High School. On January 23, 1952, she married Richard "Rick" Ambrosius at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Wrightstown. Together, they owned Ambrosius Oil. Phyllis also worked for American Tour and Travel, now Lamers Bus Lines.
    In her younger years, Phyllis enjoyed the Mid Vallee Wednesday Women's Golf League and the Friday Couples' Golf League. She loved traveling, and playing Sheephead and Cribbage. For many years, she was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown and volunteered for the Christian Mothers.
    More than anything, Phyllis loved spending time with her family.
    She is survived by her children, Peggy (Jim) Van Schyndel, Pat (Jim) Lamb, Mary (Alan) Braemer, Julie (Bryan) DeBaker and Tina (Bruce) Edinger.
    Phyllis is further survived by her grandchildren, Renee Van Schyndel, Steven Lamb, Eric (Brooke) and Nick Braemer, Matthew and Logan DeBaker, Elizabeth and Johnathan Edinger, great-grandson Jack Braemer.
    She is even further survived by her siblings, Bette Ribarchek and Judy Kuffel, siblings-in-law Clara (Kenny) Kamps, Kelly Verstagen and Marilyn "Tootie" Ambrosius, as well as many nieces, nephews and other members of the extended family.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Rick, parents, Art and Veronica, parents-in-law, Louie and Marie Ambrosius. She was further preceded by Myrtle and Will Ryan, Margaret and Earl Huebner, Verna and John "Jeep" LeRoy, Doris Verstagen, Bob and Gen Ambrosius, Marlin Ambrosius, Frank Kuffel, Donald Nytes, Donald "Donny" Ribarchek, Gary LeRoy, Paul Kamps, David Kuffel.
    Family and friends may visit at St. Clare Parish, 437 Main Street, Wrightstown, beginning at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 12, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM with Father Brian Wideman officiation. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.

    Mary E. Zirbel, WrightstownAge 85, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her si de on Saturday, July 1, 2000. The former Mary Powers was born on Novemb er 1, 1914 to the late William H. and Sadie Powers. On August 8, 1939 s he married Alvin C. Zirbel at St. John's Church in Green Bay and they enjo yed over 60 years of marriage. Mary was a member of St. Paul Catholic Chur ch in Wrightstown where she was alsoa member of the church's Altar Society. She was also a member of the Ameri can Legion Auxiliary, Unit #436 in Wrightstown. She attended grade scho ol in Askeaton, Wisconsin before graduating from high school in Chicago, I llinois. Mary's most important and gratifying job in life was working in h er home caring for her family. Home and family were very important to h er but when working outside the home, she enjoyed her job at the Greenleaf -Wayside State Bank. Among her favorite hobbies were crocheting and knitti ng. Mary will be sadly missed by her husband, Al; her children: Bonnie (Ho ward) Tietler, Carlsbad, California; Kenneth J. (Mary) Zirbel, Kaukauna; T homas L.     Patrick M. Zirbel, 61, Wrightstown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at his home. Son of the late Alvin and Mary (Powers) Zirbel was born April 6, 1948, in Wrightstown. Pat married Marie Mader on Sept. 17, 1983, at St. John's Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood. Up until nine years ago, Pat was a mechanic at Packer City International. He was a member of the S.B.C.C.C., but many people knew Pat from his morning rounds through town on his scooter. Pat was very involved and active around the community.
    Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, Marie; two children, Mollie (Mat Van Elzen) Zirbel and Michael P. (Jenny Vande Hey) Zirbel; brothers and sisters, Bonnie (Howard) Teitler, Kenneth (Mary) Zirbel, Tom (Karen) Zirbel, Judy (Bruce) Ludke; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ann (Tom) Stumpf, Ruth (Paul) Stumpf, Karen Mader, Dorothy (Bill) Kempen, Charlie (Judy) Mader, Mike (Becky) Mader and JR (Bonnie) Wolfinger; and many nieces and nephews.
    Pat was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Ralph and Marie Mader; brother-in-law, Jim Mader; and sister-in-law, Barb Wolfinger.
    Friends and family may call Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. at DeWane-Cotter Funeral Home, 711 Main St., Wrightstown. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at St. Clare Parish/St. Paul Catholic Church, 437 Main St., Wrightstown, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Online condolences may be expressed to Pat's family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com .
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
