    Obituary:
    Margaret Rossmeissl, age 88, of Appleton, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born in Little Chute, WI on May 20, 1922, to the late Henry and Agnes (Janssen) DeGroot. Margaret married James Rossmeissl at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute on June 8, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1996, the exact day of their 50th wedding anniversary.
    After high school, Margaret attended vocational school for shorthand and typing. Prior to marriage, she spent two years working at the Outagamie County Courthouse followed by three years at what was then Home Mutual & Casualty Company. When her children were older, Margaret started a new career at Appleton Business Machines where she remained until her retirement. Margaret was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the St. Francis Society.
    Margaret is survived by her five children: Mary Moore (John Duerkop), Appleton; James (Ellen) Rossmeissl, Menasha; Barbara (Tom) Jones, Hilbert; Joseph (Ellen) Rossmeissl, Appleton; Katie (Jeff) Coenen, Kaukauna; six brothers: Joseph (Shirley) DeGroot, Eureka, IL; Roger (Mary) DeGroot, Green Bay; Vincent (Lee Ann) DeGroot, Little Chute; Donald (Lori) DeGroot, Little Chute; Gerald (Pauline) DeGroot, Little Chute; Timothy (Cherri) DeGroot, Neenah; a sister: Doris (Robert) Barron, De Pere; 11 grandchildren: Katherine Jo (Thierry); Andrew (Lindsey); Maggie (Tim); Katie (David); Jesse (Kendra); Nicholas (Becky); Ross (Jennifer); Joe (Ashley); Rob; Emily and Patrick; two great-grandchildren: Sydney and Zachary, a great-grandchild expected in May; and many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law: Florian (Pearl) DeGroot and a sister: Bernice DeGroot.
    The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St. with Rev. James Leary, OFM Cap officiating. There will be a visitation at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a memorial fund that is being established in Margaret's name.
    The family would like to express their appreciation to Margaret's caring friends at Ridgeview Highlands. We would also like to thank her physician, Dr. Hayan Yacoub, for his extraordinary kindness and concern throughout Mom's later years. Finally, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone at St. Elizabeth Hospital who helped care for her - from E.R. to the staff on Four West (especially Brenda and Brenda). Because of their expert care of and loving kindness toward both Mom and us, our final moments with her will forever remain one of our most treasured memories.

    De Groot, Thomas Roger “Tom my De”Thomas Roger Groot, age 52, of Little Chute passed away peacefully, Frida y, March 5, 2004, at Colony Oaks Care Center with his family by his sid e. Tom was born July 26, 1951 to the late Florian “Chub” and Pearl (Lamer s) De Groot. He lived in Little Chute most of his young adult life and lov ed riding his bike all over town, visiting with everyone he met. He will a lso be remembered playing his guitar and singing his favorite Elvis song s. He graduated from Robert Plamann School in 1972. In his later yea rs he joined a group of other special needs boys in an Appleton home und er the loving and compassionate care of Michael Loppnow, who would beco me one of Tom’s truest and best friends and a trusted part of his whole fa mily. Tom was employed at Valley Packaging where he also had many friends.Tom was special to everyone who knew him. He had genuine love for each a nd every person he ever met. We have all learned countless things from T om - most importantly tolerance, patience, acceptance and how the lo ve of family can carry you through whatever adversity you may encounter.Tom is survived by a sister, Teri (Mike) Rooyakkers, Combined Locks; 2 bro thers: Ted De Groot, Little Chute and Tim (Stacey) De Groot, Combined Lock s. Tom was also a very special uncle to Sadie (Rooyakkers) Greg Anderso n, Beth (Rooyakkers) Cory Hurst, Kayla, Abigail, Jack and Julie De Groo t. Tom was a great uncle to Natalie Anderson.He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents: Theodore and Minn ie Lamers and Henry and Agnes De Groot and by a nephew Ben Rooyakkers.Tom’s family would like to extend their love and gratitude to Tom’s frie nd and caregiver, Mike Loppnow for his loyal care and companionship over t he past 10 years and to his staff for always being there to help.     Christopher Paul De Groot, 62, died of Cancer July 7, at home in Iowa City, IA.
    He was born July 23, 1953 in Green Bay, WI to Roger & Mary (Berceau) De Groot.
    Chris graduated from De Smet Jesuit High School in St Louis, MO. and received a degree in Architecture from the University of Kansas.
    He was a partner and on the Board of Directors at the Neumann Monson Architectural firm in Iowa City, IA.
    He is survived by his wife of 33 years. Barbara (Gable) De Groot, two daughters, Maren & Analies, two sons, Kaes and Andre, as well as his parents Roger & Mary De Groot, two sisters, Catherine Roach & Mary Jo Weiss, and two brothers, John & Peter.
    Funeral services were held at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City on July 15.

Ben enjoyed snowboarding, the arts, jazz concerts, museums, painting a nd drawing. He also enjoyed school and was presently studying Japane se in hopes of teaching English in Japan.Ben is survived by his parents, Michael and Teri Rooyakkers; his patern al grandmother, Helen Rooyakkers; two sisters: Sadie (Greg) Anderson, Kimb erly; Beth (Corey) Hurst, Milwaukee; a niece, Natalie; aunts and uncles: J ohn (Jill) Rooyakkers, Nancy (David) Opsteen, Tom DeGroot, Tim (Stacie) De Groot and Ted DeGroot. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Flori an and Pearl DeGroot and Anthony Rooyakkers.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 20 03 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks with Rev. Robert Vandenbe rg officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 a.m. Saturday unt il the time of the mass.VERKUILEN FUNERAL HOME 101 Canal Street Little Chute 788-3321
