    Birth Date:23 Feb 1922
    Address:2020 N Drew St, Appleton, WI, 54911-2931 (1993)

    Obituary:
Marie Agnes (Salm) Heinritz, age 94, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 in Appleton, Wisconsin, surrounded by her family.
Born on February 23, 1922 during Appleton's worst ever ice storm, Marie was the eleventh of fourteen children born to Frances and Nicholas Salm. The farm house where Marie was born and raised still stands on Meade Street between Frances St. and Marquette St.
Marie attended St. Joseph's Catholic School near College Avenue, walking the three miles to and from school every day. As was common then, Marie graduated from school after ninth grade and did not continue through high school, but rather stayed home to help on the farm. A firm believer in education, however, Marie later attended night school at FVTC, proudly completing her GED certificate.
Marie was introduced to her future husband, Carl Heinritz, at Hahn's Bowling Alley by her brother Vic. Carl and Marie married on October 15, 1942 in Washington DC, where Carl was head of Communications for the FBI, under J. Edgar Hoover. They moved from Washington DC to Appleton, Wisconsin in 1946 and built their home on the Salm family farm.
"Skill and Grace" was how a Milwaukee newspaper reporter headlined his article about the athletic exploits of sixteen-year-old Marie Salm in 1938.
That same heading applies to Marie's life story. With Carl, her husband of sixty-five years, Marie led her family of eighteen children (eight girls, ten boys) by example, proving one of her favorite sayings that "through hard work you can accomplish anything."
Whether teenager Marie was leading her Appleton women's softball team against arch-rival Green Bay, pitching a perfect game and hitting for the cycle; playing in the 1942 Women's World Series Fast Pitch Softball Championship in Detroit; taking up golf in her fifties and winning the Appleton Women's City Golf Tournament title at Reid Municipal Golf Course at age fifty-five; or raising a house full of eighteen (!) energetic and competitive children, Marie lived her philosophy that spiritual and mental dedication can overcome any challenge. But equally importantly, Marie always emphasized that life was a gift and should be enjoyed.
One of the most moving images would be to see Marie's tender interaction with her babies - her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, "her gifts from God", as she called them. She showed that the more love you gave, the more you had to give. The children she raised with unrelenting care and fairness, through good times and hard, balancing challenge and encouragement, grew up with a can-do attitude and a great respect and joy of life - as a testament to her spirit: Her love was unconditional, shared freely, celebrated and proclaimed, every day of her life.
Marie is survived by her sister Clara Sprangers (Little Chute, WI).
And by her Children: Sr. Joann Heinritz Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (Berkeley, CA), John and Agnes Heinritz (Santa Fe, NM), Janet and Tom Canterbury (Los Angeles, CA), James and Mary Heinritz (Denver, CO), Frances Collins (Minocqua, WI), Nicholas and Mary Heinritz (Appleton, WI), Barbara and Jim Bayer (Appleton, WI), Carl and Cheri Heinritz (Appleton, WI), Joseph and Cindy Heinritz (Weston, WI), Patrick Heinritz and Cindy Czajkowski (Madison, WI), Peter and Deborah Heinritz (Kaukauna, WI), Therese McCarthy (Scottsdale, AZ), Claire and Robert Wolstein (Templeton, CA), Paul and Christine Heinritz (Fountain Hills, AZ), Mark and Melinda Heinritz (Madison, WI), Cindy and Michael Maxam (Appleton, WI).
And by her Grandchildren: Emily DeWitt; Alan, Carolyn and Philip Canterbury; Athena, Ian, Alasia, Adam Heinritz; Jessica Palm and Jonathan Heinritz; Kareena Tran and Andrea Lewandowski; Hans Heinritz; Nathan Bayer; Sara Allen and Molly Emmons; David, Timothy and Andrew Heinritz; Anne Czajkowski; Richard and Ryan Heinritz; Dr. Meagan McCarthy, Morgan Ireland and Mikaela McCarthy; Dylon and Alexander Heinritz; Sullivan Heinritz; Nicholas and Alexander Maxam.
And by her Great-Grandchildren: Christopher and Vivienne DeWitt; Angelica Canterbury; Cameryn, Claire and Stella Heinritz; Auden Palm, Ethan and Hailey Lewandowski; Oliver and Harper Heinritz; Emily, Madelyn and Alexis Allen; Harper Bayer; Riley Emmons; Joshua, Lucas, and Elijah Heinritz.
Marie was preceded in death by her Husband, Carl Heinritz, her daughter Marie Heinritz, and her son, Thomas Heinritz; and by her grandchildren: Katrina Canterbury, Benjamin and Rachael Bayer; and by her parents, Nicholas and Frances Salm, and her twelve siblings.
A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 213 E. Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton. Visitation will be held on Thursday starting at 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund will be established by the family members. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

    Obituary:
Anthony James Salm, "Tony," joined the saints in Heaven on April 22, 2015 while visiting Arizona friends. Tony was born on September 25, 1956 in New London, Wisconsin, the ninth son and eleventh child of Gilbert and Ellen (Mattson) Salm. He was raised on farms in Stephensville and West DePere and was a great help to his parents on their dairy operation throughout his youth. He graduated from West DePere High School in 1975. As a young person, Tony was full of enthusiasm for life and was known for his strength and his mechanical and problem solving abilities. He developed great skills as a hunter and fisherman over the years.
Enlisting in the army at 20 allowed Tony to both mature and enjoy tremendous adventures. Throughout his service, he was stationed in Alaska. He grew to love this wild country and chose to live there the rest of his life.
Tony had a very successful career as a diesel mechanic on Alaska's North Slope in Prudhoe Bay and for the Red Dog lead mine in Kotzebue. His home was in Big Lake, just north of Anchorage. The incredible Alaskan locale allowed him to operate a halibut fishing boat, own a gold mine and engage in wild game hunting throughout the region.
Tony remained a bachelor all his life but was very well connected to family and friends, particularly his mother and father. Whenever Tony came home, there was a reason for a party. He was very charismatic and everywhere he went he made life-long friends quickly and easily. Tony was especially fond of his 39 nieces and nephews and did not hesitate to express his love and care for them. He was especially mindful of those who struggled and needed a helping hand.
Tony will always be remembered for his great laugh, his sense of humor and his incredible storytelling. His ability to weave a story bringing people and places to life was an amazing gift.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother, David, niece, Jennifer, and sister-in-laws, Barb and Carol. He will be dearly missed by his brothers Nicholas (Jeanette), Gilbert (Carole), Joseph (Marcia), Peter (fiancee Peggy), Victor (Lin), Christopher (Susan), Mark (Brenda) and sisters Anne (Larry Headrick), Ellen (Larry Vogels) and Rose (Robert Westbury.) He is also survived by 38 nieces and nephews and 71 great nieces and nephews. He leaves behind many loving friends, his dog, Savage and the many other strays he collected throughout his life.
Visitation with the family is scheduled from 4-7 PM on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Avenue, De Pere. Tony's brothers and sisters invite you to a celebration of his life at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St, De Pere, on Friday, May 1st, with visitation from 9:30 AM to the start of the Christian Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. A lunch will follow at the church. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Stephensville at 3:00 PM. A memorial will be established in Tony's name.
Tony's family wants to express appreciation to Dr. Cooney for her care and medical service to Tony. We also want to express appreciation to all of Tony's many friends in Alaska and the world.

    Obituary:
Patrick Mark Heinritz, age 60, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home on Friday, November 10, 2017.
Born July 22, 1957, Pat was the 12th of 18 children born to Marie and Carl Heinritz and, as Pat always pointed out, "the 7th son". Pat attended Appleton East High School and graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a B.A. in journalism. He was a passionate supporter of the University of Wisconsin and worked there more than 35 years. Pat started as a payroll and benefits assistant, was departmental administrative head of two departments and retired as a valued team member of a large multi-city research consortium studying inner city asthma, for which he was the Director of the Administrative Center. Being Administrator of this consortium provided him immense professional and personal satisfaction. Pat earned the " Distinguished" title from the university in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments, which is given to only a select few.
Pat was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed sharing his passion for Brewers baseball, as well as Packers and Badgers football. He was the "Alpha-Male" golfer in a family of 10 boys. His uncanny knack for cozying up a difficult chip shot, or sinking a long, clutch putt to win the match "drove his brothers to drink". On the water, Pat was a master at enticing fish to bite using his hand-tied "Killer Jigs", which the walleyes, panfish and bass were helpless to resist. Sitting in the boat right before sunset- he called that time "The Red Hour"- catching fish, listening to the Brewers on the radio, laughing and enjoying a beer with his brothers. That was about as good as life gets.
In 1994, he met his wife, Cindy, helping to recruit her from New York City to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a faculty position. Who knew that her university start-up-package would include a future husband! He embraced fatherhood at the age of 47 with the birth of their daughter, Anne. He was a devoted father, and nothing gave him more joy than being her Dad. From swim meets, soccer games and piano recitals to Rolling Stones concerts and traveling, he loved being with her and cheering her on.
Pat lived a beautiful life and lived it to the fullest. He took great pride in everything he did. Whether he was playing golf, working on a grant proposal or working in the garden, he gave it 100 percent. Family was everything and nothing was better than sitting on the deck of the lake house overlooking Big Silver Lake with his family by his side.
Pat is survived by his beloved wife and daughter, Cindy and Anne Czajkowski (Madison, WI) and by his siblings: Sr. Joann Heinritz Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (Berkeley, CA), John (Agnes) Heinritz (Santa Fe, NM), Janet (Tom) Canterbury (Los Angeles, CA), James (Mary) Heinritz (Salt Lake City, UT), Frances Collins (Minocqua, WI), Nicholas (Mary) Heinritz (Appleton, WI), Barbara (Jim) Bayer (Appleton, WI), Carl (Cheri) Heinritz (Appleton, WI), Joseph (Cindy) Heinritz (Weston, WI), Peter (Deborah) Heinritz (Kaukauna, WI), Therese McCarthy (Scottsdale, AZ), Claire (Robert) Wolstein (Templeton, CA), Paul (Christine) Heinritz (Fountain Hills, AZ), Mark (Melinda) Heinritz (Madison, WI) and Cindy (Michael) Maxam (Appleton, WI). He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Jean Czajkowski (Westhampton Beach, NY) and sister-in-laws: Laura Czajkowski (Gail Murdoch) (Salt Lake City, UT) and Christine Czajkowski (Steve Jensen) (Westhampton Beach, NY) and by numerous nephews and nieces. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marie Heinritz; his sister, Marie Heinritz; his brother, Tom Heinritz and his father-in-law, Eugene Czajkowski.
A celebration of Pat's life will take place on November 16, 2017 in Madison, WI.
Details will be posted at www.CressFuneralService.com
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the UW-Carbonne Cancer Center- Head and Neck Cancer General Fund (uwhealth.org/donateuwccc) to honor Patrick M. Heinritz.

Throughout this long battle, he continued to enjoy life, and was an inspiration to all who knew him. In Matt's last year, Melissa was constantly by his side, loving and caring for him.
Matt was a positive and content person who brought joy to all who knew him. He had many good friends from Appleton and from college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With these friends, he shared many good times laughing, traveling, and following sports-especially the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers.
Matt and Melissa shared a beautiful friendship and love. They enjoyed traveling, concerts, sporting events, hanging out with friends, taking Lila for walks, and just being together. Melissa's family and friends welcomed him and loved him dearly.
A beautiful Memorial Mass celebrating Matt's life was held at Saint Clement Church in Chicago on March 13. Matt will be deeply missed by all.
Contributions can be made to the Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition (5320 W. Michael's Dr., Appleton, WI) who supported Matt's mother throughout these difficult years.
