    NORBERT NIES Norbert "Brownie" Nies, 81, of Henderson, passed away Aug. 2, 2009, at Nathan Adelson Hospice. He was born March 4, 1928, in Greenleaf, Wis. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948 and the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1952. He then resided in Two Rivers, Wis. In 1967, he and his family moved to Henderson, where he was employed in civil defense, and later as an electrician for Clark County. He was a past commander of VFW Post 3848. Brownie was also a member of Henderson Eagles Aerie 2672, American Legion Post 40, Boulder City Elks and Retired Public Employees of Nevada. Brownie and his wife, Joyce, became enthusiastic RV owners and enjoyed that mode of travelling. He was active in several motor home clubs, including WIT Silver State Travelers and Vegas Rollers, FMCA Nevada Gypsies and Vegas Vagabonds. Brownie held the title of WIT "Beanbag Baseball Commissioner." He loved life and enjoyed his friends and family. Brownie knew no strangers. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Nies. Brownie is survived by his wife, of 27 years, Joyce Nies; daughter, Rae Ann Nies of Henderson; son, Terry (Joyce) Nies of Las Vegas; stepson, Mike Hougen of Las Vegas; stepdaughter, Diane (Mark) Busicchia of Henderson; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Brownie is also survived by brothers, Earl Nies and Cyril Nies, both of Green Bay, Wis.; sister, Rita Linzmeier of Cato, Wis.; sister, Rose Phillips of Green Bay; and sister, Sophie Biddle of Cadiz, Ky. Burial will be at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.     Rita J. Linzmeier, age 84, a Cato resident, passed away Wednesday morning, January 13, 2016 at her residence.
    She was born on July 29, 1931 in the town of Town of Holland, daughter of the late Raymond and Sophie (Kerkhof) Nies. On August 2, 1951, Rita married George Linzmeier at St. John's Catholic Church in Morrison. She was a volunteer at St. Mary's Catholic School as a reading instructor. Rita was a good card player, enjoyed gardening, and enjoyed her sweets and baking. She was self-employed, working with her husband on their dairy farm until her retirement in 1988. After retirement, Rita did seasonal work at Hartman's Greenhouse. She was a former member of the Homemakers Club and was also a member of the Senior Center in Whitelaw.
    Survivors include her husband: George, Cato; eight children and their spouses: Karen (Dave) Krall, Denmark, Dave (Debbie) Linzmeier, Chilton, Linda (Jim) Pike, Beaufort, South Carolina, Ken (Lori) Linzmeier, Appleton, Gary (Jane) Linzmeier, Valders, Dan (Sharon) Linzmeier, Manitowoc, Mark (Peggy) Linzmeier, Pulaski, and John (Bev) Linzmeier, Whitelaw; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Earl (Lois) Nies, Green Bay, Cyril (Laura) Nies, Greenleaf, and Joyce Nies, Henderson, Nevada; one sister: Sophie Biddle, Kentucky; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mike (Betty) Linzmeier, Richard (Ginger) Linzmeier, Jim Linzmeier, Charles (Rita) Linzmeier, Frances Linzmeier, and Betty Linzmeier. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She is further preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Fritz (Beatrice) Nies, Norbert (Mary Ann) Nies, and Delores Nies; two sisters and four brothers-in-law: Terry (Louis) Pansier, Rose (Bob) Phelps, Elmer Biddle, Robert Lenss; other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Larry, Clarence, Laura, Albert, Robert, Dorothy, Donald, and Tony Linzmeier.
    Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery.
    The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening, January 15, 2016 where a prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7:00 p.m. led by Randy Meidl at the Christianson and Deja Funeral Home, 202 Liberty Street, Valders, Wisconsin. Visitation will continue on Saturday morning, January 16, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills from 11:00 a.m. until 12: 45 p.m.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Rita's name.
    The Christianson and Deja Funeral Home, Valders, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
